Search and Destroy

Scar... the man who I found out was completely responsible for all of my hate and anger... was alive.

I had just assumed he died. I mean fifty years ago he was on his sixth life. It was a safe assumption, considering he would be on his own.

"Lunkfield?!" Gerry said, obviously as surprised he was alive as I was.

I pressed the screen repeatedly, hoping to see his most recent image, but the screen was locked.

"Dammit" I hissed.

"We have someone" I heard a deep growl from behind me. When I turned, Brock was already walking out the door.

"What?" I asked Gerry.

"We have a techie that can hack this" Gerry explained.

"Oh... Look I need to think. I'm going back downstairs"

"Why?" he asked, confused.

"Because the best listener in the world is down there" I said with a smile.

"Aww man" Gerry sighed, "well I can't let you go down there alone."

"Whatever" I said quietly, going back into the elevator.

"But I still hate him because he didn't believe me" I muttered to Ares, rubbing his head. I was leaning against the bars inside Ares' age.

"You could always talk to me" Gerry said in exasperation from across the room.

"No, you're bias."

"The cat can't answer you!" he yelled, frustrated with my logic. Ares bared his fangs but didn't move from his relaxed position.

"But he does! In his own way. Besides, I just need someone to listen to me" I said with a loving smile.

"I'm listening" he said in a wounded tone.

I sighed and returned to my conversation with Ares.

"But Lunkfield is the one that deserves the most hate, and when I find him, I'm going to kill him five times over" I said darkly. Ares looked up at me suddenly, cocking his head to the side in interest.

"Yes you can join me" I said with a laugh. I stood up and exited the cage, ready to go and see what Gerry's men had learned. Our hour long conversation had really helped me vent some rage. Now, I could commit some coldly calculated murder. I strolled over to Gerry, who lie pouting on the floor.

"What?" I asked with a chuckle at his position.

"You like that cat more than me" he pouted.

"Damn straight"

"Wow! Thanks for telling me that wasn't true and making me feel needed."

"You're welcome" at his face, I felt a little guilty, "C'mon, he was the first friend I had-" I hesitated, smile still on my face as the elevator doors slid open. I turned and watched as Brock stepped out, appearing angry and solemn, as usual. In long strides, he headed toward Ares' cage.

As if in slow motion, I watched as he pulled his Smith & Wesson out of it's holster and shot Ares in the head.
