~Prologue~
'Where is it...' I walked around looking for the fairy ring I was told about yesterday. There had been reports of people going missing in the woods and I wanted to make sure the rings weren't rumors or just folklore. There had to be some kind of explanation.
I had been able to rule out a lot of the rumors and theories in this town. The only ones that I couldn't were the kelpie, fae, and demons. I had some doubts but I had to be careful. A witch without a familiar looking for an explanation on why so many people are going missing. How smart.
I didn't have a choice. Any time I tried to summon a familiar none ever came. I had lost hope in having one. But there really wasn't a need to worry I knew the dangers of fairy rings and other mythical creatures. It was just a matter of how quickly I could think when faced with said creatures.
'I wish I had the money to live out here... it's so peaceful' I looked around at all the trees and smiled softly listening to the birds and other wild animals.
I wasn't paying attention until something hit the back of my legs making me fall onto my hands and knees. Right in front of me was the fairy ring the town's people were talking about. If I had taken three more steps I would've been inside of it and long gone. I turned around to see what had hit me but nothing was there. No rocks or pieces of wood on the ground. It's as if nothing had hit me in the first place. I sat on my knees and tried to recollect myself. 'Maybe I'm just a bit more clumsy than I thought.' I shrugged and pulled out my journal, flipping to an empty page.
I spent a few minutes sketching the circle and writing down as much as I could about it. As soon as I finished I cut off a piece of one of the small mushrooms and placed it onto the paper. I closed the journal and bound it as tight as the leather strings would let me.
