And So It Begins.

A young man sat at his desk staring at the computer screen in front of him as he impatiently awaited the results of wolf girl's DNA.
It had been a very long night of running tests and the young man was exhausted. So far the results showed nothing, she seemed to be a completely normal girl but the security cameras proved that she was FAR from normal.
Running his hands over his gelled curls he released a low sigh of annoyance before his brown eyes raised to the screen once again.
" Urgh, what makes you special, babes?! Why are you different?!" The scientist yelled to the computer screen while violently slamming his hand onto the desktop, rattling the empty coffee cup that sat next to his computer.
As if someone had heard his outburst the computer suddenly beeped, pulling up a strand of DNA that the man had never seen before. Sure, everyone's code was different but this one seemed to be completely circling all of her cells, forcing them to evolve into better versions of what they were. It was a mutation in her genes that seemed to have been unlocked through the serum and possibly something else. He had only seen this once before and had never managed to find it again aside from... That night.
He'd been carefully monitoring her DNA for any similar changes through a constant drawing of her blood directly into a database that tested every little change within her coding though he hadn't seen anything like this in a very long time.
He stared slack jawed at the computer for a while, not completely believing what he saw on the screen. He rubbed his sleep deprived eyes before he quickly called up the main guard he knew was working tonight.
" What do you want?" A male's gravelly voice grumbled through the phone. The voice belonging to the one who had tranquilized Joelee earlier.
" Axle, I've found it. I've got the key to unlocking the powers, sir." The young man said slowly, causing a long silence to ensue before the phone went muffled as though it had been covered.
There was soft murmuring on the other end for a while as light shuffling was heard and a very distinct voice entered the phone.
" We are on our way, Doyle." The Boss woman said before hanging up, though Doyle did not have time to figure out why exactly Axle was with her so late in the night.
The young man quickly saved the files, feeling giddy. Maybe now he could finally get some rest.
The Boss woman entered the room after what seemed like forever to the young man, she was followed by a few scientists who quickly looked over Doyle's work.
" Well?" The Boss lady asked impatiently, her arms crossing over her chest as she narrowed her dark green eyes at them.
" He's right ma'am. He's done it." Doctor Banner whispered, brown eyes wide as he studied the new DNA source with an unreadable expression.
" Well, then. Let's try again on another subject. But first... Bring in the wolf girl and run more tests. See if you can alter it further." The Boss turned without another word and stalked off, heels clicking against the ground as she did.
Doyle watched her go, eyes watching her regal movements just to be sure he had even seen her there. It was rare to see The Boss around the facility, only recently had she been seen for the first time in over a year. It was like she knew exactly when she would get results.
She would always show up right on time to witness something fascinating.
The scientists once again left to fetch the wolf girl while Doyle began packing up his gear, eager to get some rest before he faltered as he noticed Axle in the corner of the room still.
" Problem, sir?" Doyle questioned curiously, shutting off his computer after he typed a code into it, eyeing the older male warily from the corner of his eye as he gripped a scalpel just barely hidden from Axle's view.
Axle was quite a bit taller than Doyle's 6'2 frame, standing at around 7'4 with a mass of broad muscles just adding to his intimidating appearance. His face was marked with a variety of scars, leaving his right eye almost completely blind with a rather nasty knife wound cutting across the length of his face. His brown hair was buzzed down to almost nothing and his eyes were a dark brown.. Well... One was. The other was quite a bit more faded from his lack of total vision in that specific eye as the wound affected his vision.
" The Boss is requesting your presence, Doyle." Axle said in his low, gravelly voice as he eyed Doyle with an emotionless expression.
" May I ask why? She could've spoken with me while she was here." Doyle lifted his head defiantly as he glared back at Axle, his confidence immediately dissipating as the older male stared him down.
" No." With that simple word, Axle's hand rested on the holster at his hip, his eyes challenging the much younger male to react in a way that Axle didn't like.
" Got it." Doyle murmured as he walked towards Axle, hands shaking a bit as he opened a filing cabinet, taking a folder from the large cabinet before he walked over to his desk. Using the folder to hide his actions, he placed the scalpel under the mousepad for when he was sure he would need it later.
" Lead the way." He continued, voice a lot less confident than before at the aspect of what he knew was to happen, placing a piece of paper into the file before he once again returned it to its original place.
Axle clasped a large hand over Doyle's shoulder, guiding the slightly shorter male from the lab. Doyle hesitated for a moment to flip off the light before taking a deep breath as he accepted his fate and followed the large male to his destination.

