02: Art class

Narrator POV

Jungkook wasn't one to fall for someone.

He was the type of boy not to catch no feeling for anyone.

That's what he implied himself to be at least. As things go, he knew that opening up to someone was equivalent of asking the world to hurt you.

He saw it all happen from afar, yet it was so close to him.

No child ever fully knows how their parents' relationship really is. Sometimes it's all a play, sometimes it's genuine, sometimes it consists of pure hate.

Jungkook never knew his parents were fighting, until he got home early from school one day and heard them. It was then, he started realizing their horrible acting, fake smiles and marks.

Not soon after that day, his mother left.

She left her mentally abusive husband, but also her son who only wanted his mother's love and attention.

Jungkook grew up knowing that he wasn't a rare case and that there was other people with worse problems. Accordingly, he never spoke to anyone about it. He never talked about it with a friend, never tried seeking help, never asked his dad what happened cause he was scared of getting hurt. He never sought for his mom for she would come back and take him with her, right?

Opening up and falling for someone would always only end one way. His parents showed him that.

But the 18 year old boy couldn't help falling for the sweet, sarcastic, beautiful girl painting next to him in the art class they had two or three times a week. Not only was her presence stunning, her personality was too.

At first Jungkook had noticed her attention on him, which made him notice her. He did not want to fall for anyone, but he was not scared of a good time — with other words, a good fuck.

Feelings suck, but head from a pretty girl does not.

The glances she took at him every now and then, looking away shyly as Jungkook glanced back, made the guy confident that he could manage to get this girl.

But he was only trying to fool himself.

He didn't know her much at first of course, but he could tell she was a beautiful person inside out, just by looking at her paintings.

And that was the first step in the wrong direction.

After a short while talking with each other, Nia recognized her crush to be quiet. Not quiet as in not talking cause his big mouth had no problem showing, but quiet as in he didn't talk about himself ever.

Jungkook didn't want to talk about himself, cause even though his plan was already slowly failing, it still was to not catch feelings. Therefore he played it off as if he didn't care about anything. The typical cold hearted boy the nice girl would fall for.

Nevertheless, that was how he was used to show himself to his friends. Cool, emotionless, only present to fuck pretty girls.

That was until he heard the girl's friend had talked to his own best friend and he found out she had a crush on him.

It made his heart flutter and it was then he realized his plan had failed. He was still being cautious with himself, but he couldn't keep himself away anymore. So in a cool-not-emotional-boy way he asked her out on a date.

And the date only made him get even more lost in his plan and only made him fall for real. He really liked her.

"Why are you staring at her like that?" Taehyung spoke from besides Jungkook.

Jungkook snapped out of it, averting his eyes from the girl to his own canvas, "Shh Hyung, you're not being very quiet." He whispered through gritted teeth.

"I wasn't trying to." The older boy said and nudged his younger brother's shoulder, "Man, since when did my best friend become such a nerd, go talk to her."

"I'm not scared to talk to her, I'm not five." Jungkook said defensively.

Taehyung leant into Jungkook's ear, whispering, "Prove it."

Jungkook turned around now fully facing his annoying friend, who he himself would call his best friend, but isn't the concept of a best friend being a person you could trust yourself with?

Taehyung knew nothing of the younger's troubles and his emotional side. No one did anymore.

"The fuck, do you think I'm scared or something!?" Jungkook spoke through gritted teeth, his voice still low. It upset him that he was about to get caught being nervous about a girl.

The older boy didn't say a word, but averted his eyes to behind Jungkook, "Oh, hi Nia!" He said cheery and waved.

Jungkook slowly turned around and noticed the girl he had been observing just a few minutes ago in front of him.

"Hi... Taehyung..?" She spoke questionably, not sure if the name was right.

"Yes, Taehyung, I'm Jungkook's friend." The dirty blonde haired man smiled.

The girl returned a close-mouthed smile, stopping herself just before saying her own name which he already knew, "Can I talk to Jungkook for a moment?"

