Potions

Hermione's POV

I'm heading to potions, one of my favorite classes. But I like pretty much every class so it doesn't matter. I enter the classroom and take my seat next to Harry. "Hey Hermione," he greets me. "Hi Harry," I reply. "I heard that we're going to be working in partners today, and for the rest of the week," he mentions. "Oh okay, do you know if we'll be able to choose our partners?" I ask. "Unfortunately, I don't know," he says. "Let's cross our fingers for choosing partners," I say, crossing my fingers. He nods in agreement, crossing his fingers also. Professor Snape walks in the room and stands behind his desk. "As you all might have noticed, there are some supplies on each desk, that is because we will be conjuring different potions and spells this week. You will work with a partner, and that person will be your partner all week," he announces, waiting for the class to react. All the students that were paying attention nod. He continues, "I assigned you your partners." The whole class makes noises of disappointment or annoyance. "Shh, no complaints or I'll send you to Dumbledore's office," he says seriously. Everyone shuts up. "Here are the partners," he says as he starts calling peoples names. I ignore all the names, just waiting to hear mine. I watch Harry walk over to Luna Lovegood. Ron joins Lavender Brown. "Granger," Professor Snape announces, making sure I'm paying attention. I nod, showing him that he can continue. "Granger and Malfoy," he announces, giving me an evil glare. I look over to Draco, he was already looking at me. He raises his eyebrows and smirks. I roll my eyes and gather my stuff. I walk over to him and take the seat to the right of him. "Hello Granger," he greets. "Hello Malfoy," I reply, already annoyed. "So, do you know how to make this potion?" He asks, pointing to the title of a page in our potions book. "Yes, of course I do," I say. "Right, I forgot, you know everything," he replies, but not in a rude way. "I don't know everything," I state. "Yeah, I agree, you know a lot of school stuff but you don't know stuff like peoples family, friends, or crushes," he replies. "But I wish I did know some of those things," I say. "Really? I'd be willing to tell you anything you want," he says, smiling. "Really? Anything? Since when were you willing to tell me anything?" I ask, confused. "Since I got a..." he pauses, as if deciding to tell me or not. "Got a what?" I ask. "Uh, nothing," he says, blushing. "You said you were willing to tell me anything and I get this?" I say. "Um, yes, sorry," he says innocently, blushing even harder. "Why are you blushing?" I ask curiously. "What he was trying to say was, since I got a crush on you. But he was too nervous," a boy near Draco interupts. "Shut it, Goyle!" Draco yells. Snape doesn't even seem to notice. But the rest of the class stops whats they're doing and stares at us. "What are you looking at? Get back to your potions, you silly fools!" Draco yells. Everyone returns to their projects. Draco looks at me, embarrassed. "I'm sorry," he says. "Sorry for what?" I ask, he has nothing to be sorry about. "I'm sorry for liking you," he says, heartbroken. "No, don't be sorry, it's fine, there's nothing wrong with having a crush on me," I reply kindly. "Thanks," he responds, regaining his smile. I start to put the ingredients of the potion into the cauldron. "Hermione, I'm also sorry about the way I treated you for the past few years," he says, losing his smile once again. I look up at him and smile. "It's okay, I forgive you," I say. He smiles again. I suddenly realize how adorable he is and I start to stare into his beautiful grey eyes. Oh my god, I have a crush on him too. He suddenly lifts my chin to make me face him more directly. I start blushing. He leans in really close to me and our lips lightly brush against each other. Suddenly some steam blows onto our faces. I pull away and look down, the potion! I hadn't been paying full attention to it so it burst out of the cauldron. I give a good look at Draco, his face is covered in ash. Mine is too, probably. Then someone laughs. I look around to find the laughing person. It's Snape. Oh shoot, did he see all of that? "That was one of the most hilarious things I've seen in a long time, two teens about to have their first kiss, and getting interupted by a boiling potion! Haha!" He exclaims. I feel myself blush again, out of embarrassment. "Sir, are you going to punish us?" Draco asks quietly. "Nah, no big deal," Snape replies. And I believe that he's not punishing us because Draco is one of his favorite students. "Thank you sir," Draco and I say at the same time. "You're welcome," he replies, smirking. I turn to look at Draco, he's already looking at me. "This week is going to be fun," he says mischievously. I nod in agreement, smiling widely.

