Fifteen

Jo got off of the phone with Ash, turning back to Sam, Dean and Jenny. "Okay. Moyamensing prison. Built in 1835, torn down in 1963. And get this. They used to execute people by hanging them in the empty field next door."

"Well, then, we need a list. All the people executed there." Sam suggested and Jo nodded, waving her phone.

"Ash is already on it."

...

Jenny's eyes were wide with shock as she scrolled through her laptop. Sam leaned over to look, as shocked as she was. "A hundred fifty seven names?" He asked quietly, Jenny nodded.

"We've gotta narrow that down." Dean stated the obvious as Jenny hummed quietly, still scrolling.

"Yeah, but how the hell are we supposed to do that when 85% of that prison had murderers?" Jenny paused to look back at Dean, who had a frown of thought on his face.

"I don't know. But keep looking. Maybe you or Sam will recognize a name."  Jenny nodded, turning back to the computer.

After a few moments, Sam nudged Jenny's arm before pointing to a name. "Herman Webster Mudgett?"

"Holy shit." Jenny mumbled, raising her brows

"What?" Jo spoke up, walking over.

"H. H. Holmes. He's America's first serial killer." Jenny googled the man, an excited look on her face. "He was executed where this complex is standing. May 6th, 1896."

"H. H. Holmes himself. Come on, I mean, what are the odds?" Sam asked as Ho still looked confused.

"Who is this guy?"

The term "multi-murderer." They coined it to describe Holmes." Dean explained while Jenny nodded, turning to Jo.

"He's been accused of over 100 murders. But he only confessed to twenty seven."

"And his victim flavor of choice? Pretty petite blondes. He, uh, he used chloroform to kill 'em." Dean continued. There was a short silence before a realization struck Dean. "Which is what Jen and I smelled in the hallway last night. At his place, cops found human remains, bone fragments, and long locks of bloody blonde hair." He turned to Jo. "Boy, you sure know how to pick 'em."

"Well, we just find the bones, salt 'em and burn 'em, right?" Jo asked and Jenny shook her head.

"It's not that easy. His body is encased in a couple tons of concrete. And from what remember, we don't have a Jackhammer in the trunk."

"What? Why?" Jo frowned, which caused Jenny to take a moment n if she asked about Holmes being buried or why they didn't have a Jackhammer.

"The story goes that he didn't want anybody mutilating his corpse. 'Cause, you know, that's what he used to do." Dean joked. Sam thought for a moment? turning to everyone.

"You know somethin'. We might have an even bigger problem than that."

"It's because we don't have a jackhammer, isn't it?" Jenny asked and Sam shook his head.

"No. Holmes built an apartment building in Chicago. He called it the Murder Castle. The whole place was a death factory, they had, uh, trap doors, acid vats, quick line pits... he built these secret chambers inside the walls. He'd lock his victims in, keep them alive for days. Some he'd suffocate, others he'd let starve to death."

"Oh boy." Jenny muttered as she came to the realization.

"So Teresa could still be alive. She could be inside these walls." Jo stated the obvious, looking around in a panic.

"We need sledgehammers, crowbars. We've got to smash these walls, anywhere thick enough to hide a girl." Dean gestured got Jenny to follow him, the two rushing out of the apartment to get back to the car.

...

Jenny and Dean squeezed in between the walls of the apartment, Jenny struggling to hold onto her phone as she pushed herself deeper into the walls.

"Alright. Just call us back if you find anything." Jenny hung up the phone? quickly shoving it into her pocket. "Jo and Sam are almost done with the first floor. They haven't found anything, either."

Dean stopped, causing Jenny to bump into him. "Dude. Why'd you stop?" Dean shook his head.

"It's too narrow. I can't get any further." Jenny peeked over his shoulder, moving past him. "What are you— Jen—"

"I'm going to look." Dean groaned quietly, shaking his head.

"You're not going down there alone."

"Are you small enough to stop me?" Jenny asked as she continued to squeeze through the walls. "Wow, this is really uncomfortable."

