In Love With The Enemy

Hermione's POV

I enter potions and it surprisingly smells good. I sit down and notice a love potion on Professor Snape's potion table. No wonder, a love potion smells like what you're attracted to. I smell books, magic, and parchment. Harry plops down next to me. "Love potion today, that's why it smells so good," I say. "Oh, okay," he replies. Everyone else enters the room, sniffing the air. Professor Snape walks in and stands behind his potions desk. "Today we will learn about love potions, a love potion smells like what you're attracted to, at least this one," he says, pointing to the one I already noticed earlier. "But this one, it smells like who you're attracted to, or who you will be attracted to," he says as he grabs another vile and opens it. I don't notice a change in the smell. "But you have to get close to this one to smell it," he mentions. He closes the other love potion. "Mr. Weasley, would you please," Snape announces. Ron walks up to the table. "Sniff the potion," Snape demands. Ron does as he was told. "Do you smell a person?" Snape asks. "Yes," Ron replies, glaring at me occasionally. "Who do you smell?" Snape asks. "None of your bloody business," Ron replies rudely. "I meant, is it someone you hate or like," Snape corrects himself. "Oh, it's someone I like," Ron answers, blushing. "Okay, you may sit down, Mr. Weasley," Snape says. Ron walks back to his seat and sits down. "So, if two people smell each other, whether or not they currently hate each other, it means that they're destined to fall in love. That's why some people smell someone they hate, because you never know what the future holds," Snape announces. I nod slowly, taking in all of what he said. So I could fall in love with my current enemy? Is that what he's saying? I shoot my hand straight up. "Yes, Miss Granger? Would you like to demonstrate? Please come down here," Snape says. Ugh, all I wanted to do was ask a question and now I have to find out who the love of my life will be. "I just wanted to ask a question," I say as I walk towards the potions table. "Oh yes, well, you can demonstrate too, I was going to choose you to demonstrate anyway," he replies. I nod. "So, what's your question?" He asks.  "So, what you were saying was that I could fall in love with my current enemy?" I ask. "Yes, yes, you very well could," he says. "Now smell the potion," he demands. I smell it, I try to interpret who it smells like. Then it suddenly hits me. It smells like Draco, Draco Mafloy, my enemy from day one. No, no, how can this be? Why on earth would I fall in love with him, after all he's done to me? This can't be right, can it? It must be, because love potions never lie. I don't like this at all. I come back to reality and notice that sweat is sliding down from my forehead. "So, who do you smell?" Snape asks. "Someone I hate," I say, glaring at Draco, who is smirking, like always. "Ah, so you're going to fall in love with your enemy," Snape says suspiciously. At those words I see Draco cracking a smile, a small smile, but a real one. He hardly ever smiles a real smile. Does he know that it's him I smelled? I hope not. I nod slowly, still watching Draco. His smile, real smile, is actually kind of cute. What?! Hermione, what are you thinking?! I don't know. Maybe because I know that I'll eventually fall in love with him, I'm starting to love him now. No Hermione, don't think that way. Sorry, but I just can't help it. "Hermione, you can go back to your seat," Snape interupts my thoughts. I make my way to my seat, watching Draco out of the corner of my eye. He's watching me, also. I sit down and stare directly at him. Since I sit in the back no one will notice me staring at him. He stares back, smiling his real smile. I try to keep a straight face but fail. I eventually let a smile slip. If I smelled him, does that mean he'll smell me? Who knows, I'll have to find out. "Draco, I would like you to demonstrate also," Snape announces. Draco breaks our stare, and walks to the front of the classroom. Draco doesn't need to be told what to do. He immediately smells the potion. "Well, who do you smell?" Snape asks curiously. "Someone I like," he replies. It's not me then, he doesn't like me, does he? Snape nods as Draco makes his way back to his seat. He looks back at me. He mouths something but I don't understand it. "What?" I mouth. He shakes his head, as if saying nevermind. I sigh, I really want to know what he said. I grab one of my books and start reading it. Class ends and Snape dismisses us. I stay in my seat, waiting for Draco to finish getting his things together. He walks out of the room and I follow after him. But as soon as I leave the classroom I can't spot him. So I continue walking, confused. Then suddenly someone puts their hand on the wall next to me. They do the same with their other hand, so techinally, I'm trapped. I look up to find a pair of gorgeous grey eyes and bleach blonde hair, it's Draco. "What I was trying to say was that it was you, the person I smelled was you," He says. "You like me?" I ask, a little surprised. "Yes, I have for a while," he replies. That explains why he stopped teasing me about a few months ago. "Oh, okay," I reply, speechless. "What about you, Granger. Do you like me?" He asks, raising an eyebrow. He starts rubbing my hair in between his fingers. I feel myself starting to blush. But no words come out of my mouth. "Huh, Granger?" He asks, losing his patience. "Um, what if I told you that I did?" I ask. "Then I would do this," he says as he presses his lips against mine. I surprisingly like it so I kiss back. I drop my books and remove my hands from behind my back and wrap them around his neck. His hands leave my hair and find their way around my waist. We remain like that for a few minutes until he pulls away. "So, Hermione Granger, would you like to be my girlfriend?" He asks enthusiastically. "Of course," I reply with just as much enthusiasm. I pick up my books as he runs to a bench to gather his things. We both smile and continue to our next class, as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Draco's POV