Draco's POV

I arrive in potions, my favorite class, and teacher, Professor Snape. I take my seat next to Crabbe. Then the most beautiful girl enters the classroom, Hermione Granger. I developed a crush on her a few months ago. She sits next to Harry, because that's her assigned seat. Her and Harry start a conversation and I look away in jealousy. "Something wrong, Draco?" Crabbe asks, nudging my shoulder. "Nah, I'm fine," I lie. "Okay," he replies, believing me. Snape enters the room and stands behind his desk. "As you all might have noticed, there are some supplies on each desk, that is because we will be conjuring different potions and spells this week. You will work with a partner, and that person will be your partner all week," he announces. Almost everyone nods. "I assigned you your partners," he finishes. The whole class makes noises of annoyance.
"Shh, no complaints or I'll send you to Dumbledore's office," he says seriously. Everyone shuts up. "Here are the partners," he says as he starts announces names. I ignore all the names, only listening for mine. Please be with Hermione, please. I cross my fingers. "Granger," Snape announces, pausing. I look over and see her nod eagerly. "Granger and Malfoy," he continues, giving Hermione a death stare. She looks over to me. I raise my eyebrows and smirk. She rolls her eyes and gathers her stuff. She walks over to me and takes the seat to the right of me. "Hello Granger," I say, while turning to the page we need in our book. "Hello Malfoy," she responds, sounding annoyed. "So, do you know how to make this potion?" I ask, pointing to the name of the potion. "Yes, of course I do," she replies. Right, she's a nerd, she knows everything about school. I was so stupid to ask that question. "Right, I forgot, you know everything," I try to say in a non-rude way. "I don't know everything," she states. "Yeah, I agree, you know a lot of school stuff but you don't know stuff like peoples family, friends, or crushes," I say. "But I wish I did know some of those things," she answers. "Really? I'd be willing to tell you anything you want," I say, smiling. "Really? Anything? Since when were you willing to tell me anything?" She asks, looking confused. "Since I got a..." I start to say. Should I tell her that I like her? I don't know. "Got a what?" She asks. I decide not to tell her, she might hate me even more if she knew that I liked her. "Uh, nothing," I say, blushing. Damn it Draco! Stop blushing! "You said you were willing to tell me anything and I get this?" She asks. "Um, yes, sorry," I say, blushing even more. "Why are you blushing?" She asks curiously. Shh, keep it together Draco. "What he was trying to say was, since I got a crush on you. But he was too nervous," I hear Goyle say from behind me. "Shut it, Goyle!" I yell. I notice that the whole class is now staring at us. "What are you looking at? Get back to your potions, you silly fools!" I yell, annoyed. Everyone stops staring and returns to their projects. I look at Hermione, blushing from embarrassment. "I'm sorry," I say. "Sorry for what?" She asks. "I'm sorry for liking you," I say, my heart breaking. "No, don't be sorry, it's fine, there's nothing wrong with having a crush on me," she replies kindly. "Thanks," I reply, smiling again. She starts dumping the ingredients for the potion into the cauldron. "Hermione, I'm also sorry about the way I treated you for the past few years," I say, losing my smile once again. She looks up at me and smiles. "It's okay, I forgive you," she says. I regain my smile. I notice her staring into my eyes, my plain, boring, cold grey eyes. What does she see in them? I decide to take a risky move. I lift her chin to make her face me more directly. I notice her blush. I move my face closer to hers and our lips brush against each others lightly. Then suddenly some steam blows onto our faces. She pulls away and looks down. I look down along with her. Then she looks at me. I look back at her, her face is covered in ash. She's probably thinking the same thing as me, I can see it in the look on her face. Then I hear someone laugh. It's Snape so I decide to turn and look at him. "That was one of the most hilarious things I've seen in a long time, two teens about to have their first kiss, and getting interupted by a boiling potion! Haha!" He yells happily. Out of the corner of my eye I notice Hermione blush, probably out of embarrassment. "Sir, are you going to punish us?" I ask shyly, not wanting to get in trouble. "Nah, no big deal," he replies. "Thank you sir," Hermione and I say at the same time. "You're welcome," he replies, smirking. I turn to look at Hermione, waiting for her to do the same. She finally does. "This week is going to be fun," I say mischievously. She nods and smiles widely. I love seeing her smile, so I smile too.
