Chapter 4

Leighanna's POV

That's just unbelievable! I can't really bear with the fact that Ashlinn Miller is attempting to exclude me from anything just because she can't keep her fucking tongue held for a minute!

Never mind. I don't need all that negativity, it just hurts me. What I need is a plan to make friends. Ashlinn and the others would be perfect, they have strong personalities, a lot of quirks and several other qualities that make them good friends and, possibly, good advisers.

However, there's something of them I don't really like, which is their tendency to be really closed, which means that they won't ever give anyone a single chance, especially to a girl like me.

Well, I don't have much, compared to them. I don't have parents that are loving enough to care about me. I have mean relatives consumed by envy. I have sisters who can't even understand that I'm here, that I exist (being the little one sucks!) and that I should be taken into consideration at least for once in their pathetic lives.

Not that life out of home is any better, though. At school, I almost never get good marks and no-one wants to sit next to me at lunch. It even seems as they're allying with each other to exclude me. Now, I'm even wondering if they do even know what pity is supposed to be, though I don't think so. They're too used to hating that I can't even hope things change for the better.

Hearing Mom and Dad arguing all the time isn't helping me at all. I wish I could run away. Seriously, I want to run away. Meanwhile, Audra and Izabella are backtalking like there's nothing else they can do - they love backtalking, especially when it comes to me, have I ever mentioned that? - whereas I'm alone, at a corner of my small room, barely retaining my tears and wanting to shout my true feelings out loud. I know it won't be possible, but why shouldn't I give it a try?

So, I pick my phone and try to make a call to a randomly chosen number. Maybe it doesn't even exist, but what matters is that I do so out of boredom, as well as will of escape this situation, which is only making me struggle like I only deserved those pains.

To my surprise, the number does exist. However, there's still a chance the receiver may not answer. I keep waiting for the phone stopping producing that annoying sound: beep beep. I don't need it to distract me from my thoughts and intentions.

It even seems as the receiver is answering the call. Now, I'm terrorized by what they could say, to the point that I even start regretting calling; however, as I hear a feminine voice saying, "Hello," I realize that I can't take it back anymore. Now, I must show my guts and reply.

"H-h-hello," I stutter, but it doesn't seem as the other person likes my behavior. I think she's considering hanging up.

"Who are you?" That question should have been avoided; however, I can't just think of lying, because it would be extremely disloyal, as well as a terrible faux pas. This could be the first step to the making of a possible friendship: I mustn't fail if I don't want to be lonely for the rest of my days.

"L-l-l... Leighanna." I pronounce my name like I'm scared or disgusted by it, which isn't a good sign at all. I think the girl will hang up, I'm more than sure. I'm not liked by anyone in town nor do I think the situation will ever change.

"Leighanna? That Leighanna?" The girl is shrieking loud. I think she'll kill me sooner or later, if not with words, then she'll do so hitting me hard to death or attempting to suffocate me.

Okay, don't you think I'm exaggerating. Unfortunately, I've been in this kind of situation at least twice in my life, not counting today. Hadn't luck assisted me, then I'd have died very soon.

"Hey? Are you hearing me?" I nod. "Listen carefully, I don't like the thought of you being our friend. You're too false, everything you say sounds unnatural, you have no personality..." That long streak of insults is definitely getting on my nerves. Is she Ashlinn Miller or any of her friends? I need to know, because I won't let any of them treat me like that.

"Who are you for saying that?" I ask, trying hard to conceal my anger. Surprisingly, I manage to do so, yet I'm still deemed to be untrue.

"Ashlinn. Ashlinn Miller," she replies, vomiting all her despisement on me. I've never heard anyone talking to with such a lack of elegance, as well as of respect. She really needs to learn manners. I don't even know if her parents taught it to her. If they did, that would mean that she never pays attention to anyone.

"Ok, Ashlinn," I reply, mocking her blunt tone, "you think I'm fake. Though, have you considered looking yourself in a mirror, to see if you are as truthful as you believe? I mean, a good friend never lies to oneself."

"Shut up, little bitch." Those words are enough for me to hang up the phone. I won't let her talk to me like that again.

I throw that hellish thing on the bed. I don't even care if it breaks - I'd rather not talk on the phone for ages than try approaching such a rude and insensitive girl. I think Ashlinn should just shame on herself. She isn't worthy of having friends such as the ones she has (their names should be Katie and Bailee, if I remember) because she never treats them well. It always seems as they're acting like they're her slaves. That's not good. If I become their friend, though, I can help them to find the true themselves, without having to rely on that dispotic bitch ever again.

Therefore I, Leighanna Triana, vow that, if I fail to comply to my goal of making friends, I shall instead make sure that those two girls get rid of Ashlinn once for all, unless she shapes up.