Taehyung looked at his younger friend, "I don't know, can she?"

"Fuck off Tae." Jungkook scoffed and shoved away his friend. Taehyung being Taehyung, he shrugged before leaving the classroom, maybe taking his friend's request a bit too serious.

Looking back from the door which Taehyung just left through, Jungkook met the girl's face lifted in a smile as her eyes still were on the door.

"So... what's up?" Jungkook spoke, catching the girls attention again.

"Oh yeah, I just wanted to... apologize." She spoke with hesitant breaks between her words.

She was so cute when she was nervously fiddling with her fingers, as if it was him that made her be like that.

Did he make her nervous?

In that moment, all he wanted to do was fall into a soft smile and place an innocent kiss on her forehead. But that couldn't happen.

One: he can't soften up, two: she's not his girlfriend, it would simply be weird.

"For what?" He spoke plainly, but still with a sweet tone. He couldn't help it when it was her.

"For blaming you for ruining my painting the other day... I know now that it wasn't you. I'm sorry." The girl shifted in her spot, rubbing her elbow.

He did make her nervous.

"Oh that... don't apologize, it was actually really amusing seeing you fiery and angry at me."

To be honest, Jungkook had thought a lot about what had made her flip out on him. The day after the incident he'd asked to walk her home. It puzzled him when she wanted him to and when she didn't even mention the previous day once.

He didn't know why she had gotten angry at him, but nevertheless it was quite cute the way she had scrunched her nose as she tried speaking in a low voice so the teacher wouldn't notice the conflict going on. The way her ears tinted red, her fists clenching as if she could've hit him on the spot. Somehow it was a cute sight. A little intimidating actually, but mostly cute.

"Amusing, really?" She scoffed and pouted, "I take my apology back then."

The boy chuckled for himself, "Hey, make it up to me."

"You said you were amused, maybe you should thank me for amusing you instead?" She perked a brow.

"I was actually really scared, I thought you were gonna kill me for a second... I think you need to make it up to me."

"Sure..." She went silent for a bit while Jungkook awaited her next words, "Make it up to you... how so?"

"I don't know, I could use a new phone..." Jungkook rubbed his invisible goatee, making Nia chuckle shortly.

"No way Jungkook."

The mentioned boy swallowed the failed attempt, clicking his tongue in mock disappointment, "Worth a try. I mean, you could invite me over for a movie, or give me a kiss?"

And then blow me so I can move on

The younger girl stopped breathing for a second hearing the words that were said out loud.

Was he really asking her for a kiss?

"Relax, I was joking. Don't take everything so serious." Jungkook let out a laugh and Nia tried laughing along, not to make things weird, "But only about the last part, you could invite me over and treat me as the king I am."

"Dream on pretty boy." Nia rolled her eyes with a smile on her lips.

"I will." Jungkook smiled at her amused.

He then turned to his canvas, grabbing his pen to continue his sketch. The canvas caught Nia's attention. He was also a really good drawer and she recently had loved to admire his work.

Jungkook had that confident and cocky aura that attracted the younger girl, but the girl was not dumb, she knew there was something more hiding behind it. And she wanted to find out.

Crossing her arms and taking a step towards him, she wanted to see if she could bring out the little boy in him, "Is this your way of asking me on another date?"

A smirk made its way on Jungkook's lips, not a lot of seconds passing by before he answered.

"What if it is?" He spoke, not a stutter in his words. He stared at her, waiting for a response to his offer. He clearly wasn't intimidated.

A brief silence came over the two before Nia spoke, "Fine, but I won't treat you like any form of royalty other than my guest."

"Ms Kim and Mr Jeon I don't see your paint brushes on your canvases?" The teacher spoke catching the girls attention, but Jungkook didn't bother.

Nia smiled apologetic at the teacher and turned around to her own canvas again.

"I'll come over Friday evening." Jungkook whispered before turning to his canvas, not letting the girl have a say.
