A P P L Y - C L O S E D

Am I vague? Less so than usual, but still. I wouldn't blame you if you were confused. Anyway, I am really digging stories about college students. They are an untapped market, and I intend to exploit that. This is going to be fun, I promise. Only a little devastating.

Basically, here is the premise! The RAs have to stay for 24 hours after the last exam to make sure every student has left the building, and by the time they are all getting ready to leave, the storm hits their university town in the upper peninsula of Michigan. They might be stuck there for the entirety of the winter break, so that sucks for them.

I'll be accepting somewhere around eight characters. I always say fewer and then accept way more than I wanted to accept.

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

| If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. My inbox is open and I try to answer as soon as possible.

| You'll be more likely to be selected if you are unique from other applicants. This applies to genders, personalities, MAJORS, etc. Backstories and personalities are important too.

| Whatever you think about RAs from personal experience, think again! They can be just as big of party animals, or just as stupid, or all that stuff, as any student. So, just make your OC like you would any other college student.

| Please be detailed. The more detail the better. Seriously. I love reading long applications so it's you don't have to worry about being too long (within reason, because if it is as long as the Tempest I will not read it).

| If I'm not writing your character properly, please let me know. I try really hard but I definitely have made mistakes. I won't take it personally. Also, I might need to ask you a question and if you don't answer I'm making decisions on my own! The password is your favourite winter activity.

| Applications are due October 14! Let me know if you need an extension. I might change the due date, but I've made it shorter because I always reduce it. I'm flexible, but that's the general rule.

MY OC

NAME: Galilee Diane Larsen

NICKNAMES: Gally and Gals

PREFERRED NAME: she has a soft spot for nicknames but introduces herself by Galilee

AGE: 20

GENDER AND PRONOUNS: female, she/her

SEXUALITY: bisexual and in the closet

FACE CLAIM: Sarah Catherine Hook

PERSONALITY: Galilee is pretty shy. She is kind and sweet, and definitely has trouble making eye contact. People tend not to take her seriously. She is one of the RAs that students who aren't on her floor go to when they need someone to chat with because she is very personable and good at listening. Galilee has been forced to come out of her shell as of late because she is seen as an authority figure as an RA. Her voice is soft and high, and she is always laughing. In emergencies, she can be serious, but she struggles to take charge. She likes to take the back seat and listen. She is not very brave, and she will say hard truths if they are forced out of her because she does not like to lie. She takes her job pretty seriously so she is hard-working, dedicated, and good at time management. She is cautious and cheerful but prone to downward spirals in disasters. She finds it frustrating that freshmen won't respect her authority, but makes no strives to change. Galilee also really wants to make friends with the other RAs. When push comes to shove though, she's got her own back before anyone else.

APPEARANCE: no differences :)

BACKSTORY: Galilee was raised as the oldest sister in a pretty intense household. Her parents are Mormon family vloggers. They started when she was around ten, and they have grown a pretty significant online presence. She's only been recognized once at college, so at least there is that. From a young age, Galilee was responsible for her siblings. Once the third child Jossilyn was old enough to help (she is five years younger than Galilee), there was a bit of a burden off Galilee's shoulders. She was forced to be on camera from a young age, having conversations and moments that ought to be private instead shared publicly for their audience. Galilee didn't want for much as a child, but she knew that everything she was given was accompanied by the expectation of being filmed. As soon as Galilee could get out, she did. She convinced her parents to let her go to a private Mormon high school, since she and her siblings had been homeschooled up until then. After, she applied to a Mormon college and Darnley University in Michigan and eventually went. Her parents, to save face, pretend to publicly support her decision, but they are mad that Galilee is distancing herself not just from them, but their faith and their audience. She still comes home for the summer and holidays, and is still on camera, and she is unhappy about it. She feels the worst for her littlest siblings who have only ever been filled, and she frequently fights with the second child Braxton who is a misogynist, and Jossilyn who doesn't understand why Galilee wants independence and left her to take care of the others. At college, Galilee started to do dance classes which weren't permitted when she was a child. She's also in the newspaper club, taking photos behind the camera instead of being in them. Between being an RA, those two hobbies, reading, and her studies, she is very busy.

FAMILY: Kaidence Larsen (38, mom), Elijah Larsen (43, dad). Brothers: Braxton Larsen (17), Layton Larsen (14), Cohyn Larsen (10), Dallin Larsen (7) and Glade Larsen (6). Sisters: Jossilyn Larsen (15), Dinah Larsen (8), Brighten Larsen (5), McKell Larsen (4), and Afton Larsen (1). Her parents are trying for one more to get 12 which is a religious number for Mormons, but Afton was already a miracle.

LIKES/DISLIKES/FEARS: taking photos just for her, being off social media, reading, dancing, small get together, music (all sorts, as long as it is secular), being outdoors/being on camera, being recognized in public, being forced into the limelight, warm weather/being forced to return to her parents, being shamed and shunned by her family (as much as she doesn't get along with them always, she loves them and wouldn't know what to do without them), moving back to Utah and falling into the same patterns as her parents.

MAJOR: English

YEAR: 3rd year

WHY THEY ARE AN RA? IS THIS THEIR FIRST TIME?: She became an RA because it's cheaper and because she was told it would force her out of her shell. She couldn't afford to live off-campus (she has a free ride scholarship thankfully)

WHAT'S THEIR REACTION TO BEING STUCK? WHAT ARE THEY MISSING AT HOME?: Galilee is ashamed to say it, but the first thing she feels is relief. She isn't going to have to go back home. Then, guilt, and a bit of terror at the idea that no one knows how long they will be stuck together in their building.

SONG(S) FOR YOUR CHARACTER: The Village by Wrabel, Family Line by Conan Grey, and Why Am I Like This? by Orla Gartland

QUOTE(S): I'm bad at this so it isn't happening.

ANY ADDITIONAL TRIVIA: She has very few of her own friends because she isn't sure how to make them

IS A LOVE INTEREST OKAY?: Uh, yup.

IS DEATH OKAY?: Yuppers.

ALCOHOL IS GOING TO BE PART OF THE STORY. DOES YOUR CHARACTER DRINK?: Galilee, surprisingly, is okay with drinking. She's really only ever had drinks with coworkers on their social nights, but still.
