I fell asleep after that stunning revelation and was greeted with another dream. But this one felt more like a memory than anything.

I'm in another Glade, but this time girls instead of boys are populating it. Looking around, it seems like we're in there at the very start of it. The plants aren't very high, and the Homestead seems stable. Something inside me whispers that this is the Glen.

I had adopted the role of consoling the younger girls and just being there for the older ones. I liked my part. And I had a feeling everyone else did as well.

"I don't like this. It's scary." The latest girl I was with told me.

"Hey, it's alright." I tried to tell her. "Wanna know a secret?"

She sniffled and looked up at me. "What?"

"I don't like this either." I gestured to nothing in particular.

The girl giggled. "Hey! I remember my name now! It's Terra!"

"Lookit, that! I told you you'd get it back. Welcome to your new home, Terra. My name's Lauren." I pulled her into a hug and then walked back to where I was earlier with some other girls. We had just drifted together, as we were the more mentally stable ones in the Glen. But each of us wasn't like it in the beginning. We just pulled ourselves together quicker.

"Who's that?" Sonya asked.

"Another one of those babies," Miyoko commented. She and I hadn't gotten off on the right foot, and we weren't doing anything to make it right.

"Hey." I defended. "Her name is Terra. She just remembered it."

"All right. Let's not fight." Harriet stopped us before we could get any further. She was a mom figure, through and through. Everyone listened to her. "We need to start working. This moping around isn't us getting anywhere. Let's rally the girls and get started."

Everyone looked at me. "What?"

"You're the loudest one of us all." Miyoko said.

"And you're good at talking." Sonya told me.

"I-" I started. "I'm not becoming the leader though. I'm doing this, and then nothing else." I pointed my finger at them to prove my point.

Taking a deep breath, I readied myself. "Ladies!" I yelled at the top of my voice. A few looked over at us.

I looked at the girls. Harriet pointed to a picnic table not that far from us.

I sighed and climbed onto it. I took another deep breath and planted my feet. "Ladies! Gather around and listen up!" The girls in the hearing range all walked toward our little group, which was all of them because I had yelled loud enough to make my voice heard. Once they close enough, I looked back at Harriet and Sonya to get the go-ahead. They both nodded.

"We cannot go another day moping around like little boys. We are strong women that can rise above that. I know we have all had our memory wiped, and we're scared. But we have got to get ourselves organized if we are to figure out what we're doing here and how we can get out. Are you guys with me?" I was met with silence and sniffles. What? That speech was pretty good, in my opinion.

I lowered myself down a bit. "Girls, Everyone's scared. I'm scared. But something thing I keep remembering is this: 'Courage cannot erase our fear. Courage is when we face our fear.' So let's so those f-" I stopped. What was a better alternative? "Fi-finches." Much better. "The finches that put us in here that we won't be beaten!" This time I was greeted with yells.

I hopped off the picnic table and gestured to Harriet. "All yours." She pulled Sonya up there with her.

"Okay. We need to figure out some roles for us and get ourselves working. First, we need to elect leaders. Any ideas?" Harriet told the group.

"I nominate Harriet!" I yelled.

"I second that." Miyoko agreed.

All the girls agreed. I was right. Harriet did radiate mom energy. Everyone listened to her when she spoke. "I accept." Harriet accepted her role.

"Sonya's second-in-command!" I called, daring anyone to disagree.

"Any objections?" Harriet asked.

"No, Lauren should take the job." Sonya looked at me.

"Oh no. I quite like my role as an empathetic aunt." I shook my head.

"All right! Sonya, do you agree?" Harriet looked at her soon-to-be partner.

"I accept," Sonya said humbly.

"Whoo!" I yelled.

Harriet went on to elect leaders of other things, calling them 'Keepers.' Some girls had already started working in their roles, tending to the animals and such. I had noticed not that long ago that Terra spent a lot of her time in the Gardens, so I hastily nominated her to be Keeper of the 'Gardeners'. She protested but eventually caved.

Once most of the ladies dispersed and went to start working, trying to figure out what they were going to do. "That just leaves you guys," Harriet told the girls that were left.

"We need some people to explore what's out there," Sonya said quietly. "We've noticed the huge Doors that lead to something. Anyone want to go?"

"I'll go." I volunteered. I had already walked a little bit in there and found out that it was a giant maze. I had scrambled back and told the girls what I had found. "I'll take the rest of the ladies and figure out something."

"Are you sure, Lauren?" Harriet asked.

"Yeah. We'll use the buddy system."

"All right. We'll call you guys Runners. Lauren, you'll be the Keeper." Harriet decided.

"I accept," I bowed low.

I woke up with a start. I turned on the lamp, grabbed my journal from the side table, and wrote furiously. Once I was done, I looked back at what I had written.

"Holy finch."

AHHHH! A MEMORY!!!
I really like writing Lauren as a type of mom figure, and I LOVE writing Harriet and Sonya. They're just so great and deserved SO MUCH MORE screen time in the movies, and I really wish that they were in the books a bit more.

Questions!!
-Do you think Lauren would be a good leader? Should she have taken the role of second-in-command?

-Opinions on Terra so far???

-Questions, comments, CC?

Author Confessions-

Terra was actually named Athena
And then I realized that-SO WAS A LOT OF OC'S
DEAR LORD HOW MANY ATHENA'S ARE THERE
Anyway, Athena was no more, and here's Terra! Honestly, the way I'm picturing her is a lot like Martha Dunstock from Heathers the Musical
(Anyway, any good faceclaims?? Along those lines? You'll be seeing her A LOT in Scorch Trials, so I'll need to make a faceclaim. teehee :))

[Edit- almost *checks calendar* 7? months since I FIRST wrote this chapter I've found a faceclaim!
Terra is now played by Maisie Williams! I'm not adding her into the cast list, since she's only here for 1 chapter, but you will see her in TMC and in DV2]
