I can see everyone marching towards the edge of the dome from the room we're in. The alien troops are already here and they're preparing for an attack. Apparently, there's this Titan, Thanos, who wants to collect six stones to kill half of the population in the universe. Vision has one of them embedded in his forehead, so we know they're going to go after him. Shuri is trying to detach the stone from Vision's body, while also trying to keep his conscience and his identity.

That, however, it's not easy at all. There's only two more of us apart from Shuri and Vision here. Wanda also stares at the battlefield through the huge glass. We don't say anything because we don't want to disturb Shuri, but the situation down there is not ideal, per se.

The alien creatures start slamming themselves against the doom, which kills most of them instantly. They keep doing it and I begin to wonder why would they basically sacrifice themselves, but just when it was getting repetitive, one of them achieves to get in.

Then, more follow the same steps, aggressively marching against our own forces. I turn to look at Wanda worriedly for the fate of our mates on the front.

"Shuri, is there anything I can do to help?" I say to the genius teen, who is working as fast as she can. I'm starting to feel useless here. "This is all so advanced. I'm a nurse, not an engineer. This kind of healing is way out of my league."

"I didn't ask for you to be here because you're a nurse." She says, not looking away from the holographic screen where she's constantly tapping. "I wanted you here because I know you're a great fighter. I know we'll be safe here if you're with us."

"Okay." I nod, then mumble, basically to myself. "I just hope they're fine without me down there." My gaze falls upon Wanda again, who I can tell feels the same way. She's actually the most powerful person I've ever encountered. I'm sure if she got down there, we'd win the battle in five minutes. Still, I don't say anything about that. She's up here, showing Vision her support. I've just recently learned that they're romantically involved and I know that if Bucky was the one laying on the table behind us, I wouldn't leave his side either.

Vision grunts as the machine above him keeps working. Right then, we get a rushing message from T'Challa. "How much longer, Shuri?"

"I've barely begun, brother." She tells him, moving her hands even faster, if that was possible.

"You might want to pick up the pace." If he saw her right now, he wouldn't have told that to his sister.

Suddenly, a loud sound rises among the yelling on the battlefield. A bunch of giant excavator wheels dig underneath the doom and emerge from the ground. If one of those starts moving, it would be the end of all of us.

"I'm going out there." I hear Wanda saying and I nod. She's possibly the only one who can do something about that. She looks for the nearest balcony to jump and get there flying.

But it's right then when the enemy takes advantage of the lack of protection that Wanda provided us up here.

In less than a second, one of Thanos' soldiers has killed the guards at the door, leaving no obstacles between him and Shuri. It seems to only be him, but he's decisively running towards the princess. I move my legs as fast as I can to get there before it can attack her. I block its double-sided polearm with my vibranium forearms and push it backward. Shuri stops working to get her own shooters and starts blasting it, giving me time to incorporate myself. Still, the blasts do nothing and he kicks me to the side before doing the same to Shuri, pushing her against the glass railing separating the different levels in the room and making her fall. When I get back up, Shuri's unconscious and Vision is nowhere to be seen, the alien's been left in the middle of the room, looking around confused.

I jump from the higher level to attack it, but out of nowhere, Vision gets it first and they both break through the window. Unluckily for me, I'm close enough for the enemy soldier to grab me by the foot and drag me with them.

I slip through the exterior walls until the alien finally lets go of my foot, falling to the ground. I manage to hang on to the wall edge, but I end up hanging from it.

"H-help!" I yell, hoping someone hears me through the earpiece. "I need a little help here!"

Nobody is quick enough, though. My fingers slip and I start to fall into the abyss. I'd expected it to happen a lot faster, but the fact that I knew I was going to crash made everything go painfully slower. In my head, there's nothing else I can think about. I just think about the crash and how much it is going to hurt me.

I suddenly feel I'm not falling anymore. The first thing I assume is that I've already hit the ground but the pain hasn't struck me yet. I open my eyes to find a pair of ugly sunglasses inches away from my face.

"You might want to start calling me angel instead of pigeon." Sam says as he carries me and flies us to where the fight is taking place, whereas I'm still in shock from the fall.

"No, Sam," I pant. "you're a goddamn blessed pigeon." A gasp comes out of me involuntarily when I remember what happened to Vision.  "Vision is alone with the alien. He needs help."

"Guys, we got a Vision situation-" The Falcon starts saying but before he can finish, someone shoots at us, forcing Sam to land and making the both of us roll into the ground.

Now I'm in the middle of the fight and I don't waste time. I take my gun and I start shooting at every creature that approaches me. Now that I'm up close, I can see they behave like aggressive giant dogs. I don't stop shooting at them, even when I have to walk backward a little bit to gain space. My feet move further away from my original position until my back smashes into something. I quickly turn around but I never end up pulling the trigger.

"Oh! It's you, doll!" Bucky stops aiming at me and I do the same. I grin at him for a moment but it doesn't last long since I have to start shooting at the space dogs again.

