CHAPTER 2.5

I don't know why Paintballer asked me of all people to point to where Commander was. Everyone in camp knows I like to be left alone, and Gladiator has to stay far away, almost at all times. I don't know.. just every time I see a sword like that.. it just triggers something. Fight-or-Flight response within me. The only people I tolerate are Sniper and Mortar, although Mortar is riddled with his own problems. I just feel.. tired all the time. I'm more irritable, even Minigunner keeps his distance. Like I was low on power, all the time. Medic gave me of all people, extremely valuable antidepressants. I don't need them. Why me? I'm already nearly useless. Why don't they just cast me out and leave me to die? It makes far more sense then what they're doing now. Sometimes I wonder what Sledger's mind is like. He's not even technically alive. To think about it, it feels so serene to just not be able to feel anything. I barely feel better after taking the antidepressants. It just makes me want to close my eyes and perish. Medic always wants me to come to her office every Thursday to check on me for some reason. I never feel like myself, and I bet others don't really see the same in me either. Walking to her office feels miserable, but I can't do anything. I reach the office where she checks on me and-

"So, Gladiator, you found this.. other thing?"

"Yes, he actually put up quite a fight."

"Hmm.. that makes 3. This can't be a coinc-"

Me, Commander, Medic, and Gladiator all raise our heads when we hear running footsteps, slowly getting quieter, then the slam of a door.
Gladiator, still holding one of the pink-and-black being's swords, is the first to comment.

"So, uh.. anyone know who that was..?"

Medic responds by realizing something, before facepalming and beginning to walk out.

"Medic? What's up?"

Medic, her walk slowly breaking into a run, as she explained;

"I'm such an idiot! Of course I forget that it's Thursday today!"

"What happens on Thurs-"

"Ranger comes for me to check on him. You holding that sword probably triggered something. I need to get to him before his anxiety takes over!"

I'm such a moron! Now I have to leave because I forgot something crucial.

I leave the building just in time to see a red cape flowing into the Cliff's tent. I reach it, and slowly enter, to see Ranger curled up in a corner, trembling. He was hyperventilating, I need to try and break him out. I'm about to try and touch him to alert him that I'm here, just to remember that he developed severe Haphephobia, specifically on the back.

This checkup might be a bit more difficult than usual.
