Everyone is that each other's throats again

Stuck in the middle

Waiting for it to be over

But it being over could take hours days even weeks

But you sit through it

Because that's all you can do

And then

You were dragged into it

This war

Because once someone is mad

They take it out on everyone else

And that means you too

In this war zone

You don't know what is right and wrong anymore

Your heart doesn't know what side to pick

So You try to stay neutral

But You can't

So You have to pick between them

Between the sides

So you do what you always do

You stay silent

For it is better to hold your breath

Then drown trying to fight them

Because in the end

You have to stop holding your breath

And the urge to let the water in

Takes over your mind

And that's all You can think about

So at the end you drown

That means you let them win

Because being in between

Is always harder than being

On one side

And you know that

So you play pretend

And hide behind the I'm fine face

Giving empty thank yous

Heartless apologies

And it's not because you want to be disrespectful of any kind

You just don't have the heart to fight anymore

So you stay between the sides

Hoping it was the last time

But knowing it won't be