I enter Professor Snape's classroom. It smells good, that's a first. I look at his potions table, I notice one that is open, I recognize it as a love potion. Great, we're going to be dealing with that today. I hate romance. Unless, of course, it involves my crush and I. You're probably wondering, do I have a crush? Well, yes, yes I do. Her name is Hermione Granger. I don't really have to explain her to you, you should know her. But I will for those who don't know her. She's really intelligent and kind. She can be stubborn and sensitive sometimes too. And she's beautiful, in my opinion. Anyway, back to class. A love potion, by my understandings, smells like what you're attracted to. I smell ambition, evil that is fading, growing kindess and books. Books? Oh wait, right, I like books because Hermione does. I take my seat next to Crabbe, one of my friends. "That's a love potion, right?" He asks me as I set my stuff down. "Yeah," I reply. "Ooh, you gonna use it on Granger?" He asks, nudging me. "Uh, no," I say, feeling myself start to blush. "Sure," he replies sarcastically. Before I can reply Snape enters the room and stands behind his potions table. "Today we will learn about love potions, a love potion smells like what you're attracted to, at least this one," Snape says as he points to the love potion I know. "But this one, it smells like who you're attracted to, or who you will be attracted to," he continues, grabbing another potion and opening it. "But you have to get close to this one to smell it," he says, closing the other love potion. "Mr. Weasley, would you please," Snape announces. Ron walks up to the table. "Sniff the potion," Snape says demandingly. Ron sniffs the potion as he was told. "Do you smell a person?" Snape asks. "Yes," Ron replies. I notice him glance at Hermione. That's right, the weasel has a crush on Hermione. "Who do you smell?" Snape asks. Oh god, I hope he doesn't ask me that when I'm up there. "None of your bloody business," Ron says rudely. So, you can fall in love with your enemy, huh? Uh oh, looks like you might be in trouble, Hermione. I turn to look at her, her right arm is straight up. "Yes, Miss Granger? Would you like to demonstrate? Please come down here," Snape says. Geez Snape, she just wanted to ask a question, now she's going to have to get embarrassed in front of the whole class. "I just wanted to ask a question," she mentions as she heads towards the table. Snape nods, clearly not regretting making her come up to the table. "Oh yes, well, you can demonstrate too, I was going to choose you to demonstrate anyway," he replies. Hermione nods. "So, what's your question?" He asks. "So, what you were saying was that I could fall in love with my current enemy?" She asks. "Yes, yes, you very well could," Snape replies. "Now smell the potion," he demands. She takes a long sniff and then just stands still for a while, thinking, probably. I'm towards the side of the room so I can see the side of her face. She's sweating, why? "So, who do you smell?" Snape asks. "Someone I hate," she replies, glaring at me. I smirk. "Ah, so you're going to fall in love with your enemy," Snape says suspiciously. I notice him quickly glance at me. I smile, a real smile, which is rare for me. I notice Hermione still staring at me, she definitely notices my smile, I can tell by the look on her face. Hermione nods slowly, probably for Snape, even though she's still staring at me. I wonder what she's thinking. "Hermione, you can go back to your seat," Snape says, interrupting the little staring contest Hermione and I were having. She breaks her stare and heads back to her seat, I watch her the whole way. She sits down and stares directly at me. I stare back, still smiling my real smile. She keeps a straight face, for a while. She eventually ends up letting a smile cross her face. "Draco, I would like you to demonstrate also," Snape announces. Of course he'd choose me. I break my stare and walk up to the table. I immediately sniff the potion, too impatient to wait for Snape to tell me what to do. I smell Hermione, obviously. I get lost in the scent, her scent, until someone interupts my thoughts. "Well, who do you smell?" Snape asks curiously. Of course he's curious about who his favorite student likes. "Someone I like," I reply honestly, trying not to blush. Snape nods and I make my way back to my seat. I look back at Hermione, she's paying attention. "It was you," I mouth, hoping she'll understand. "What?" She mouths. Damn it, she didn't understand. I can't hide my disappointment so I shake my head, irritated. I hear her sigh as she grabs one of her books and starts reading. I can't be mad at her though, she's too adorable. Especially when she's reading a book. Class ends and Snape dismisses us. I gather up my stuff and notice Hermione staring at me, again. I rush out of the classroom and set my stuff down on a bench across from Snape's classroom. I see Hermione exit the room and I approach her. She's walking very close to the wall. I place both of my hands on the wall on either side of her, trapping her. She looks up at me, immediately recognizing me. "What I was trying to say was that it was you, the person I smelled was you," I say. "You like me?" She asks, sounding slightly surprised. "Yes, I have for a while," I reply. "Oh, okay," she says, clearly not knowing what to say. Wow, I left Granger speechless. That's an achievement for me. "What about you, Granger. Do you like me?" I ask, raising an eyebrow questionably. I start rubbing the stands of her hair in between my fingers. She starts blushing, remaining speechless. "Huh, Granger?" I ask, starting to lose my patience. "Um, what if I told you that I did?" She asks. Another real smile creeps onto my face. "Then I would do this," I say as I press my lips against hers. She kisses back, expected, since now I know that she likes me. She lets her books fall to the floor and she removes her hands from behind her. Then she wraps her arms around my neck. I let my hands leave her hair and wrap themselves around her waist. We remain like that for a while until I pull away, even though I didn't want to. "So, Hermione Granger, would you like to be my girlfriend?" I ask happily. "Of course," she replies, just as happily. I run to the bench where I left my stuff and gather them up. We both smile and walk to our next class, as a couple.
