Chapter Forty-three: Sticky Notes Under The Bed

MYLES POV

"I don't suppose we discussed curfew." Ken's stern voice alerted us the moment we stepped into the house.

Cali is beside me, our fingers interlinked, but she immediately let go and laced hers together behind her.

My eyes rambled to the wall clock at the end of the room, it was almost midnight.

Oh, shit.

"I am so sorry Mr. and Mrs. Donovan. We..."

"We lost track of time watching the Rockets game." Cali jovially interjected.

"Rockets won." Mary excitedly mouthed at her daughter.

Ken from the armchair has his eyes thinned to slits, almost like they're shut. He says, "Please tell me you guys watched it on TV."

I am at a loss for words. I had planned today, but I didn't think about this part.

"Actually, we fly to Houston on a helicopter, dad." Cali boasted. I couldn't suppress my smile at the pride in every step she takes when she crows in her delicate voice, "And I drove your car."

"Okay?" Ken's brows reluctantly rose. It's just clear that he didn't believe her.

"Seriously dad." Cali turns around on her barefoot, facing me from some inches away, "Myles, didn't I drive us back." Her hypnotizing smile is radiant and winsome.

"You did."

It took a couple of seconds before I snapped out of her allure and suddenly took my eyes to her parents, hoping they wouldn't notice my creepiness.

Their reactions are dissimilar. When Ken has a solemn expression on his face, Mary gets emotional behind him. The woman blows out a breath and fans her face with her hands before Cali kisses her cheek.

"Cali, that's good news," Ken remarked. His brows are still hardened, specifying that he's having trouble believing the news.

Cali simply shrugs her shoulders. And as she wraps her arms around him, she responds, "I know, dad. Good night." She smiles back at me, and walks away, leaving us three in the room.

In the silver of time, the awkwardness got extremely uncomfortable.

"Good night," I said to excuse myself.

Ken mischievously cocked his head at me. I smiled back at the two and stalked in the direction of my room.

On the bed, awake, I smile like a baby in their sleep. Everything from today floats in my head. I am still holding on to every moment from this evening as though it is presently happening again.
Earth has never felt so restful.

My phone screens lighten up in the dark room. I grab it by the side of the pillow and swipe the screen.

Unknown number: Come to my room.

Myles: Cali?
I sent that, not because I am not certain it was her, but because her offer caught me off guard. Now I am sitting on the bed, anticipating what she's typing.

Unknown number: Yes, will you come?

Cali wanted me as much as I wanted her.

An uncontrolled smile lingers on my face while I reply; "What will I get if I come over?"

Cali: Anything you want.

Myles: I will take that.

A few seconds later, she replies; "The second door on the left. I am waiting for you."

I grab my t-shirt that is hanging on the chair against the wall and slip into it. I already had my joggers on, so I crept up the stairs for the first time.

The hall is small and the lights are dim. There's a long carpet rolled out to a door facing me. It is situated singularly on the wall that is in the midst of the two walls with two doors on each side.

Second door on my left, she said. But I contemplate pushing any. What if I open the wrong door? What if...

The second door on my left slowly opens. I was a bit startled by the creaking noise.

Her hair is up in a bun, and she's in a white crop top and pink shorts, standing on her toes, with a smile on her face. She's so tempting, I just watch her, not knowing what to do. She had to grab my hand and pull me into the room. Her index finger presses against her beautiful lips while she ejects a giggle.

When she gradually closes the door, she adorably whispers, "What ifs are what stopped me from coming into your room last night."

She was close, but she wasn't entirely correct. I didn't have a doubt about coming to her. I was only careful not to open the wrong door, but I wasn't going to argue with her.

My eyes went aimlessly around her room. I find it completely different from what I had imagined her room would look like. The walls are plain, the desk empty, the curtains as grey as the bedding. It is like she just moved in, but then again, her parents said she put down everything after summer ended.

Maybe I am the cause of all this. If I had been honest from the first day, we wouldn't have both suffered.

"Come." She jerks her head to the bed and turns off the lights, lowering to her knees in the dark room.

I watch in fascination how her hair loosens and flows around her as she crawls to where there was a ray of light, which is under the medium bed, where the duvet is touching the floor and made a curtain under the bed. I followed behind her and lay on my stomach on a soft carpet, my elbows resting on a pillow.

The light I saw earlier is actually from her laptop, showing her emails. She turned and lay flat on her back, watching me watch her.

"This place has been my comfort zone since I knew myself." She told me. "Look." She jutted out her chin above her. I roll on my back and I am greeted with a lot of sticky notes in different colors against the roof under the bed.

My eyes fell on a specific one that read; May we meet again.

"Here." She handed over a purple sticky note.

"Dreams are just misconceptions until you make them real." I read out loud.

That is actually accurate.

"Do you want to know something?" She adjusted as she asked until she was lying on her side.

I mirrored her lying position, and rested my head on my arm.

"Tell me."

"Those are Chloe's words. Clearly, she wanted me to be strong without her here. When I came to California and you were there at the airport alongside Brayden, those words became my daily reminder. Myles, you are my dream. I never assumed you would know I exist. I've written it down in my diary and here under this bed. I just wanted you to see me, to hug me, to know me, and to love me infinitely."

I moved closer and sank my fingers into her hair, brushing my lips against hers as she smiled. "Her memories taught me a lot after she left. And now Myles-" She pauses, lowers her head, and brings her hand to the hem of my shirt. "You're here... It's our dream come true." She added and looked up at me again, innocence and trust in her eyes.

