"He was never bad, Jungkook. He just didn't want people to make fun of his critical past."
***
Hoseok's eyes stayed wide and he stared at nothingness, even after the screen was gone. He was utterly shocked to say the least. That was too much to comprehend at once.
"Hyung.."
Hoseok snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the direction of the voice. It's then that he realized Jimin softly clutching his arm. The boy's eyes full teary and full of worry. He flash him a small reassuring smile.
Taehyung followed another shorter male who was slowly leaving the room without a word. Yoongi was too way too shocked to comprehend the flashback. All the memories flooding back in his brain wasn't helping either. What he already knew was messed up, he didn't need anything else to trigger that more. He had enough of the stupid memories. He was completely okay with not knowing anymore.
"Hyung wait-"
Taehyung walked behind, unconscious of the word 'hyung' that he was using to call him for the first time.
"YOONGI STOP!!!"
Seokjin said out loud. Yoongi stop in his track, but didn't turn around to face the six other boys behind him. Namjoon came a bit closer to him, giving him a stern look though he knew the boy couldn't see him.
"Where are you going?"
Namjoon asked in his strict tone. He expected Yoongi to snap back with harsh words. But that wasn't exactly the case.
"Why do you care...?"
He whispered, his voice trailing off at the end as it overflowed with emotion. He neither wanted anyone to be a part of his horrible life nor anyone to stop him escaping it. But seems like he was never the heaven's favorite.
"I didn't want to be saved..."
He said, a little louder this time. He meant it. He was just done with life. He had no money, no food to eat, just a small shelter which he couldn't take care off. And absolutely no one to rely on.
Hoseok's little bubble of patience in the head bursted. He just couldn't understand anything Yoongi was saying. It didn't make sense to him. How could he not understand that he could've died if he stayed inside?
"What do you even mean?!! You could've died!!!"
"AND THAT'S WHAT I WANTED!!!"
Hoseok was about to say something, but Seokjin shushed him and quietly went towards Yoongi, who still had his head hung low and back facing them.
"Yoongi, it's already done. You've been given three chances to gather yourself. One, when you got saved even after the bad car accident. Second, when Hoseok saved you by taking you out of the burning building. Third, when we helped you fight off the smoke here."
He said in the a soft tone. The same comforting tone he used with Jungkook earlier that day. It sounds very gentle, sweet...safe...
"It's not your time yet, Yoongi-ah. Life is just testing you. Didn't you promise you'll find your Mom?"
Seokjin smiled lightly, taking the younger's hands in his and rubbed them softly, but yet the younger didn't look at him. He frowned, when small drops slowly plopped on his hands.
"But I don't even remember her..."
He spoke in a very low tone, his voice cracked all the way within saying that small sentence.
More tear drops plopped on Seokjin's hands. The oldest, at once, pulled the shorter male into a hug. He expected Yoongi to push him away, but he stayed still, but didn't hug the older back.
"Shh, Yoongi, it's okay. You'll get there soon. Life is just testing you. That's why, it gave you several chances everytime you wanted to give up. Because it wants you to fight for what you want."
He patted the younger's back. He didn't make any noise and just stayed with his head shoved in Seokjin's chest. But Seokjin knew he was crying hard as he felt his body shaking in his arms.
"Empty your feelings out Yoongi."
The others boys gathered around too, but didn't make a move to comfort him. It hurt, not gonna lie, to see the so-strong man being so broken from inside that he is sobbing to a stranger.
It's very understandable why he had build up this huge shield to cover himself up of his real emotions. He had just gone through so much. So much. He didn't want to rely on anyone anymore. But after all, he is a human. He someone to help him when he needs, take care of him when he's sick, give a warm shoulder to him when he's sad.
"We can go back to your old neighbourhood, where you used to live with your mom and ask the neighbours around. Won't that work?"
Hoseok offered the idea, as an effort to help the crying boy.
"Hey! That may work!"
Seokjin cheered, though he was uncertain about the idea, they still had a chance. Moreover, they needed to get Yoongi to stop crying and speak to them.
"Yoongs-"
"Don't you DARE call me that!!"
Yoongi sneered, pulling himself out of the hug. He sniffle a little, rubbing his eyes in order to get rid of the tears. All of a sudden, he realized. He had just cried in front of them!
Now they'll make fun of me!
"Gosh, why did I even-"
The boys started laughing as Yoongi's face turned as red as a beetroot. He was so embarrassed to cry in front of them. Even Hoseok wad stronger than him throughout the process of getting his memories back. Why did he have to exaggerate things!
"Stop laughing at me!"
He said in an almost yelling voice, but it just made the others laugh more.
"Why are you so embarrassed to cry anyways?"
Jimin asked, holding his stomach that was hurting from how hard he was laughing. He found it funny how Yoongi looked when he was embarrassed and tried hard to keep up his tough attitude.
"You don't need to be all tough and try to act cold all the time."
Hoseok passed another comment. Yoongi passed him a glare, to which, Hoseok just laughed more. He wanted to be evil. He teased the latter a bit more.
