Rumour: Wattpad is allowing Truyen to copy my stories.

Answer: False.

The issue with Truyen sites has been a long time matter. I can't recall how long I've been seeing and reading users making the assumption that someone is copying their works and posting it on truyen sites.

What is Truyen?

It's a mirror site, and a lot of the truyen sites (truyenfun, truyen4u, etc) contain malware that could infect your device so please don't click it! 

As an example, all my stories are exclusively published here on Wattpad. I have never posted it anywhere or released soft copies but look what I have been sent (yes, these were sent to me recently by a friend thinking that my works were plagiarised):

I have only recently updated my story covers and definitely those chapters but they are immediately reflecting on their end. This shows how fast they are updating. Even the number of reads and votes are downright the same.

So you may be thinking if Wattpad is doing something and what you can do as well?

Here's Wattpad's official message:

Hi there, 

That site is not actually copying content from Wattpad, they're looking at Wattpad through another webpage. Sites like that are mirror or 'lens' sites. They look at Wattpad through a lens which usually carries their own logo, malware, etc.

The Wattpad team are aware of these sort of sites and are working on getting them taken down, but they're usually located in countries that are less caring of copyright law and so can take a long time to get removed.

If you click on the site or any links related to that site, you are likely at risk of a malware attack, so be sure to do a full threat/safety scan on your laptop/computer/phone.

For your safety and for your readers, you may want to include this message in the summary of your Wattpad (this also applies if you write on another site) - 

"If you are reading this story on any other platform other than Wattpad, you are very likely to be at risk of a malware attack. If you wish to read this story in its original safe form, please go to (Wattpad User link). Thank you."

Does that mean it's impossible to solve this issue?

It's possible but definitely not immediately. They've been removed multiple times already but they just keep reappearing. Truyenfun is more on plagiarising Wattpad itself and Wattpad is working hard to get these sites removed.

Again, make sure you DO NOT click or visit any truyen sites. Your devices will be at risk of malware attacks
