I feel someone touching my arm. "Hey...what are you doing in here? Come on...it's time to get up."

My eyes flutter open to see Silver standing over me. I can't help but smile.

"Good morning...come on get up. We will eat a good breakfast and then head out alright."

I stand up and follow him out the door to come in contact with a blinding light. I shriek and close my eyes within seconds. I back myself back into the room where the sun can't touch me. I bump into objects and feel myself falling only I never hit the ground because he catches me just in time. "Whoa now...I got you." He gleams.

I look up at him through closed eye lids at first to make sure the light is not going to hurt and I notice we are back in the room. He is smiling down at me. He reaches over and grabs something off of the wooded surface. He them hands the object to me. "Here this will help."

"What is it?" I look at the shiny object and turn it over to look at it more with wondering curious eyes.

In return he laughs, "They are sunglasses, put them on they will help."I have no idea what he is talking about and where do I put them so he takes them back from me and opens them up and proceeds to place them on my face, covering my eyes. The room goes dark. He takes my hand and guides me back out the door and even though the sun is still out this time it's not as bad as it was before. I let him guide me over to the table surrounded by all the other beings. They are all eating.

I sit down and Silver is nice enough to fix me something to eat. I have no idea what this is and I look up at him like he can't be serious. "What is this?"

He points to each item as he tells me what it is. "This is deer, that is eggs and that's a bowl of oats. Would you like some berries as well." He reaches over and scoops out a spoon full of mixed berries."

I shake my head at him. "I...I can't eat this...we only eat from the land...not four legged beings." I look back at him and the others around us are laughing at my statement. But he smiles and takes the plate away and hands me another plate.

"Here...how's that...a banana, melon and more berries all straight from the earth."

I pick up the yellow thing that he calls a banana and take a bite. He laughs and takes it back from me and starts to peel the outer layer and then hands it back to me. I look down at my hand and notice these little bumps coming up all of a sudden. I start to panic. "What is happening to me?"

The Chief looks over to see me panicking. "The sun is not in your favor child; you need protection." He motions for his wife to get something and she comes back with this material and hands it to me. I look at her in confusion.

"It goes on like this." Silver grabs the cloth he is wearing. "Raise your arms." I imitate him and he slides on the thin material and it softly covers my body, shielding the sun from my skin. He reaches behind him and grabs another thing and places it on my head. "It's called a hat, it will help so the sun won't touch your face."

And he is right, my arms are covered, my face is covered and I feel strange wearing these things but at least I am able to tolerate the sun this way. When we are finished eating he gets up and I watch him as he gathers supplies to take with us.

Unfortunately it starts to rain and the Chief walks over to us. "Bad storm will be coming through...you will not be able to venture out today. Once it is gone then you may precede the trip."

"What is he saying?" I look up at Silver.

"There is a very bad storm coming through. We will have to wait."

"Storm...what ...But I have to get back...the sooner the better...I..."

"I know, I will help you alright but we have to wait. They say it will be a lot of rain...uhm...falling water from the sky and the wind will be rough." As he turns to look back at me this boy jumps on his back and rubbing the top of his head laughing. He bends over knocking the boy off of him and he lands with a thud into the ground. They both start laughing and he holds his hand out for the other to take. "Kaine, I could have killed you man."

When he stands up on both feet he stops to look over at me. "You are still here." He holds his hand out to me. "Hi...I'm Kaine." When I don't reach for his hand he looks a little upset. "Fine...no worries." He turns back to look at Silver. "Why is she still here?"

"She doesn't know how to get back home, so needless to say I am going to help her get back."

"Uhm...dude...if she doesn't know how in the hell are you supposed to know."

"We are going back to Caspen Mountain. She claims she went through the water, so I assume there must be a cave somewhere in the side."

"Yeah..." he laughs at that. "And how in the hell are you going to make it through the water...you won't be able to hold on from the force of it."

"I will figure something out."

"Yeah...well I am going with you. You can't do this on your own man."

"Kaine...we will be fine."

"Uhm...no you won't and you need me for this; I won't take no for an answer."

"Whatever man, we have to wait until after the storm passes so it may be a day or two."

"A day or two; I can't wait that long...by then it will be too late."

"You act like you are going to miss something."

I start pacing back and forth. My fingers are tingling all the way up to my neck and my insides are racing wild. I have to get back; I just have to. "It's just..." my eyes start to water up and I feel a stray going down my check.

