Song- Handfast Bessing

Jade:

The moment that Thristle turns his massive body I knew he knocked her off her feet. I watched as her limp body tumbled farther into the darkness. I knew if I grabbed the pouch the Painite would be in there and so I didn't waste any time at all snatching it and flying back up on Thristle's back. "Hurry...now...let's get back." I tap my legs against his sides and he flies out of the cave.

I glance back a few times just to see if she is coming and to my advantage she is not. I should go back and check on her but it deserves her right. Azurite has always managed to get her little hands on Scolecite. All through lessons she has found a way to be his partner. Every chance they get she is with him and she knows I have always had a huge crush on him. This time, this time he will me mine once and for all.

We fly out of the one section of the cave. The part we were always told not to venture to but if Malachite says anything about it I will just have to tell him it was her doing. She is the one that went that way; I just followed after her. We make our way to the Dias and Malachite, my grandfather is there waiting on our return.

I see his eyes brighten up the moment he sees me and he has the widest grin ever. He knows that I have won the quest. I have captured the Painite. I fly off of Thristle's back and fly towards Malachite. He has his arms open wide for me and I let him embrace me. "My child...do you have it?"

I nod with excitement. I open the pouch and let the exquisite gem fall into his hands. The moment it lands he makes this loud screeching sound. "I am glad to announce the winner...my grand-daughter...Jade." He reaches for my hand and throws it up in the air to show me off. The gem sparkles in his other hand to show everyone that I have won.

He turns towards Scolecite and motions for him to stand up with us. Everyone is there watching even Amethyst and Ruby but no Azurite. I smirk at the thought that maybe, just maybe she is history for good. "Tomorrow we will have the ceremony of Scolecite and Jade. We will all witness the bonding of their new life together."He takes my hand and Scolecite's and joins them together.

I am overjoyed because never have I been able to hold his hand, never have I been this close to him. I glance up at him with awe but I see it in his eyes, he truly is not in love with me. Once Malachite flies away Scolecite let's go of my hand.

"Where is Azurite? She should be here by now?"

"I left her in the Onyx quarters...she was fine when I left her there." I try reaching back for his hand but he moves backwards a step.

"Onyx quarters...we are not allowed to go in that area...why were you there?" He hisses at me.

"She went that direction...she...she..."

"She what?" At that moment we both hear Rowan, he is making this god awful sound. Scolecite turns to look at me and not only a look but a look of haltered. "What did you do?"

"I...I won the quest that is what I did...get over it Scolecite...Azurite is just mad that I won...she will be fine you will see...she can marry next year."

I roll my eyes at him. "Something is wrong Jade...don't you get that...Rowan never leaves her."

He flies over to Rowan and talks in his ear. I know what he will do and he does. I watch as he jumps on his back and they fly off. You got to be kidding me, I won, I won and he is still going after her. This is not allowed and he knows it. I huff and go back to the celebration. When he returns a few hours later, I watch him go up to Malachite and he is holding something in his hands.

Scolecite:

The moment I see her fly into the area every part of me is devastated. I know by her expression that she has won. I just can't imagine my life with her. I am forced to take her hand but the moment Malachite lets go I release her hand. I know something is wrong I just know she is hurt somewhere. She would have been fighting till the bitter end for the Painite.

We have talked many many moons and under the millions of stars about our love for one another. And the moment I see Rowan without her I know something really bad has happened. I fly off to greet him and whisper in his ear. "Where is she Rowan; you must take me to her?" I fly up on his back and he guides me to her.

We fly deeper in the cave and he takes me to the Onyx quarters. This is the deeper part of the cave. Every since I can remember we were told to never come this way. I never really knew why but we were always told this is where the Goblins live and they do not like the winged beings, like us. I fly off and look around. Glitter is everywhere thrown here and there along with flowers that both of them were wearing.

I know Jade was here and I know something really bad has happened the moment my eyes catch a strand of her silky blue hair. I search around forever and even go farther into the Onyx quarters. I come to an opening, this massive body of water and I wonder is it possible that she fell to her death. This amount of water at one time will shred your wings and cause one to fall to their death. Just thinking about it brings me down to my knees and I grasp the strand of her hair in my hands and cry. I sniff her hair and the tears just keep coming. I'm not sure how long I stay there knowing she is gone breaks my heart.

I finally get up the nerve to go back and the moment I see Malachite I fly over to him. "Malachite...I believe she is gone."

He looks down at me in bewilderment. "Who is gone?"

"Azurite." I hold up the strand of hair with their flowers to show him. "They must have fought with each other...they fought for the Painite."

"And...there are no rules you know that...Jade won fair and square."

"Yes I know...but I think Azurite is dead. You see I found this in the Onyx quarters and..."

"Onyx quarters..." He bellows..."We are all forbidden to go there." He looks around the room and motions for Jade.

She flies over still smiling ear to ear."Yes." She says showing off all her pearly white teeth.

His eyes narrow at her in madness. "You were in Onyx quarters...may I dare ask why?"

"I was going after the Painite...She had it...I wanted it...I got it fair and square." She glares at me daring me to say something to her.

"You fought for it?" He holds out his hand for her to see the flowers and the strand of hair.

"Not really...it was just a little scuffle...she will be fine. You will see...she will be here tomorrow."

I hiss back, "She is gone Jade...are you happy...are you...she is gone forever." I say it loud enough that others hear the news and before Malachite makes the announcement everyone already knows.

"That is enough...Scolecite. May I have your attention." He turns to everyone that is already looking at him for confirmation. "Apparently we have lost a fallen Fairy...Azurite was last seen in the Onyx quarters...you all have been warned not to go there...you were warned...you know you don't have fighting chance of surviving that area...Jade was fortunate to survive. I beg no one...no one to ever go there how many times do you have to be warned...this is for your own good. We will wait three moons...if she doesn't come back will have her parting ceremony...until then we will still continue on with the wedding tomorrow."

Everyone goes back to talking with each other. I watch as Jade prances around excited for what is to come. I on the other hand break down on the inside. I just can't celebrate when the love of my life is gone.

I have a very difficult time sleeping. I keep having flash backs of our life together. I can't believe she is never returning back to me. I am forced to get up and get ready. I am made to wear this white silk leaf that matches my massive white wings. I stand and wait on the Dias, where I am suppose to be. I keep looking in every direction but her way.

She is standing in front of me with the brightest green eyes looking back at me. She is wearing this dark forest green dress and her body shimmers of glitter. I will say she is beautiful and I shouldn't complain about being with her; however I just don't have those feeling for her like I do Azurite.

When I look at Azurite her eyes are the bluest of blue and they make my heart melt. I can look into her eyes and it's like I can see her whole being inside and when I look at Jade, I just see this green mush nothing like Azurite's. And it's not just the eyes, hell it's everything. Everything about her makes me complete and now I'm just broken.

Malachite stands between us and takes our hands and forces us to hold each others. I have trouble with this but Jade doesn't. She is still in smiles. I just want to scream. I hate this; I hate all of it.
