Hermione's Rescue
Hermione's POV
I have free time right now, so I decide to go out to the courtyard. I spot a good tree to read by and start walking towards it, clutching my books, careful not to drop them. Then I hear a voice. "Get your hands off of me!" A familiar voice yells. I turn around to see Pansy Parkinson putting her hands all over Draco Malfoy. Pansy has a huge crush on Draco, but that still gives her no right to put her hands all over him. Her arm is intertwined with his and she's stroking his cheek. Draco looks very annoyed, but he's not doing anything about it. I wonder why. I think I should help him. I can't just let this happen. I carefully set my books down next to a nearby tree and pull out my wand. I approach the two. "Get away from him!" I yell angrily. Pansy turns her attention to me. "Who do you think you are? You're not his girlfriend, I am!" She yells back rudely. "You are not my girlfriend, Pansy!" Draco yells. Pansy pouts. "But you love me, don't you?" She whines. "No, and I never did," Draco replies harshly. I can see the heartbreak in Pansy's eyes, but she still clings on to him. "I'm not going to tell you again, get your hands off of him!" I yell. "Why, so you can put yours on him?" She asks, snickering. I don't know why but I blush. "No, because he clearly doesn't want you around," I say, irritated. "Sure he does," Pansy replies, kissing his cheek. "No, I don't," Draco mutters. "Ugh, I don't care, I won't leave him alone unless you make me," Pansy says. "I'll put a spell on you," I threaten, pointing my wand at her. She looks unimpressed. "Sure, what you gonna do? Turn me into a frog?" She asks tauntingly. "I know worse spells than that," I warn. "Sure you do," she replies sarcastically. "No really, she does," Draco interupts. "And how do you know?" Pansy asks him. "In class, I've seen her cast dangerous spells in class or during free time," he replies. "Oh okay, I still won't believe either one of you," she says rudely. "You'd believe me if you truly loved me," Draco says smartly. "I do love you but, since you don't love me back, I'm not going to believe you," she replies. "That's stupid," Draco mutters under his breath. Pansy ignores him. "Try me," she says to me. Harry once showed me a spell, one to use on enemies, I have no clue what it does, but I don't care. I wouldn't mind if Pansy died. I'm sure Draco wouldn't mind either. I say the spell in my head, trying to make sure I'll say it correctly when I cast it on Pansy. After a few times I believe I got it. "Sectumsempra!" I yell as I continue pointing my wand at Pansy. Pansy falls down, and Draco is free of her grip. I walk over to Pansy, who is bleeding badly from her chest. "Just leave her be, she deserved it," Draco says. I nod. "What's that spell you used? I've never heard of it before," he says. "Sectumsempra, Harry read about it in a book not too long ago. Supposedly you're supposed to use it on your enemies," I reply. Draco nods, showing he heard everything I said. "Then why haven't you used it on me, I'm your enemy, aren't I?" He asks, raising an eyebrow curiously. "Yes, you are, but I was hoping that maybe we could change that. Start new, become friends," I state. "I would like that," he replies. "So, Draco Malfoy, would you like to be my friend?" I ask, calling him by his first name, which I've never done. I put my hand out for him to shake. "Gladly," he says as he takes my hand. "And by the way, thank you for helping me," he says kindly. "You're welcome," I respond. We both take one last glance at Pansy, now surrounded by worried students. "Serves her right," we say at the same time. We both stare at each other, shocked. Then we burst out laughing. "Well, I'll see you later, Hermione," he says as he starts to leave the courtyard. "See you later, Draco," I reply, smiling to myself.
Draco's POV
I leave my previous class, Pansy following me. She has a huge crush on me and it's annoying the shit out of me. She even thinks I like her back, which I don't. I hate her so much, I wish she was dead. I enter the courtyard and find a tree to lean on. Pansy arrives next to me and immediately locks her arm through mine. I roll my eyes. Then she starts stroking my cheek with her free hand. "Get your hands off of me!" I yell, annoyed. I suddenly spot Hermione approaching us, has she came to help me? If so, good luck Hermione, you'll need it when it comes to Pansy. "Get away from him!" Hermione yells. Her wand is withdrawn. Pansy turns to look at Hermione. "Who do you think you are? You're not his girlfriend, I am!" Pansy yells rudely. I hate it when she calls herself my girlfriend. "You are not my girlfriend, Pansy!" I yell, fed up with her. Pansy frowns. "But you love me, don't you?" She whines. "No, and I never did," I reply harshly. This is like the billionth time I've told her. She never seems to get the fact that I really don't like her. She still doesn't let go of me. "I'm not going to tell you again, get your hands off of him!" Hermione interupts angrily. "Why, so you can put yours on him?" Pansy asks, snickering. I notice Hermione blush. Does she like me?! Who knows. "No, because he clearly doesn't want you around," she says, sounding irritated. "Sure he does," Pansy replies, kissing my cheek. Ew. "No, I don't," I mutter. "Ugh, I don't care, I won't leave him alone unless you make me," Pansy says. Sounds like she's trying to give Hermione a challenge. "I'll put a spell on you," Hermione threatens, pointing her wand at Pansy. Pansy looks unimpressed. "Sure, what you gonna do? Turn me into a frog?" Pansy taunts. "I know worse spells than that," Hermione warns. And I know that's true, I've seen her cast dangerous spells before. She's pretty intelligent when it comes to spells. "Sure you do," Pansy says sarcastically. "No really, she does," I interupt. "And how do you know?" Pansy asks me. "In class, I've seen her cast dangerous spells in class or during free time," I reply. "Oh okay, I still won't believe either one of you," Pansy says rudely. I come up with a brilliant response. "You'd believe me if you truly loved me," I say. "I do love you but, since you don't love me back, I'm not going to believe you," she replies. "That's stupid," I mutter under my breath. I know Pansy heard me but, she ignores me. "Try me," Pansy says to Hermione. Hermione remains silent for a moment, probably thinking about which spell to use."Sectumsempra!" Hermione yells, pointing her wand more directly at Pansy. Pansy's grip losens and she falls down. Hermione walks over to Pansy, inspecting her. "Just leave her be, she deserved it," I say. Hermione nods. "What's that spell you used? I've never heard of it before," I say. "Sectumsempra, Harry read about it in a book not too long ago. Supposedly you're supposed to use it on your enemies," she replies. I nod, to show her that I heard what she said. I'm her enemy, why hasn't she used it on me? I'll ask her. "Then why haven't you used it on me, I'm your enemy, aren't I?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. "Yes, you are, but I was hoping that maybe we could change that. Start new, become friends," she suggests. "I would like that," I reply. "So, Draco Malfoy, would you like to be my friend?" She asks, extending her arm out for me to shake her hand. She called me by my first name, she's never done that before. Wow. That must really mean that she wants to become friends because most people around here only call their friends by their first name. "Glady," I answer, taking her hand. "And by the way, thank you for helping me," I try to say politely. "You're welcome," she responds. We both take one more glance at Pansy, who is now surrounded by a bunch of worried looking students. "Serves her right," we say at the same exact time. We both stare at each other, surprised. Then we suddenly burst out laughing. "Well, I'll see you later, Hermione," I say as I start to leave the courtyard. "See you later, Draco," I hear her reply. I smile happily to myself, hoping that no one notices.
