AFTER THE AVENGERS HAD SPLIT SIDES AND HELD LIMITED COMMUNICATION WITH EACH OTHER, TONY STARK WAS FILLED WITH NOTHING BUT GUILT. If he had listened to Steve Rogers, the battle that left him few team members could have been avoided.

He watched over the span of two months how new King - T'Challa - was able to forgive James Buchanan Barnes for the mess he caused as the winter soldier and how he even invited him to his country to give him help he needed. Tony wasn't jealous of T'Challa, he was quite far from it. But he did - out of his character, yes - admire the King's ability to forgive. And out of self-pity, he did what Tony always does and bought some things, paid someone off, put faith into a kid, and yet was still left empty and desperate.

So he did what Tony wouldn't do and hired a lawyer to help him get the Avengers out of trouble and back home where they belonged. 

However, Tony never expected the phone calls and job requirements of Ackley Woods to hit her hard. The job was taking a toll on her own mental health and it was happening so fast that even Tony couldn't see it coming.

The woman he had known for years ever since he saved her from a falling building in New York was now feeling the weight of the entire Avengers team and all their dark pasts as she tried her hardest to pull them from the pit of legal disasters. 

It wasn't easy. It meant press conferences, sleepless nights, mental breakdowns, panic attacks, dark circles, meetings, dozens of signatures, and back and forth trips to Wakanda to collect statements from the Avengers who were still hiding from the government.

But Ackley Woods never quit, and no matter how hard she would have to argue, she was going to save the world by saving the Avengers.

this is my favorite plot, i don't know why. i just love it and i am going to be extremely picky when giving this away, sorry. don't change her name or face claim, those took a long time. 

this is obviously after civil war and is an au, doesn't need a villain. if you use this then there will be no infinity war because spoiler alert, the avengers are cleared by the government and she wins the case. 

pepper still exists, but she and tony aren't together, obviously. you decide when and why the broke up.

so basically, tony saved her life in the battle of new york and ever since then he's checked up on her every few months because he isn't a total ass and then he calls her and needs her help because he feels guilty about what happened.