"Thought you could use another extra hand!" I say, pun intended. I feel safer now that we're fighting side to side. I'm baffled when a raccoon wearing a flighting suit and holding a gun in both of its little hands starts screaming 'Get some! Get some! Get some!' while it's killing Thanos' creatures. "Is that raccoon talking while shooting at alien space dogs?" Now, there's a sentence I never thought I'd say.

Bucky redirects his attention towards the bizarre animal and lifts him up by its collar as it keeps shooting. We're all three blasting all around and the technique seems to work pretty well.

"How much for the gun?" Says the raccoon once Buck lets him on the ground again.

"Not for sale!"

It nods but doesn't give up. "Alright. How much for the arm?" This time Bucky doesn't answer and the raccoon tries one last time. "Okay. How much for the girl?"

I roll my eyes and load my gun, assuming the raccoon was only joking. I'm stepping forward when I hear it go "Oh, I'll get that arm."

"That was weird." I say to Bucky before I start pulling the trigger again. We're back to back, covering each other up. Unexpectedly, my body leans backward because my weight is no longer resting on Bucky's back. When I turn around to see what's happened, I find him on one knee, probably looking for more support to shoot at a longer distance. Still, I can't help but kid about the situation. "And this is weirder- You'd better not be proposing in the middle of the end of the world!"

"I wasn't!" He yells as he gets up. "But if I was-"

"Careful!" Behind him, an alien dog is running straight in his direction and, instead of pointing my gun at it, I throw it down to get my back up knife. I push Buck out of the way and I lunge the blade in the creature, making it squeal.

Right after I push it down to the ground, already lifeless, everything goes quiet. The space dogs have stopped attacking and are looking in one single direction.

"Everyone, in my position." Cap says into the com. This can only mean one thing. Thanos is here.

Bucky and I start running through the big field, trying to find Steve. We have to go into the forest to locate him along with the mad titan.

We stop on our tracks. Wanda is using her powers to destroy Vision's stone as Thanos steps closer and closer to them. We have to stop him before he gets to them.

"Eyes up," Cap tells us. "Stay sharp."

The first one to attack the villain is Banner, but even with the Hulkbuster, Thanos easily gets him out of the way with the stones. Steve is next, and as effortlessly, Thanos does the same to him. And the same to T'Challa. And Sam. And Rhodes.

I check to see if I have any bullets left, but in the meanwhile, I do that, Bucky runs while shooting at him. Thanos closes his fist and a blast of purple light pushes Bucky to the ground.

I look at Bucky's motionless body and then at the titan, who's now defending himself from Okoye and Natasha without difficulty. I have no bullets, I lost my knife and I have nothing but my bare hands to attack him. That is when I realize I don't need anything but that.

Enraged, I start running towards him and I see how he starts closing his fist again. Before he can use any of the stones against me, I jump and, while gathering all my strength, I hit one of my forearms against the other.

The clash of vibranium against itself sends a wave of sound that pushes the villain back. But apart from that, Thanos recovers quickly and all my efforts have only made him angrier. A purple light emanates from his hand and the next thing I know is that I'm laying under a giant rock.

"I can't..." The titan gets away as the rock obstructs my breathing. It's on top of my ribs and I'm pretty sure it has crashed some of them. "I can't... b-breathe." I try to move but is worthless. The rock is too heavy for me to lift it from below. "Bucky..."

"Ann!" I hear him call me and a moment later I'm free from the pressure. I gasp for air, what only makes me cough. Eventually, my coughing turns into sobs. The pain in my ribs intensifies the more I weep.

"I hate this..." I cry, even if it burns me with pain. "I don't want to fight anymore. I want to go home."

I can only feel Bucky's hand holding mine. I can't see much, I'm looking straight to the sky and the light and my tears blur my vision. Still, I can feel Bucky is on the edge of freaking out because he doesn't know what to do to help me.

I only stop crying when I hear thunder and everything turns cold all of a sudden. I try to sit down straight, see what's going on.

Thor, the god of thunder, has thrust his new weapon, Stormbreaker, into Thanos's chest. The god is staring at the titan as if he's just realized he's made a huge mistake. It doesn't take long until a blue light surrounds Thanos and absorbs him, transporting him to another place in the universe.

Everything is silent, but there's something wrong. There's something really wrong. I'm starting to feel sick to my stomach and there's a new energy in the atmosphere that is making me forget about my broken ribs.

The silent was just the calm before the storm, and Bucky is the first to break it.

"Steve?" He calls his friend, not knowing that is happening. But as soon as he does, his hand starts fading into ashes. In less than a second, I witness how his whole body disintegrates next to me.

In shock, I lean forward to touch the ground where he was just standing. However, I never get to reach it, as my hand starts to turn into dust as well.

"What the hell..." I say to myself. I won't have any more time to react.

Before I say or do anything else, I cease to exist, and am lost in the sands of time.
