a little too soon
the clock strikes twelve
albeit a little sadly
we smile to ourselves.
day has turned to night;
the sky cold and gray
the clouds as if closing the gates
of yet another today.
in the midst of the quick hustle
are our shaking hands and damp eyes;
we're two little kids
afraid to say goodbye.
the past tugs at my hand
the future does yours,
no longer held together
the sky too pours.
we wish for more time together
but don't we always?
these selfish hearts
begging for new cross-ways.
so we do what we do best
and smile yet again,
you run towards the bird
and i take the train.
