Five ran his hands through his hair frustratedly while he began running through the city, as fast as his legs would take him. He appreciates the brisk Fall air as it beat against his face harshly. It made his face less hot, which was a pleasant change. His whole body was burning, and not in a good way. He had the urge to itch his skin repeatedly, and resisted the urge on the grounds of it having no use. Additionally, he figured that would be rather painful.
His life had just become exceedingly more complicated and though seeing Delores move of her own accord and hearing her voice was amazing, he found himself deeply conflicted. They had been together for a lifetime and now, after over thirty years, they were having problems. The thought of he and Delores getting a divorce made Five's heart sink to his stomach. She was his favorite person and he didn't want to let her go. Sadly though, right now it seemed as if they wanted entirely different things from their relationship. Five wouldn't admit it but he was scared. Scared of drifting apart from his beloved wife, scared of pushing himself into uncomfortable territory to make her happy, scared of the apocalypse and not being able to end it.
He had reached a beach without realising it and sat down by the unattended shore. He put his head in his hands and pressed against his eyes. He held his breath in attempts to stop himself from crying.
Why did it matter? No one was there to see it. With his clouded vision that was speckled by white dots, Five took another look around to make sure no one else was there. It was just him and the waves. Coming in... and out. He sat back down and held his knees to his chest. He covered his mouth with his hand—just in case— and sobbed. He sobbed and sobbed. When he opened his eyes, he saw the sun setting. How long had he been gone? He wondered. He sped walked back to the Academy and bumped into Vanya.
