No Secrets [48]
A video, and many dirty jokes that followed, the challenge was eventually over. Just as expected, Mark was usually the one who made the sentences sound extremely inuendous, while Matthias was probably the most innocent out of the three. (No matter how edgy he may want to be).
After that, they decided they were all going to get something to eat, including Bryan, Joey (J-Fred) and Mike who were also there. They all ate together at a table, just casually conversing about different things. It was weird to think that at least a year ago, they wouldn't be talking about things like Luna, or how Jack and Mark were doing together. They were all just living their lives, which made it crazy to think about how much had changed over the span of almost a year.
"Did you know though..." Mark started, half way through chewing his food before swallowing it. "Jack told me we had fans knock on our door..."
Jack frowned, as he felt Mark's chocolate brown eyes slide to him, before trailing back to the others. He was still thinking about that, which he couldn't really blame him for. After all, having fans knock on your door was probably one of the scariest things about being a YouTuber. Because you really don't know what that person could be like and how they'd react if you pushed them away.
"No... Really?" Bryan questioned with a frown. Mark nodded, exhaling.
"They're lucky Jack was the one to answer the door because I would have not been happy. It's bad enough that I thought it could have been Wade." Mark chuckled. Jack rolled his eyes, exhaling.
"Sure, Mark. Would you really have took it upon yourself to be a dick?"
"Not necessarily. But do you think they're gonna get the message with you accepting their gift and being super nice about it? I mean, would you guys like it if someone did that?" He asked, looking at the others.
"Well..." Matt pouted. "YouTube is YouTube and home life is home life. And personally I like to keep those two things separated."
"Exactly."
"For fuck sake, Mark." Jack spat. "I never said I was okay with people knocking at the door whenever they feel like it."
"I'm not saying you do."
"Then why does it sound like you are?" Jack snapped. "Excuse me for bein' too fucking nice to people." He growled, getting out of his seat.
"Wai-- Jack?" Mark called after him, as he went to leave the room. Mark sighed, shaking his head and getting out of his seat. "Excuse me a sec guys."
"Yeah, no problem."
Leaving the room, Mark went to go hunt down Jack, only to find him standing outside by the front entrance, his arms crossed and his brows furrowed.
"You didn't have to leave." Mark pouted.
Jack turned to face him.
"Yeah well, you didn't need to bring that thing up and make me look bad. Where the fuck did that come from?"
"Wha-- Jack, that wasn't my intention. I was literally trying to start conversation. You don't need to get so salty." Mark chuckled.
"You call this salty? I'm not bein' salty, Mark. I'm just frustrated. What happened, it's not a big fuckin' deal. Sure, it's my fault that someone found out the address and told people. But being a dick about it doesn't make the problem go away."
"Alright, I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry if I seemed like I was being harsh but... It's just annoying. I don't want to have to deal with people knocking on the door at like 8 at night again. I'd have to move again." Mark complained, stepping forward and giving Jack and apologetic hug who then rested his head on his shoulder.
"Not only that but... It just stresses me out. I don't want people finding out the truth, Jack. Not yet."
"I know... I'm sorry I fucked up by forgetting my key..." Jack murmured.
Silence. The two went quiet for a moment, standing in each other's embrace, as both of them were deep in thought, probably thinking about the same thing. Mark opened his mouth to speak.
"Jack...?"
"Yeah?"
"Isn't there going to be another YouTube event in September?"
"Yeah, I think so... Why?"
"Well... I'm not ready to say anything yet... But maybe by the time the event comes around, I will be. So, maybe we could do a panel with Bob and Wade and... Tell everyone the truth."
"...Are you sure?"
"Well, it's not like we have much of a choice. Like you said, people aren't stupid and they'll realize the truth eventually. But I'd rather have it come from our mouths over having it spread all over the internet somehow." Mark said.
"I guess so..." Jack agreed, pulling away. "But this isn't going to be like when we told my parents, Mark. After all, some people just might not take it well."
"I know. But I don't care... If people can't accept us for who we are, then... Well, that's their problem. Because I'm not going to change for them, and I won't give you up for anyone. I can't express that enough."
"I know, Mark..." Jack nodded, looking down at their feet for a moment before his eyes went back up to Mark's face. He slowly bobbed his head in thought. "So... We're really going to do this? We're going to tell everyone?"
"Right..." Mark responded, pulling him in for another hug. Jack put his arms under through Mark's, placing his hands on his back as he hugged him close, replying in a whisper.
"Okay..."
He had no idea how people were going to take it when the time came, but they could really only hope for the best. That just maybe the people who truly cared about them, would respect them for who they were. But even if there were going to be people who were going to try and get in their way, they weren't going to allow that. Jack wasn't losing Mark to anybody and he'd never want to break up with him because of other people's problems. It was their relationship and there's alone.
And when the time came, they were going to come clean. No more secrets.