Nathan rolled over in his rickety old bed with a soft sigh of annoyance, his green gaze falling on the steadily marked off calendar on his wall. He had used the same calendar for over four years now, as proven by four X's that marked each date.
" Happy birthday, Joe." He whispered sadly. It had been four years since he had last seen his friends and girlfriend and he missed them all terribly. He wished more than anything to see the light of day again... At least once.
Tears ran down his cheeks and he gave a sharp inhale to clear his thoughts. He remembered playing video games with his best friend and brother figure, Kent... He remembered hanging out with his friends at camp... It was all so bittersweet to the nineteen year old now.
" Who?" His new... More nosy neighbor asked curiously, Nathan's irritation immediately flaring at the sound of the male's voice.
Ever since the cell transfer, his new neighbor had done everything in his power to annoy Nathan. Constantly trying to start conversations and rambling about things that Nathan didn't even care about. He missed his old roommate, at least she respected his silence. Nathan sniffled quietly, his sadness replaced by annoyance now as his thoughts drifted from the past to now.
" Hey, are you crying?" His neighbor called, making Nathan turn to glare at the wall, hands balling into fists as he struggled to control his breathing.
" Leave me alone." He snapped, wanting nothing more than to be alone with his thoughts.
" Fine... Geez, mister grumpy pants." His neighbor sighed, voice sounding rather hurt by Nathan's harsh words but Nathan didn't particularly care. A sigh escaped Nathan after a moment, realizing he was going nowhere with wallowing in self pity... Plus talking to someone without repercussion was rare and he might as well use the new guard rotation to his advantage.
" What do you want?" Nathan muttered finally despite his better judgement... He knew they might get in trouble if one of the replacement guards overheard but he supposed it didn't really matter.
" Well I'd really enjoy leaving. But we can't all have what we want now can we?" The boy snickered, causing Nathan to release a soft chuckle, shaking his head in amusement before all went silent again.
" Joe... Is that your boyfriend?" The male asked, making Nathan laugh quietly as he thought about the short, blonde haired woman he called his friend.
" My girlfriend... Well... Maybe.'' He corrected before his smile faded as he pondered wether or not he could actually call her that. She'd probably already moved on by now and they hadn't left off on the best of terms.
It had been so long and they were so young, there's no way someone would wait for a partner they thought was dead... Let alone with how they'd left things.
" Odd name for a girl...." The boy muttered before quickly going silent as two large guards walked past his cell.
Nathan sighed as the guards unlocked his cell with a scan of the butterfly tattoo on the smaller guards wrist, both walking in with the smaller male pointing a gun at Nathan's chest.
" Keep your hands up and don't make any sudden moves or we will shoot." The larger guard said as he held up a pair of handcuffs while the smaller guard said nothing but he did move his hand to the holster on his hip.
Nathan rolled his darker green eyes but did as he was told, his hands raising into the air slowly as not to agitate the two male's.
The larger guard roughly grabbed Nathan's wrists, forcing them down and slapping a pair of handcuffs tightly around his wrists before the three started walking. The cell door slammed shut behind them and Nathan caught a brief glance at the outline of his new neighbor who waved a bit at the dark haired male.
Nathan was silent, knowing that if he tried to fight back again, he would be killed. He'd already put two guards in the hospital in an attempt to escape which is most likely why these two guards were being incredibly cautious about the young male.
Nathan's eyes narrowed as he glared dangerously at his scientist who gave the young boy a broad grin as he lowered the IV line that he would attach to Nathan's wrist.
This should be fun.