"I am here." I wordlessly repeated and she took her hand over mine in her hair, leading it down along her neck, to her chest, and under her crop top, where she was bare and her nipples were puckered.

I froze. My breathing ceases.

"Make love to me, Myles." She bashfully articulated and many organs in my body squirmed at that instant.

This is Calista, the girl who gave me the taste of what love felt. The girl I've ever loved, the girl I would only love. I want to make love to her like lightning and rain, profound, and slow and then intense but gratifying in every way. She will feel it ripple through every ounce of her body and ignite the pace of her heart rate.

I inhale shakily at the sensation of her breast in my hand. My eyes close while I abruptly snatch her lips in mine.

She ceases breathing and shudders, her hands moving into my shirt. It gave me a head start. She really wanted it. She was really ready.

I want her desperately. I will love her, I would pleasure her. She will find it indefinable, unpredictable, and unrealistic, yet very real as I take and invade every single inch of her until I mark her mine forever.

CALISTA POV

"Calista." He gasped, drawing circles around my nipple, making it worse for me to control my feelings. My eyes shut at the sensation streaming down to my lower stomach.

I felt him getting closer. My eyes opened then and made contact with his lustful gaze. He didn't disconnect the stare, while his fingers cautiously folded my top to my chest, exposing my breast under his chin.

When he smiled desirably, I bit my lip and squeezed my legs to help whatever that was happening down there. He looked down finally, but it was briefly, his eyes slowly closed as his lips made contact with my nipple and his other big hand cupped the other breast, fondling it softly. My body jerked at the trace of his tongue and his thumb.

He did that for a while, I was out of breath, my body was trembling, and my eyes fluttered heavenward. He then lifted his head, slipping out of his shirt, his biceps flexing. His eyes shone in the dim space. Even that was enough to have me come in my panties.

I smiled nervously, my eyes dragging away from his intense stare. That's when I notice something under his pectoral, and my heart tightens at the scar, knowing he didn't used to have anything there.

"Hey? What's that?" My fingers tenderly traced the scar.

When I met his eyes, his lips pressed into a hard line and he exhaled.

"It doesn't matter."

"Was it Brayden?" I curiously asked, bitterness gushing in every part of me as the images from the event started replaying in my head.

Myles pushed his hair back and shook his head.

"It was from the surgery."

"That he caused." I sadly interjected, batting away the tears.

"He is just being a brother, Cal. I don't blame him for any of it. He believed what he heard. There was too much evidence brought up by Nelson that labeled me the worst man in everyone's perspective."

"How do you do it? Myles, what happened to you was so unfair. How do you act as though it never happened?" I swallowed the bile in my throat, tasting more bitterness in my mouth.

He only smiled and lowered, capturing my lips in his warm mouth.

"Those are my past. I am happy now. The presence and future are all that mattered." He mumbled after some moments and began leaving delicate kisses around my neck, and my chest, having my back arched and my hormones agitated.

"Myles?" I breathed, and he hummed in my neck.

"Everything... you are doing is only making it worse." I panted in between every word.

His face came out immediately. He looked half confused and half worried. His eyes narrowed.

"Did I do something wrong?"

I chew my inner cheeks from embarrassment, but I couldn't stop myself from blushing.

"Since last summer, something in me always throbs whenever you're around." my eyes remained steady on his perfect shoulder, as my fingers were caressing every inches of his flexing back. "And now, that you're doing all that, it's getting worse."

"What's that?" He asked, now he sounded amused.

Okay! How am I supposed to explain?

"Somewhere down." I waved my hands awkwardly. My eyes were embarrassingly closed.

"Down, where?" He taunted. I swear he was entertained by my embarrassment.

My hand came over my face and he chuckled.

"Cali, if you don't tell me, how can I know?"

"You are supposed to know," I muttered.

He grasped my nipple between his teeth gently.

"Is it here?" He asked and my head shook.

He kissed in between my breasts and asked again. He was obviously deliberately stalling. There is no way I will believe he didn't understand what I meant.

He kept going down the line dividing my ribs, kissing, nibbling, and asking if he was there yet. I began moaning at some point and he instantly covered my mouth with his palms, staring up with wide eyes.

"God, Cali. Have some self-control." He chortled, tight-lipped, and I struggle not to laugh.

Then he lowered his head back to my stomach, and his tongue rolled around my belly button. He spent what could be forever kissing those areas, making breathing extremely hard, given that, at the same time, we needed to be quiet, the walls were thin and the wooden floors creaked at every move we made.

At his touch, my stomach contracts, pleading with him to reach where it aches severely for him.

He stopped at the band of my shorts, his gaze was genuine. I saw his adoration, his devotion, his promises, and his love for me. He sighed and smiled slightly, his eyes batted softly.

His flawless chin rested just in the right place. "This is the best day of my life, Cali. Thank you." He whispered sincerely and I smiled back. My eyes watered for no reason as I watched him watch me. I was partially squirming underneath him at the sensation of his skin against my shorts.

Honestly, I didn't have a clue of what I needed, but he took off my shorts and reminded me what we could be, what we are, and what we have. He colored the memories and made love to me with tenderness.

That moment, under my bed, with Chloe's quotes sticking everywhere around us, was also the best day of my life. It was something I'd never had. Something I would never forget. Something I will look back on and smile at.

I just love him more than words can describe.
