~Aphmau~

My body seems to be slowly fading, hiding from my soul as my eyelids become heavier by the minute.

I feel like I'm dying as my body slowly reaches the ocean bed, my eyes close as I'm lost in the mist of my thoughts telling me to stay awake, hey are those stars! They're so pretty I just wanna tou-

My body vibrates as something in me activates making me open my eyes wide open, my legs start to hurt unbelievable I feel them moulding together becoming one with another, my hair slowly untied from my pony tale being let out to its full length, below my thighs, magically being braided into a French braid. I look at my legs seeing golden scales build up on each other creating a tail going up to just above my breast covering my private areas.

Reality smacks me in the face as I realise I have a flapping tail, oh mother of Nutella cupcakes I have a mermaid tail, I'm mermaid.

I'm what every child wants to be a mermaid.

I admire my beautiful tail taking it in full view, the gorgeous gold scales the shimmer in the depths of the light that reaches ocean, blue shiny roots that moulds in my skin in some sort of pattern which is really complicating but it's beautiful either way, from my shoulder to my arms, instead of my long black hair, my hair has streams of blue and gold running down it looking alive, swirls in the locks of a French braid goes along the waves of the water in a melody.

My lungs feeling like they're closing in as my throat is attached to a pair of gills, scared to speak a word I slowly reopen my eyes to see that burning sensation disappeared and replaced with a mist of pleasure which has been added my confidence booth, I take a breath of water as I see there's no harm done to me as I'm breathing in water.

"Can I talk?"

Oh My Irene, I can talk and breath and I have a tail which makes me a mermaid.

A mermaid!

If I'm a mermaid that means I have to live in the ocean, and that I can never feel the warm air of land ever again, and I was all that little devils fault.

"Stupid little Shadow!"

"Hey who are you calling a 'Stupid little Shadow' fishy."

My eyes widen as I immediately closed my eyes scared to see who spoke to me, I slowly turn around frightened what the fatal, mysterious creature is, I take a quick peek to see a beautiful pink and white Dolphin with a slight grin in its face or 'her' face.

I open my eyes to its full content, relief wash my face to only see a cute talking Dolphin, wait- A Talking Dolphin!?

"Did you just speak- with your mouth-what?"

I dolphin swims over to me gesturing me to hop on. I hold on to it's Dorsal fin.

"Yes! I can talk-with my mouth, I'm Layla, the butterfly who bite you- and before you kill me-" she panics.

"You the butterfly who bit me! You better have a good explanation to what you decided to bite me." I narrow my eyes at her raising a brow.

"Well let's start from the begging it shall we-

Hundreds of years ago, on the beautiful tropical island of Hawaii, near the volcano just besides ocean bloomed a a flower, a rare one to be specific, it was gorgeous that it could just take your breath away in one swipe, Irene was making her pilgrimage to an island just of the coast of Hawaii where she found the spectacular beauty, Irene has known about mermaids ever since she saved one from pirates many centuries ago, she decided the flower would be safe from predators if she kept it in Phoenix Drop the famous well known under water kingdom for mer- Folks, she kept it hidden in a cave known as the protected soul of the ocean, anyone who tries to take the flower has a Death Wish coming their way-"

"But why would anyone would want to take the flower?" I tuck a strand of hair behind my ears.

"Anyone who takes a hold on the flower would absorb great power, reason why is there was a war many years ago, Shadow Knights against Mermaids, Irene felt it was her fault that the war has started and many mermaids were getting injured because those stupid ShadowKnights wanted her power, so she decide to transfer her power to the flower, but back to the main subject, I was the protector of the beauty and Irene personally told me to take good care of the flower, she granted me internal life, but obviously everything comes with a price. Irene told me, and I still remember her words, 'Everything comes with a price Layla, but with all my power I uplift the actual reality of the curse that has been upon you and replaced it with a eternal blessing, the new life of a beautiful mermaid, but there's a catch-' that's all she told me before falling in to her peaceful slumber, no one was able to find her since, and like she said she's done her part of uplifting the curse so now it's my part, I'm a shapeshifter I can turn into any animal that either lives beyond land or under the sea, I shifted myself into a butterfly in hopes of finding a beautiful young girl, and I found you, I then decided to turn you into a mermaid and here you are, miraculously you look exactly like her it's unbelievable. Any questions?" She takes a deep breath before pulling to a stop.