Silver walks over to me and his hand catches the drop."Hey...I will get you home alright...be patient."

I nod. I don't say anything because how do I explain the one I love will be gone. As the day passes on by I watch the others in the tribe. I watch how they all help out each other and here it is so calm...almost like home. Except, this is not home. Nothing is right here. The woods are quite and the flowers don't respond to me. I see animals from afar and they look at me but turn their heads as if I don't belong here. They don't get me. The creatures back at home they understand me and are able to communicate. This place is so wrong.

I wonder the grounds until I come to this amazing woods and I look up at it and smile. "Help me up please." I ask but it doesn't move. Back home before I got my wings I could ask the woods for help and they would bring down their massive arms and let me climb up and then it would keep bending its arms just right until I was all the way at the very top. The views are amazing from up there. But here I am still with my feet on the ground. "I said...help me up." I say a little more demanding this time.I hear someone laughing behind me. I turn to see two girls looking back at me.

"Uhm...are you really talking to that tree?" The one girl says.

"Tree." I repeat with a confused expression. I look back up at the wooded being then back towards them. "Yes...the tree...but it's not doing as I say."

They both laugh at the same time. The other girl talks this time. "Trees don't listen or talk back...of course they are not going to do what you say."

"Oh...in my land they do."

"Yeah...right." They both giggle. "By the way I am Lainey...you may not remember us we were there when you fell from the cliff."

"I fell...you were there...you saw me."

"Uh...yeah...are you like crazy or something...suicidal maybe...no one in their right mind would jump form that distance."

"I didn't jump."

"Yeah...well...you fell and if it wasn't for Silver going back down after you, you would have died for sure."

"Silver...he saved me?" I think back in that moment I feel something wrap around my body and that kiss, if that is what they call it, that moment was breathtaking.

"Lucky for you he knows CPR."

"C-P-R." I repeat after them. I have no clue what they are talking about and they don't care to explain either. Of course it's not like they have time to explain because Silver and Kaine walk over beside us. The one girl jumps in Kaine's arms and their lips come in contact with each other and I should look away but this is all new to me so my eyes are focusing on their lips touching. I touch my lips for a second and lose concentration when Silver starts talking.

"So what are you girls doing over here?"

"We followed her over here; she thinks the trees can talk." She starts laughing again.

"Lainey stop...it's not that funny." Silver looks up at the tree and then back at me.

"Uhm...yes it is...she is crazy and you are taking up for her. You don't even know her."

"Her name is Azurite and I know all I need to know thank you," he says defensively.

"Ouch...you don't have to be so rude you know." She wrinkles up her nose at him.

"Can you guys leave us alone for a few minutes, please?"

"I got the girls man...come on Harper...Lainey...let the man have a moment." He winks at Silver and the three of them walk off.

Silver looks up at the tree and then back at me. He acts like he wants to say something but then looks down shaking his head. "Talking to trees?"

"Don't look at me like that. What is wrong with this place? Everything is like, like dead. Nothing responds to me...like this tree." I walk over and look for a way up the tree. "I want it to lift me up so that I can see for afar...but it refuses to do anything, to help me out. Why won't it help me?"

He smirks. "Well first of all tress don't talk...it's not like they have a voice...a way of thinking like we do."

"Then what is its purpose here...in my land they do."

"That's not possible; trees don't talk. They are here to provide oxygen for the world." He looks at me like I have really lost my mind. I don't argue back. What is the point? Instead I find a way to climb up the tree and I keep going. "You are going to fall from there...you need to come back down." He calls from the ground. But I don't stop, I continue to go all the way up. If the tree is not going to help me up...fine I will do it all by myself.

When I reach the very top arm, I am able to see so far, trees and more trees. I had hoped I would be able to see my way home but there is no use...I am in the middle of nowhere. I hold onto the arm and hear someone coming up from under me. Silver comes into view.

"How did you climb up here?"

"How did you?"I feel myself caving in all of a sudden. Water flows from my eyes. "I'm never going back home am I...I won't survive living here you know that right."

"Azurite...hey...look at me. Everything is going to be fine...I will not let you die here."

"You can't save me...if I don't make it back to my land...I will die."

"I will help you get back. I promised you I would try."

"But you don't know where I live...you don't know how to get me there and even if you do I will no longer belong there."

"Are you saying they will disown you?"

I shrug, letting my head fall downward and more tears come. His arms brace me and he holds me there, looking out in the horizon.