Loud...
That was the only word Joelee could think of though she supposed loud couldn't even begin to cover how intense the sound that filled her head was.
Joelee covered her ears with her hands, trying to drown out the noise. But it didn't help. In fact the noise got louder.
It sounded as if thousands of people were all speaking and screaming in her head. A never ending void of words, scrambled into random sentences that she couldn't understand or even begin to decipher what they were saying.
" What did you do to me?!" Joelee screamed at the security camera, eyes glowing gold with fear as she struggled to control her breathing. Tears ran down her cheeks as she began to rock from where she now sat on the ground, fear and claustrophobia causing her chest to tighten.
The hum and voices in her head only grew louder as she pressed her hands tighter over her ears yet again, eyes glowing a what seemed to be a yellow color now.
Joelee whimpered as she released her head, instead digging her nails into the scabbed over marks on her palms.
The voices began to grow softer as blood dripped from her palms, her breathing heavy and uneven as she stared down at her bloody hands.
" It worked. We will begin testing on-" A female voice cut through the humming before it got cut off as everything quieted down a bit and Joelee tilted her head to the side.
" What's going on?" She whispered as she began rubbing the side of her index finger with the tip of her thumb, looking back up at the window as she forced her breathing to slow.

Alyssa sat up quickly, heart pounding loudly in her chest as she was jolted awake by her cell door sliding open.
" Get up, keep your hands behind your head." A very mean looking guard snapped as he threateningly waved a metal baton.
Alyssa sighed but did what she was told, hands raising to rest behind her head as she stood slowly to walk towards the much larger guard.
" Try anything and I'll shoot you, boy. Got it?" A guard in the cell next to Alyssa's said to Blake, but Alyssa chose to ignore it as she instead eyed her guard curiously.
" Where are we going?" Alyssa asked her guard who slapped her across the face, the stinging pain causing tears to flood her vision.
" Ow!" Alyssa yelled before her wrists were cuffed together and she was dragged from her cell by her shackles.
Alyssa glanced over her shoulder and to catch a glimpse of Blake, straining her neck to see around her guards rather large form.
" Woah, he got tall!" Alyssa exclaimed despite the fact she was being dragged away, the guard beside her tightening his grip on her cuffs as he gritted his teeth in annoyance.
" Just knock her out." The guard on the right side of Alyssa snapped before something slammed against the back of her head and everything went black.

A woman sat leaned against the metal frame of her bed, eyes scanning the pages of her book as she tapped the back of her book rather nervously for fear of being caught. She had ankle length, light mousy brown hair that was a messy of knots and waves from the years it had gone without a proper brushing. Her eyes a mix of light blue and green, giving them almost a turquoise appearance, lidded with light brown eyelashes. Her face was round though her frame was petite and almost frail in stature, lips a slighter darker shade of pale pink than her skin was.
When she was young, she wanted to save people. She wanted to become a nurse to do her part in helping anyone in anyway she could.
Sure there was no way she'd ever become a nurse now but... Why not?
The past hour she'd heard lots of commotion from the neighbouring cells which made her curious. But she didn't dare move from the bed, she continued to read as if nothing was happening.
She knew that she'd eventually find out what exactly was causing the commotion and it was better not to ask questions.
Especially with the way her assigned guard treated her.
Her cell door slid open and her guard grinned maliciously at the long haired woman, twirling his baton before he pointed it at her threateningly.
" Get up, nurse Rachel." The guard teased as he always did, his words doing nothing to hurt her feelings now as she had grown numb to his constant taunting.
Rachel was belittled and berated for her lifelong dream of wanting to be a nurse and her guard made sure she knew full well that she would never fulfill her dream.
Rachel did as told, keeping silent, the guard seemed nice but he was very cruel, as Rachel knew from the many healing bruises that littered her arms and stomach.
" Good girl." The guard cooed like he was talking to a dog, hazel eyes boring into her as he watched her movements closely.
Rachel didn't say anything as she put her hands behind her head, it was better just to do as he said.
Her bluish green gaze glanced in the direction of a door opposite of the labs but didn't dare try to make a run for it. The guard dragged her towards a room that she had never seen before, the bright lights causing her to squint to adjust her eyes to the blinding room.
Her scientist smiled at the younger girl as she was dragged over to an examination table which
'What's going on?' Rachel thought to herself as she watched more kids being dragged from their cells before the laboratory door was slammed shut.
