Dead stop.

She was speeding, and she knew it. But she didn't care. The back roads were shrouded by trees. Nothing for miles, no house, or cars.

Nothing.

The woodlines were pitch dark, receiving no light from the moon. The only light is the beams that cut the darkness, but disappears into blackness again.

She takes her cup from her cup holder, sipping her coffee, and rounding a curve. Her attention is fairly focused on the cup, and doesn't notice the figure crossing the road.

Her attention turns back to the road, just as a pure black dog appears in the beams. She had no time to turn, and there was a loud crunching sound, and some blood smear on her windshield, her car slides out of control, and slams into the ditch. The hood bents up and slams against the windshield, cracking the window even more

She breathes in and out in nervous short breaths, and looks straight forward, shocked.

She slowly opens the door, and gets out. The night mist shrouds upon her face, and she gets a chill.

She looks to the motionless body of the dog, and she slowly approaches the dogs body, and kneels down.

"I'm so sorry". She starts to tear up, and looks around.

No headlights.

No house lights.

Nothing.

She looks back to the dog, and sees a white "v" that cuts across both cheeks, the only other color on the dog. She sees the eyes open.

She stands back up in shock, still looking upon the dog. It begins to howl in pain, and she starts to look upon the dog as it still howls. She runs back to her car, and gets in.

She starts the car, and quickly drives away. One of her lights was broken, and a tad bit of blood was smeared on the hood, now bent back down to latch, But still horribly bent.

She hurried back to her tiny apartment, located on the Vermont's west coast. Her room was on the second floor, facing the beachway. A salty wind shrouds the apartment breezeway. She looks around as if someone will see her.

She hurries into her apartment, and quickly locks the door. She goes into her living room, and plops on the couch, Her nerves are still shot. Her hands shake beyond her control.

She only breathed. She started to cry, the accident replays in her mind. Everytime getting more vivid.

A dog barks and she jumps from her seat, her heartbeat increases. It sounded eerily...

Supernatural.

She looked off at the front door. Looking...waiting.

Soon after...there's a loud crash, and she darts into the dining room, seeing her glass slider door has its window broken out...and a blood trail leading off into a side room.

She slowly approaches the entryway, scared of what she would find. Another crash makes her jump.

She enters a pantry like room, and sees a jar of peanut butter on the floor, and almost faints.

Her blood turns cold.

And her breaths get caught in Her throat.

She looks to see a pure black dog, covered in blood, and she recognised the dog, as it had a white "v" That spread across both cheeks.

It was the dog she hit. And she didn't doubt it. She screamed, and the deathly dog looks at her, and starts to growl. It lunges, and she quickly shuts the door, and flops the latch.

The door is held in place, but it shakes violently as the dog tries to break through it.

She rushes to the living room, and grabs her purse. The pantry door breaks open, and she rushed to the front door, but sees the dog now standing between her and the door.

She sprinted back to the dining room, and into the back yard. Running through the broken slider door.

The dog is now behind her, and she runs into the shed, and latches the door.

She was trapped.

The shed door begins to be shredded as the dog notes chunks of the door out, and she can't move. The door bursts open, and as the view zooms from the shed, there is only the blood curdling agonized screams.

Then....

Silence.
