beware, for there are chances that you might be giving too much of yourself away in a relationship. to your friends. your family. your significant other.

sometimes you give away too many pieces of yourself. 'love requires sacrifice' is a mere mirage that people create for temporary solace inside their screaming heads. don't let it sit on top of your own beliefs. because sometimes, people leave. and when they do, they take that piece of you with them.

don't give away so many pieces of yourself that you later find a dark, gaping hole in your chest. only for the next gunshot that follows to be the realization that you're never going to get that part of you back.

it's okay to take your time when you decide to put your trust in people. it's okay to let things fall into place on their own. at their own pace. slowly. it's okay to let what you think is loneliness, overpower for a bit. wouldn't you rather be by yourself than be with the wrong people?

after all, as olivia laing says, "loneliness might be taking you towards an otherwise unreachable experience of reality."
