Chapter 6

Braylee's POV

I don't know what's going on with my friends, but what's sure is that it's nothing good. They're arguing quite often, with Ashlinn constantly departing from our original plans and Kellie acting like a bossy bitch, like she would have all the rights to do so.

I know, someone is trying hard to divide us, and I highly suspect it's her, though there's nothing much we can do. If only my friends realized that... then life would be much easier.

Suddenly, though, Ashlinn asks, "Okay, do we really think we have enough proof to show that Leighanna is exactly who we think she is?" For once, she doesn't seem scared to pronounce her name - after all, she's a human being like everyone else among in this world. However, Kellie doesn't look very convinced, which causes me to be confused.

"Okay, Kellie, what's the problem?" I end up asking her. "Maybe is it because Ashlinn pronounced that name?" Okay, I'm not making things any better. I ought to have kept my mouth shut. Things are nowhere near improving, to be truly honest.

"You shouldn't have said it," retorts Kellie, addressing to Ashlinn. "It's dangerous. What if she's hearing us?"

"She can't be hearing us," comments Ashlinn instead. "Don't tell me you think she is a stalker, because, if so, my doubt about this wouldn't have to be legitimate."

"She is a stalker," replies Kellie, raising her voice, much to my annoyance (as she's only causing me a migraine). "We can't trust her."

"Huh. As if this would be true," is Ashlinn's last comment; after then, she crosses her arms and is about to leave. However, I won't let them argue for that, which means I have to intervene before it's too late.

"Please, girls, let's stop arguing. She could be at our back at any time," I say in fact, hoping to correct things, only to actually earn a couple of glares. Seriously, why can't they just realize arguing is silly and doesn't help to sort things out? Also, why can't we agree about anything?

Kellie and Ashlinn, after finally realizing that, shake hands in sign of peace and apologize to each other, though the former is still worried about the chance that Leighanna - at this point, omitting her name wouldn't be worth it - could be here.

Her suspects are only furthered when she hears some heels clicking. (Now that I notice, no-one among the three of us is wearing heels)

"What if it's her?" asks Kellie, almost panicking, which, according to Ashlinn, is useless. However, she won't listen to her, since the noise of clicking heels is becoming even more unbearable, which means that someone is very near.

That someone, unfortunately, seems to be pretty familiar to us. It's a girl with long blonde hair, blue eyes glaring at us in a scary manner, wearing high heels and a quite short black skirt with a plain purple T-shirt. She has dark red lipstick as make-up, that's it. She looks very simple, but at the same time very complex. She's too hard to be described.

In other words, unless we made a huge evaluation mistake, she is Leighanna.

She's staring at us pointlessly, without saying a word, as if she doesn't even know what she wants to tell us. She looks confused, but that confusion sounds so unnatural, so... how can I say that? Well... rehearsed.

"She doesn't convince me at all in person," whisper comments Ashlinn, but I clear my throat to point out that backtalking is plain rude; therefore, she stops.

Kellie tries to be nice to her and mutters an unconvinced hello, though I don't think Leighanna heard us. What matters is that she's honest with us and respects us.

I decide to try myself, hoping to be listened to. I know, she won't, but at least I want to get to know her real intentions. "Hi. How are you?"

She, at first, just shrugs, annoying me and my friends, but then she seems to realize what she's doing is unfair so she stops and just decides to smile. That smile, though, again seems unnatural and forced, which causes me to think that, after all, she isn't as true as she wants people to believe.

"I'm fine. What about you? Also, what was Ashlinn saying? I really hope it's not because of me." She says that in a surprisingly calm tone, yet I can't believe her at all. "If so, then I should leave. I'm definitely disturbing you, do you agree?"

"Yeah, you are. Leave, please, okay?" replies Kellie very bluntly, causing Leighanna's veins to pulse. As expected, her true colors are showing: she's anything but nice, everybody knows, but no-one wants to admit it. The bottom line is everyone fears her.

As soon as she clicks her stupid heels and turns back to leave, I can feel my friends' relief and joy, especially Kellie's. In that case, I really hope not to see her again. "She got on my nerves, big time," I state.

"If I see her again next time," adds Kellie, "I'll kill her with my bare hands."

"Don't," I advise, "unless you want to end up in jail. Let's not stoop to her game, it's not worth it. Let's just move on, instead. We have lives, unlike her." The last sentence sound mean, I know, but who cares? After all, I'm right: a girl who keeps stalking us to find out or deepest secrets and uses them at her own advantage is definitely someone who can't be said to have a satisfying life. But, again, I couldn't give a fuck about it.

Ashlinn is still shocked about having to face Leighanna: after all, there's no more hiding. While she is the first one to admit she's been too judgemental towards her, let's not forget she's been rude to us and, moreover, Ashlinn is probably the one who likes her the least. Anyway, what matters is that we can stay in peace, at least for now.

Though, I'm sure this peace is going to last little. Ashlinn's phone is ringing, which means it could be her apprehensive mother, her brother or just some random stalker, to the point that I end up shouting, "Don't answer the phone. It must be Leighanna calling."

Though, she chooses to ignore me. She definitely wants to shut her up on the phone, and, now, I'm definitely keen on listening to the barrage of insults she has in mind for her.
