Other Side

Stain has been training Midoriya for about four months now. Midoriya has learned how to focus his shadow power to make semi-material objects as well as how to jump from shadow-to-shadow. He has even helped Stain take down a few different heroes. Negative is beginning to get concerned that Midoriya may end up going full killer, and is unsure about what to do about it. (For those who are curious as to the timing compared to the show, there are roughly five months till the entrance exam for U.A.)

"Were is the cutting board?" Midoriya asked one morning.
"I don't know, your the last one to have it," Negative says, obviously irritated.
"What's wrong with you, normally your very calm, did you wake up on the wrong side of my brain this morning or what?"
"Do you remember what kind of villain you wanted to be before you were trained by Stain?" Negative asks very seriously.
"Somewhat, I know I don't want to kill people, but you were the one who suggested a different perspective."
"I think it's time for a different, different perspective... maybe......" Negative trails off.
"Maybe what," Midoriya asked curiously.
"I may know a hero you can be trained under, or at least practice with."
"That's a crazy idea," he said, "I'm trying to become a villain, not a hero, why would I train with a hero!?"
"Simple," Negative said calmly, "if you learn from a hero how heroes work, you will be able to take heroes down easier."
Midoriya stops and thinks about it, then finally says, "okay, that's actually not as bad of an idea as I thought."
"I figured you would see it like that," then he realized something, "so when are you planning on writing to your mom Mr. I?"
"I'll write to her in a few, I need to see how much paper we have left."
"That would probably be a good idea, but don't forget that it helps her," Negative says.
"How would you know that?"
"Because it hurts loosing a loved one the way you 'died,' especially when it's your only child."
"It hurts me too you know," Midoriya admits, "it hurts to have to lie to her, to not be there for her."
"I know," Negative says sadly, "I know all to well how much it hurts to not talk to someone you used to always talk to."
There was a silence for several minutes, until Best Years of Our Lives came on the radio (don't ask, just don't).
"Seriously, why does that song keep playing in these somewhat dramatic moments."
"I guess just because we're lucky," then he thought for a moment, "actually, this song gives me an idea of who could train you, but it's going to be a little bit of a gamble."
"Ok, who do you have in mind?"
"His name is Gran Torino, and he's somewhat retired."
"Well where does he live?"
"It's not that easy, we have to try to convince him that your trying to become a hero, not a villain."
"How do we even do that?"
"Well, we're going to have to work on your lying," Negative states, "and we're going to have to work on your confidence."
"You already gave me a huge boost of confidence by giving me a quirk and training me," Midoriya admits.
"That may be right when you say that, but I made you combat confidence, not conversation confident," Negative tells him, "so that is what we need to work on next."
"Fine," Midoriya says, slightly irritated, "lest get this over with."

~~ONE MONTH OF CONVERSATIONAL TRAINING LATER~~

"Ok, I think we may be ready to try this," Negative says one afternoon.
"You think I'm ready now," Midoriya asked.
"You're as ready as I can make you, and we don't have long before U.A. entry exam."
"Why does that matter," Midoriya asked curiously.
"That is when the next generation of heroes begins training," Negative says seriously, "I have a way of watching them, so we can see what we're up against."
"Makes sense."
"Ok let's take the train there and see if we can find him, you have the stuff right?"
"Yes I have them, I don't understand why, but I have them," Midoriya states, slightly confused.
"You'll see," Negative said suspiciously.

~~AFTER A WHILE OF WAKING~~

"Here we are, the house of Gran Torino," Negative said as they approached a run-down building.
"Are you sure this is the place," Midoriya asked, "this place is kind of a dump."
"Go knock and find out for yourself."
Midoriya approached the door casually and knocked loudly. "Hello, Gran Torino, are you home, I need to talk to you," Midoriya called loudly. There was no answer for a moment, till this short old man opened the door.
"Who the hell are you," the old man asked.
"My name is Fralav Palenix, I was told that I could find Gran Torino here," Midoriya stated, kind of like a tourist.
"Well I'm not to sure what you want with me, but I'm retired, so go away," the old man stated, starting to close the door.
"Is that any way to treat an old friend," Negative said through Midoriya.
Gran Torino stopped, "Jackson, is that you?"
"Yes and no, if you let me in I will explain." So Gran Torino let them in.
"So what happened, and why are you in someone else's body," Gran Torino asked his friends voice.
"Well, that's a long story," Negative said trying to find a good answer, "the short answer is I was helping this kid control his quirk and the machine I was using accidentally put my consciousness into his subconscious. Ever since then I've been helping to train him."
"Okay that makes some sense, but I don't understand why you've come to me."
"Well, I was hoping that you'd train him some, the entrance exam for U.A. Is nearly here and I want to give him the best chance of success."
"And why should I?"
"Because your a hero and heroes help people," he said, "and I brought you some fish pastries."
Gran Torino looked at him hard for a moment, "fine but only if you don't make any comments to me or the boy during these next three months."

~~AS GRAN TORINO WAS HEATING THE PASTRIES~~

"Why did you train me to talk if you were going to do all the talking," Midoriya asked.
"Two reasons, one you need to be better at talking to people," Negative admitted, "two when I talk through you I'm forced to use your speaking ability."
"So what happens now," Midoriya asked, a little nervous.
"Isn't it obvious, you are going to be the trained by him," he said, "I won't help, so this is all you."
"Any tips before I start."
"Don't hold back," he said simply, "and try not to get too hurt, I'm rather found of our conversations."
"Really," Midoriya asked, but Negative didn't reply. "Are you going to answer me?" Still no answer.
"Are you just going to sit there thinking, or are we going to get started," Gran Torino asked him.
Negative said nothing. "Well it look like we get started then," Midoriya replied.