Dean watched as she crept out of sight, her phone ringing as he called her directly after. "where are you?"

"The north wall, dumb ads. You just saw me turn."

"Well how am I supposed to know you didn't fall through the floorboards? Hold on Sam is calling," Dean put Jenny on hold as she found an air duct, climbing up it.

"Jen, he got Jo." Jenny groaned as she squeezed through the air duct, pausing with wide eyes as ectoplasm started oozing out of the cracks.

"Dean?" She said quietly, a bit nervously. "Blinded were like.. His go to, right?" Jenny asked, her voice trembling a little bit.

"Jen, what's going on?"

"How did H. H. Holmes feel about brunettes?" Jenny's breath hitched as she started quickly backing out of the air ducts, watching as a hand started to reach out to her. "Dean!"

"Jennifer?!" He yelled back, seeming to be out of the walls. A loud crash boomed through her ears as Jenny saw a small hole of light, sliding to it.

"Dean! Get me the hell out of here!" Jenny yelled? slamming her fist into the wood. Dean kept slamming the sledgehammer into the wall, jenny pushing herself through it and falling into his arms.

Dean gripped her tightly, staring at the wall she had busted through. "Are you okay?" He asked, breathing heavily. She nodded slowly.

...

"He got Jo." Sam said as he rushed into the apartment, where Dean was still comforting Jenny. "What happened?"

"He almost got Jenny, too." Dean explained as the two stood up, facing Sam.

"We need to find her." Jenny said, now ignoring her shaking hands as Sam nodded.

"How? She's not in the walls, and neither were the other girls." Dean reminded and Jenny shrugged.

"She could be anywhere, Dean."

"Look. We've just gotta take a beat and think about this. Maybe we got Holmes' M.O. wrong." Sam suggested, gesturing to Jenny. "He just tried taking Jenny, too. And from what I remember, she's not a blonde."

"It doesn't matter, alright? Now we know that this ghost goes after any and all girls. So we need to start thinking fast." Jenny said as Dean's phone rang, a fearful look crossing his face as he answered it.

"Ellen... hey— She's gonna have to call you back, she's taking care of, uh, feminine business." Dean looked between Sam and Jenny, who quickly stepped away. "Look, we'll get her back.... The spirit we're hunting, it took her. She'll be okay, I promise. What? It won't! I won't let it. Ellen, I'm sorry, I really am." Dean looked at his phone as Ellen hung up, shoving it in his pocket angrily. "Damnit!"

"Don't beat yourself up, Dean. There's nothing you could have done. Nothing I could have done." Sam spoke apologetically, looking at Jenny, who is asked to her computer.

"Tell me you've got something, Jen."

"Uhm... maybe. Look. Holmes murder castle had torture chambers inside the walls, right?" She asked, looking at Sam and Dean, who nodded. "What about this one. In the basement." Jenny pointed to a layout of the murder castle, to the basement.

"This building doesn't have a basement." Dean frowned, looking at the layout.

"Maybe not... But underneath the foundation there's an old sewage system that probably hasn't been used in—"

"Let's go." Dean interrupted, booking it out of the apartment. Sam and Jenny looked at one another for a moment before following after him.

...

Jenny waved a metal detector back and forth in front of her, Sam and Dean carrying shovels as they followed behind. The three made their way into a field, where the detector slowly started to whine before getting louder.

"Guys, right here." Jenny shut off and tossed the metal sector to the side, Dean handing her the third shovel as they all started digging. After a short while, the three had started digging with their hands to exhume a metal trap door.

Sam struggled to open the door, backing away as Jenny latched onto the handle, pulling up and opening the door. Dean handed Sam a shotgun from the bag he had been carrying, tossing another to Jenny.

"Alright. Ladies first, I guess." Jenny mumbled, climbing down the ladder. She covered her mouth as she started crawling her way through the tunnel, looking back to see Dean's face directly in front of her ass.