"I'm speechless after what you've just told me I don't know what to say, all I could say is 'wow'"

She chuckles humour filling her lungs- er, gills.

"Anyway welcome to The City Of Irena."

I face the direction her eyes gaze upon. In front of me stood a large coral gate, fairy lights lighting the place up, on the other side, stood a very large city, with gigantic building filling up the empty areas light in avert nook of the city coral hanging from the ground and a huge castle in the background, it was magnificent.

"Amazing right now let's move on." Still holding on the Dolphin for moral support we swam through the gates and entering a huge underwater kingdom full of lots of mermaids, different varieties of colours, green, blue, purple, yellow, orange all sorts of colours, but honestly I kind of felt left out considering I'm the only one with a golden shimmery tail, catching many mer- folks attention of admiration making me feel a bit self-conscious.

"Don't worry! They're just admiring your beautiful body and tail, in fact you should feel more of a confident boost, but honestly I was quite shock when you shifted into a mermaid, I never seen a golden Tail before, silver yes! But only Riyals have a silver tail, not more to be a spectacular gold, the only person I saw who had a gold tail was Ire- actually never mind, but be sure if you need anything don't feel shy to ask anything, I will always take care of you so don't you worry!"

That speech sure gave me a huge confident boost, instead of having my head down I held my chin up practicing my swimming with my new tail.

"Ah here we are, wait- I'm so silly, I didn't even ask you what your name was!"

We so into our conversation that I forgot to introduce my self.

"Aphmau Loreen Pho- er never mind." I scratch the back or my neck awkwardly.

"Well Aphmau welcome to your new Humble home which you will be sharing with moi." She grins at her silliness.

I slowly swim pass the coral reefs entering the house carefully getting used to my tail, I could not believe my eyes, this house was a flipping mansion. And it was only one room.

"Layla this house is huge, are you sure I won't get lost in it, because I think I am, are all houses like this." I touch the vase admiring the nice flower pattern design of the beautiful flower I think Layla was talking about.

"Well let's fill you up with knowledge you need to know about mermaids but to answer you question the Royals are people who have more power and might than a normal mermaid, I guess you could say they're like a king and queen, or mo like the King is an Alpha and the queen is the Luna, and the whole of this city aI the pack, although the mating process is quite different, you get to chose who your mate is, it can either be first marriage or love, simple love. Back to your question Irene was the first queen of the ocean because she is unimpeachable meaning she was the most trusted and a reliable mermaid which earned her the title to the throne but she declined passing her status the our current ruler, Queen Hyria and her husband and mate, King Mathew. They both know about the job given to me by Irene before she 'passed' and both Hyria and Mathew are in great debt to her, so to repay her they had taken great hospitality of me, I am great friends with them and no one else know about it which leads us to be suspicious but brushed it of."

"No one else knows about our 'secret' besides the King and queen and obviously you, not even the prince knows about it, but that's another story. So that's all so have any questions so far?" She flaps her fins sending a wave of water over to me.

"Uh not really! But I do feel very tired, and lately I haven't been getting enough rest!" I rub my eyes from exhaustion.

"Oh yes that's right follow me!"

We swam passed the nicely decorated corridors and entered the most amazing piece of artwork of a bedroom.

"Damn! Did you do the interior decorating, because this-" I gesture to the whole room.

"-is amazeballs." I squeal like a child who got the best present from Santa.

She chuckles which bring a huge smile to my face, I love seeing other people happy.

"Thanks for the complement and finally someone has acknowledged  my beauty!" She bows slightly.

I laugh lightly. " Goodnight Lu Lu." She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion before saying.

"Night Moo Moo!"

I tug a smile before entering a world full of slumber.
