I leave the coffee shop and walk to the local bookstore on my way home. I go inside and head straight to the young adult section.

    "Hi Rachel. What are you looking for today?"

I look over to the small desk and walk towards it.

    "Hello Ms. Carissa, I'm looking for a book that you might read in school. For example my friend Emily read different books in middle school than I did."

    "Ok, so, there are many books that meet that description," she laughs and walks around the desk to face me.

Ms. Carissa is a very kind woman who works at the bookstore close to Topanga's. She has mid-length brunette hair and brown eyes. She's in her early 20's and always takes pride in being single.

"What genre?" Ms. Carissa asks as she leads me over to the couch area.

"I'm looking for realistic young adult books."

"Do you care if a movie was made about it or no?"

"It doesn't matter."

"Got it, I have just the book for you."

She stands up and beckons me to follow her. We zig-zag our way through shelves until Ms. Carissa stops abruptly. She bends down a bit and scans the spines of the books with her finger. She picks a book and holds it in front of her.

"This is one of my favorite books, 'The Outsiders.' I read it in eight grade and have been recommending it to people since. There is a movie based on it that you can watch afterwards."

"Thank you Ms. Carissa."

She gives the book to me.

"I want you to read this book like you would in school. That means one chapter a day. It makes the book manageable to read when you have other activities going on." Ms Carissa says.

"Ok, I will." I say goodbye and pay for the book at the front and leave the store.

    I get home and start the book as soon as I get to my room. The chapters are pretty short so I think this will be really easy to read.

It's the end of summer and I've finally started talking to my friends again. We hang out everywhere. It's nice having the gang back together again. It's like being a part of something special.

I'm in the kitchen eating lunch with the Ross kids when I get a text.

Are you ready for the first day of school? - riley

Yeah, Emma took me on a shopping spree and I got to buy some new clothes! -me

Cool! Well i gtg now, I'm packing my backpack. -riley