"Personal space, Dean." She joked and he frowned at her, crawling ahead. "I should of worn my bloody clothes."

"You should clean your bloody clothes." Dean commented, and Jenny rolled her eyes.

"I don't clean them for these reasons. If I knew how small this thing was gonna be..." She trailed off, looking directly ahead to see the spirit. "Oh shit. Cover your ears!"

Sam and Dean attempted to look ahead of Jenny as she unclipped the safety on her shotgun, eyes wide as the spirit crawled quickly towards her. She pulled the trigger of her shotgun, watching the spirit disappear into nothing. Jenny groaned in pain, widening her mouth as her ears rang loudly. "That's an echo!" She yelled, continuing on.

"What?!" Sam yelled back, showing he clearly hadn't listened to Jenny, or covering his ears didn't work.

...

Jenny, Sam and Dean were now walking slowly towards the open area where they assumed Holmes was keeping Jo and Teresa, guns cocked and ready to blast him away.

There was a cut off scream, which made Jenny bolt towards the noise to see Holmes had his hands through a blocked off cell.

"Hey, dick bag!"Jenny yelled, alerting the spirit. She raised her shotgun at him as Sam and Dean appeared, the three shooting at Holmes. The spirit was blasted a few feet back before disappearing through the wall.

"Get me out of here!" Jo yelled, flailing her fingers through the wood. Jenny dropped her gun, grabbing a nearby iron bar and sticking it through the gap, yanking the wood off. She did it for the rest of the wood, tossing the bar to Sam before helping Jo out, bringing her into a safe hug.

"Are you okay?" Jenny asked, looking down at Jo. The blonde nodded, stepping back from Jenny. The older Hunter looked over the girls head, grimacing slightly. "Looks like he's a yanker."

Jo raised her hand to her head, hissing in pain. There was a small spot on her head missing hair. "It'll grow back. I'm okay. Let's get the hell out of here before he comes back."

"Actually, I don't think you're leaving here just yet." Dean spoke up. Jenny and Jo turned to him, seeing Sam holding Teresa tightly.

"What?" The two girls asked in confusion, and Dean sighed quietly.

"Remember when I said Jo being bait was a bad plan? Now it's kind of the only one we got." Jenny's eyes widened along with Jo's and the two looked at one another.

...

Jenny backed up a cement truck towards the trap door as Sam, Dean and Jo all rushed out, walking towards the driver side door. "You guys ripped off a cement truck?" Jo asked as Jenny leaned her head out the window, smiling softly.

"We'll give it back." She grinned, pressing a button as the cement started filling the sewer system. Jenny jumped out, the four walking over to watch the cement fall down the hole.

"Well. That oughta keep him down there until he'll freezes over." Dean smiled, looking at the three.

...

Jenny's hand shook nervously as she fixed a scrape on Jo's cheek in the back seat, occasionally glancing to Dean, then to Ellen, who sat next to him.

"Jenny, I said it's fine." Jenny gave Jo a warning look and the blonde cleared her throat, letting Jenny go back to fixing her small wound.

Dean chuckled nervously. "Boy, you, you really weren't kidding about flying out, were you?" He asked Ellen, who gave him no reaction. Sam, Jo and Jenny all exchanged a look. After a longer silence, Dean spoke up again. "How about we listen to some music?"

Dean flicked the radio on.

"You're as cold as ice-" Ellen turned the radio off, and the three backseat passengers exchanged another look. Dean glanced in the rear view mirror to Jenny, as if for assistance. She shook her head and he sighed.

"This is gonna be a long drive."

...

"Ellen? This is my fault. Okay? I lied to you and I'm sorry. But Jo did good out there, I think her dad would be proud." Dean said as they all walked into the roadhouse, Jo being dragged by the elbow by Ellen. The older woman turned around, glaring at him.

"Don't you dare say that. Not you. I need a moment with my daughter. Alone." Jo and Ellen disappeared.

Jenny looked around awkwardly before walking out back to the Impala.
