Before we Begin, Ode to the Lord: o. sutekh

the desert passes through me, crystals of sand carried by the gelid breeze

they aren't coarse to me skin; they simply glide, like feathers over a trembling river

as the mirage of an oasis vanishes, revealing the atrocities of nature, i see you, dressed in scarlet and ochre

you are the desert's personification, the protector of winds and snakes, the infinite balance of chaos and calm

you, my lord, are a pillar to those who seek refuge, and in turn ask for nothing more,

except maybe a little bit of understanding, with a touch of patience, to endure the ever mysterious gaze of yours

you speak too much with that piercing stare, often unnerving me, often making me blush, deluging my mind with thoughts of what is beyond

you are what we might hate to be- so much of scars, so much of rebellion, so much of despise you wear

all gifts from your beloved humans, the days of glory being long gone

and yet, see me now, i seek to unravel your yarn, weave with your threads a naive dream of forever

have others too tried this before? know that my challenge is still greater than theirs, do not mistake me for your other lovers

i am not here to merely love you, adore you, beseech you to stay

i am here to be you, become you, name myself as sutekh.

This poem is not from any Versification prompt. Actually, today is the birthday of Sutekh or Seth, the Egyptian God. I have here connected him to desert, winds, snakes and the primordial chaos. This is my gift to him ❤️
