SIDECHAPTER 3
Frost Spirit
Outpost 32 was the same as it had always been, but it felt wrong. Frost Spirit had not recovered, even though it had been three months since he was wounded. He spent most of his time trying everything to heal himself, but to no avail.
It felt.. Hopeless. Pointless.
The biggest problem was the gaping hole in his wing. Everything else, if it could be healed, would be quite easy to. Since then, he had been unable to fly, making his life harder than it had already been.
As he sat down, he pondered what to do next.
***
The major battle between the Towers and the Eclipse army had been going on for nearly two weeks. The Towers had them pushed back to the tower outskirts, and they were planning their assault on the tower almost every second of the day. Time was running out for the higher-ups.
"Mistress, we need to do something."
The Umbra sighed as Penumbras continued.
"We're losing more as it progresses. We'd need a miracle if we were to hold on for at least another week. To at least get a chance to escape, we'd need to.. scare them with something.."
Umbra squinted at Penumbras as he stopped pacing.
"I know what to do."
Barely a moment later, Penumbras had walked over to the former tower Sledger's squad and said something to them. They all nodded, and Penumbras, along with his squad, teleported away.
"He better have had a good plan."

Frost Spirit was starting to get up when he heard a rock falling before hitting the ground. He quickly stood up and drew his scythe. He watched as a purple crystal was shot at him, nailing the ground next to him. He saw Penumbras walk onto the top of a hill and conjure four more.
Frost Spirit glared at him.
"You again? What do you want from me? Your friends already crippled me. What else can you take?"
Penumbras jumped down from the hill and conjured a sword.
"It's nothing personal."
Frost Spirit growled as him and Penumbras walked in a circle opposite of each other, waiting for the other to make the first move. Suddenly, Frost Spirit charged at Penumbras with his scythe, and both their weapons clashed for a moment. Penumbras moved his sword down the grip of Frost Spirit's scythe to get it stuck in the snow, but he was ready and kicked Penumbras backward before slamming his scythe into the ground, creating a shockwave of ice that froze Penumbras's arm and sword in place. Frost Spirit walked up to him and said with a grin;
"It's nothing personal."
As Frost Spirit raised his scythe to attack, Penumbras quickly used his other hand to fire a crystal directly into the angel's eye. Frost Spirit screeched and fell backwards. At that moment, Penumbras snapped his fingers, and the squad of Ghost Knights dropped down from the hill, all put their swords into the column of ice locking Penumbras in place, at all at the same time, snapped it open, freeing him. The former Sledger was about to jump down as well when Penumbras signaled for him to wait. Sledger obliged, and stayed.
Frost Spirit got up slowly, and tore the crystal out of his eye. He attempted to swing his scythe again, but he was surrounded too quickly, and was forced onto the ground. Penumbras began to walk toward Frost Spirit, and as he was, he gave the signal for Sledger to jump down, which he did. Penumbras reached Frost Spirit, and asked him a question.
"So. Are you going to comply, or not?"
Frost Spirit had just opened his mouth to respond when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Sledger approaching. He quickly turned his head and his eye widened. When Sledger had walked over, and was now standing directly beside him, Frost Spirit reached out his hand, and quietly whispered his name.
Penumbras looked at Sledger and nodded. Sledger nodded back before slamming his hammer down into Frost Spirit's hand.
Frost Spirit shrieked as he heard the snap of bone in his wrist.
"So, are you going to comply, or not?"
Frost Spirit responded by removing a hidden dagger from his cloak and slashing Penumbras across the face with it.
"I knew you wouldn't comply. It all went according to plan."
Frost Spirit's eye widened and he began to struggle as Penumbras pulled his sword out of the snow. In his last moments, he turned his head toward Sledger and quietly whispered to him.
"S..ledg.. er.."
Sledger stood still as Penumbras crouched down and slit the angel's throat.
Penumbras stood up, and beckoned his squad.
"We did what we came for. We can go now. No doubt the Towers will see this and will have to rethink something, letting us have a clean escape."
Penumbras began to walk away, and the squad of Ghost Knights followed. Sledger lingered. He glanced back at the body of Frost Spirit, who's body was already beginning to freeze over. Although Ice Titan's bodies freeze, their bodies do not do so fast enough to stop blood from flowing out. Outpost 32 would be stained by the blood of its protector forever longer.
Sledger turned away, and followed his squad.
