Plot;
Ella had lived her entire life hoping for something greater than what she got. Her home life - to be quite honest - sucked. And when I say sucked, I mean the ball got stuck over the fence where the big rabid dog laid and no one dated to go get it sucked.

She tried to make the most of it, of course. She loved to sing in her little loft space that she lived in. She would pretend that the birds could understand her and that they sang back. But she knew she was being silly and that there was no connection between her and the birds.

She accepted her life, but held on to that little sliver of hope. That was all she could have, really. Her mother had died when she was only a child, and then her father had died in service to the army. So she was legally under care if her step-monster, who was as pleased as Elle was to be with each other.

Maybe Elle's life would have been better if she didn't have to do all the chores for the snooty bitch twins that she so miserably called her step-sisters. They acted as if they were the two most extravagant people to grace the earth, yet not even Flash Thompson wanted to go out with either of them.

That was basically Ella's life. She was up bright and early to make breakfast for her "family" and she stayed up late to study for her tests.

She had one friend who tried to understand Ella's pain, but she had her eye on one boy for quite a few years. But that was only a fantasy. She knew she would never get a guy like Luke Charming, the son of the owner of Prince Industries. He was cute, and sweet, and, well, charming.

Ella hoped that maybe at Junior homecoming she would be able to dance with him, especially since it was masquerade. But when she's forbidden to go to the dance because apparently one of her sisters has a crush on Luke, her desire tumbles down the drain.

And she's left crying on her fire escape in the middle of the night.

Luckily, some superhero was passing through and her heard cries, and after she explains the situation to him, he not only promises her she'll go to that dance, but he becomes her fairy godmother and is set to get her everything she'll need.

Their plan is called the 'cinder block plan' because they're sure it won't fail.

Just maybe they won't go by the book and Ella will get her Mr. Charming.

Summary;
Life sucked.

Well, at least it sucked for Ella Dean who practically worked as a live in maid for her very evil stepmother.

She thought there was nothing she or anyone could do to make her life better.

That was until one night, her very own fairy godmother in the form of a teenage boy wearing spandex listens to her cries on her fire escape and promises to help her.

Maybe things were looking up, and maybe she could get her Prince Charming.
