I love you [26]
It's god damn frustrating when people change plans at the very last minute. It's like, no. If it's the day you've made plans for, there should be no reason for you to change it at the last and worst possible time.
As expected, three months had flown by ever so fast. It was now June the 28th, Mark's birthday. Jack had flown over from Ireland the day before, arriving before everyone else. He and Mark had just played some video games that evening, before going to sleep as Jack was exhausted from jetlag and Mark didn't really feel like staying up alone.
It was now the next day and Jack was standing outside Mark's house, waiting for him to be ready for their date. However, Jack was currently on the phone to Felix, who had told him things had been changed.
"What the fuck do you mean we're not meeting at Mark's house anymore...? ...Yeah, Felix, I don't know where that is!"
"I'm sorry, Jack! It was Arin's idea when we told him the plan. He was all 'how would we have a party in Mark's house? It's too small! Fuck that shit, I know where we can go.'"
"God dammit..." Jack sighed, taking the bridge of his nose between his thumb, his middle finger and his index finger in annoyance.
"Look, I'll see if I can send you the directions or whatever. We'll see you later, alright?"
"Wait, what?! Felix!" Jack cried, right before the phone went silent. He furrowed his brows, staring at his phone as he realized Felix had hung up on him.
If things were going to go to shit and get terribly ruined, Arin was so going to get an earful. He already expressed he wanted Mark's birthday to be special.
Just as he was shoving his phone into the pocket of his blue hoodie and then repositioning the beanie on his head, he felt two strong arms snake around his waist. He flinched in surprised, just before realizing it was Mark who smiled, happily nuzzling his cheek into the side of Jack's neck.
"Hey." Mark said. "Thanks so much for turning up for my birthday."
"No problem." Jack grinned, turning to face him, hanging his arms over his shoulders. "May I have the keys for the car? So I can drive us to where we're having our date."
Mark nodded, fishing his keys out of his jeans and happily handing them to Jack. Jack beamed, giving him a quick peck on the lips before heading to the car with Mark following behind.
"So, where are we going?"
"That's a surprise. You'll see when we get there." Jack winked, starting up the engine, backing out of the driveway and pulling away from the curb.

Covering his eyes, Jack led Mark along after they had gotten out the car. They were just outside the building and went inside, Mark still being completely blind as to where they were.
"Am I allowed to look yet?"
"Mhm!" Jack said, removing his hands away from Mark's face. Mark gasped, seeing a huge ice rink with a few other people skating on it. It was pretty deserted, considering June was a pretty awkward time of the year to go and ice skate. But it did mean they almost had the whole place to themselves.
"No way..." Mark murmured. He turned to face Jack, a look of realization on his face. "Is that why you asked me about ice skating?!"
"Yeah." Jack sheepishly admitted with a smile.
"But... I don't know how to skate..."
"I know. But I could teach you!"
Mark's face broke into a loving expression, as he stepped towards Jack, giving his boyfriend a hug. Jack beamed, hugging him back.
"Thanks for this, Jack. I love it." Mark whispered.
"No problem, Mark..." Jack quietly replied. The two pulled away from each other for a moment, both closing their eyes as they leaned in for a kiss. Again, Jack hung his arms over Mark's shoulders, his hand locked onto his wrist while Mark held onto Jack's waist, holding him close.
Pulling away, Jack smiled, staring longingly into the American's eyes. He said nothing, only staring back. It was a short moment before either of them finally broke the silence.
"Anyway... Let's go get our skates!" Jack exclaimed, excited.
Mark laughed, happily being dragged along by his green haired boyfriend as they went to do as he said. He loved how adorable, Jack - Sean, could be. One moment he was quiet, cute. The next he was excitable, energetic and still all the more adorable. He was so happy that he was the one he got to spend the first part of his birthday with, just the two of them.

"Fucking... I'm shitting myself right now." Mark admitted, nervously laughing as he held onto the edge. Jack giggled, as he skated back over, slightly showing off as he did.
"Show off!" Mark spat.
"Hey, it's not my fault I learnt to skate." Jack jokingly teased with a wink. "But like I said, I'll teach you. Just let go of the edge."
"Are you fucking crazy!?"
"C'mon, just gimme your hand."
Mark paused, an obvious smirk spreading across his face as his shaking hands still held into the edge.
"Why am I getting Titantic vibes? Is this the scene where you try to stop me from jumping off the ship?" Mark joked. Jack giggled, rolling his eyes.
"So, does that make me Leonardo DiCaprio and you're Kate winslet?"
"Oh, very funny!"
Jack laughed.
"Just let go of the edge! Stop stallin'!"
Hesitating, Mark sighed and reached for Jack's hand, taking a grasp of it and slightly moving forward, away from the edge on jello legs. Jack smiled, impressed.
"Alright, there you go. Now just move your feet. Like this. You can do it."
"Alright, alright." Mark nodded, listening to Jack and trying to do exactly as he was told.
"That's it! You're doing it!" Jack cheered.
"Hey, I am! Holy crap, this is cool!"
"See, what did I tell ya?"
Mark and Jack continued to happily skate with each other, making sure not to bump into anyone else on the ice. And the one thing he made sure to do was not let go of Jack's hand, because fuck that.
Just as he was doing so well, one of Mark's skates tripped him up, causing him to fall forward into Jack and making him tumble too. They both squeaked in surprise, Jack hitting the ice-y floor first, with Mark landing on top.
"Owwie..." Jack murmured.
"Sorry..."
Jack shook his head, laughter escaping his mouth, before Mark had been set off too. They both lay there on the floor, laughing together. Some gave them weird looks, but they didn't really care.
"Hey, Jack."
"Yeah?"
"I guess we know what they say. You're always the bottom." Mark smirked, poking fun at the position they had gotten themselves into. Jack chuckled, a small blush forming on his face.
"Fuck you, man." Jack giggled. "Get off me ya doof!"
"I will, but seriously Jack. One more thing." Mark muttered, as he stared into Jack's bright blue orbs once more. Jack went quiet, as he stared back.
"Yeah...?"
"Just... Thank you so much for this... For planning such a thing for me... It's so sweet of you to do and... I..." Mark paused. "Jack, I love you..."
Jack's eyes widened. Did he just say...? Did he just...?
"What...?"
"I love you..."
Jack felt his eyes begin to water and it wasn't long before tears started to escape from his tear ducts and down his cheeks. Mark rose his eyebrows, looking a little startled, like he thought he had done something wrong.
"Oh, Jack, please don't cry! I'm sorry! I-- I didn't mean to scare--"
Before Mark finished, Jack leaned his head up towards Mark's face, brushing his lips against his. Once again, the couple were lost in another kiss, their mouths moving in unison with one another.
Jack finally pulled away, a teary smile on his face.
"I love ya too, ya doof." He said, before blushing a little. "Though, can we get up? I'd prefer for people not to think we were doin' dirty shit in public."
Mark laughed, nodding and getting up, helping Jack up too. Jack glanced at his watch with a frown. It wasn't long before they had to go and meet with the others, where ever that was.
"We better go to meet up with Felix and everyone else." Jack spoke. Mark nodded, agreeing.
The American and the Irishman both skated together, heading towards the area to get off the ice and give their skates back in. Just as they got to the counter to give their skates back in... You'd never believe who they'd bump into...
Mark and Jack's eyes widened a little, as they saw a face they recognized, with long blonde hair and glasses.
"Holy shit..." Mark whispered.
It was Amy.