"You look like a kitten."
"FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME, I. AM. NOT. A. KITTEN!!!"
The laughter got louder. Jungkook kept giggling as quietly as possible. Hoseok came to him and slung an arm around his shoulder.
"Just look at his face Jungkook!"
He laughed more, his voice barely understandable due to his laugh.
"He looks so happy..."
Jungkook replied in his tiny, shy tone of voice. He eyed the person a bit more and remembered himself shivering everytime he glared at someone, shouted and fought with someone.
"He's always so cold and harsh, but maybe he's not that bad, right?"
Hoseok stopped laughing and smiled brightly at the shorter boy. (Let's just pretend that Jungkook is the shortest one out of the 7, even shorter than Jimin-)
"He was never bad, Jungkook. He just didn't want people to make fun of his critical past. So, he put up this fake attitude. He-You know, as you grow up, you get more insecure about how you look, how you weigh etc. And at that time, people seem to nag you about those insecurity more. So, some people make up fake personalities, in a way that people would either find nothing to nag about, or just stop bothering you for good. Like in Yoongi's case-"
He looked at Yoongi, who was chatting with the other boys. He had a constant smile on his face. Hoseok wondered if Yoongi even realized that he was smiling.
"-he had distanced himself from people. He made up this attitude that made people hate him, so they stopped bothering about him as well."
"How do you know about this?"
Jungkook asked out of the blue. Hoseok paused for a bit, confused at his own speech.
Really, how did he know so much? He had kept himself isolated in the corner of his own small room as well. He just said it based out of his own thoughts. He just laughed it off and answered the younger male.
"You'll understand when you grow up."
He jokingly patted his head and went to the group of boys sitting on the corridor. The boys were in the middle of a conversation about how they would like their pasts to be. Hoseok joined.
"I hope my past will be lik-"
"Hey, Yoongi hyung.."
"Yes?"
Hoseok settled himself down on the floor, in between Yoongi and Namjoon. It felt so nice to hear the soft tone of Yoongi's voice for the first time.
"Are you feeling better?"
The latter hummed lightly.
A moment of silence before he spoke.
"Thank you for saving me."
Hoseok hummed back as a response. His eyes suddenly fell on the boy who was staring quietly at them with big eyes.
"Jungkook come here. What are you doing there all alone?"
The boy shyly walked forward the group. Yoongi passed him a smile, making him feel a bit more confident.
He patted the empty space beside him, gesturing the youngest on sit, which he quietly followed.
"Why so quiet, Jungkook?"
"I just don't have anything to say.."
(Introvert me when talking to my relatives-)
He commented back shyly, fidgeting his fingers. Making an eye contact with the others felt like the hardest thing to do.
"Yeah I can understand. It's because you haven't gotten your memories back. Uh-by the way, do you know how did you get those cuts?"
Namjoon asked all of a sudden.
"Something feels strange about it to me."
Seokjin added. The others shook their head in agreement and looked at the boy. His ears turned red from shyness. The thought of all the eyes being on him makes him wanna dig out a hole in the ground and disappear into it. He doesn't like attention.
"I-I really don't k-know."
He said in almost a whisper. The boys' eyes on him felt like spears piercing throw his soul.
"Hey.."
Yoongi called in an awkward tone of voice. Hoseok raised a brow and looked at him.
"Whom did you call?"
Yoongi shook his head with a sigh.
"All of you. I just wanted to say, I'm sorry for being so rude to you. I didn't intend to be like that."
"Nah.. It fine. I understand."
"No.. Really.. I'm sorry.."
They all hummed, almost in a chorus. They sat like that for a while. Just thier soft breaths being heard.
Suddenly, a loud sound of something falling echoed through the corridor, making a few of them flinch.
Namjoon and Seokjin were the first one to get up and follow the noise. Yoongi rolled his eyes and groaned, lazily getting up and dragged his feet behind the two. The others followed too.
The tension between the boys was way too creepy for Hoseok and Taehyung but they were too scared to say anything.
"This one. The sound came from here."
Seokjin said, jerking the handel of the door as an attempt to open it. It looked very old, unlike the other doors they have seen in the hospital and was full of dust. Splinters of wood can be seen spiking up everywhere.
"We should find the ke-"
"I don't think we should."
Seokjin said as he banged the door and jerked the handel harder.
"We shouldn't wait. Namjoon?"
"Yes?"
"Help me break the door."
Namjoon went forward without hesitation. The two banged the door hard with their sides. The others watched, hesitating about their decisions.
It took a good 10 attempt before the door broke. The two stumbled forward, a gust of smoke covering their view. The others went forward instantly. They coughed a few times as the dust entered their nose, but managed to see the room by fanning their hands in front of them, to get rid of the dust.
Once the smoke was gone, they blinked their eyes to get a clearer view. Taehyung raised an eyebrow, confused when he saw nothing.
"There is noth-"
Taehyung started, but was cut off by another loud screech. They turned their head to the direction of the sound.
Their eyes widen. Hoseok let out a horrified scream.
"W-What the hell?!!"
