Chapter 19

1820

I did not know how long I huddled in the corner of the room for, watching the light from the sun, but when I came to, I noticed I wasn't alone, and someone had unlocked the door to the room I was in, and coming in.

The first thing I saw was long hair, flowing, then a woman's head, then I saw that this woman was over a mans shoulder and she appeared to be fast asleep, then I saw who was carrying her, as the man shut the door and locked it again.

His eyes found mine and he smiled at me. "Good morning Charles."

'Good morning'? "Good morning?" I could not believe he had said that, after the morning I had went through, unable to leave this forsaken room from the fear of being burnt to a crisp!

"You damn bastard!"

"What have you done to me!?" I spat out angrily, using my hands against the wall to stand up.

My whole body felt weak, the muscles in my arms and legs felt as though I had overdone myself in activities, I did not feel like this when I woke up, but then again, today started off badly.

I watched as the one named Ciaran Lockwood placed the unconscious woman on to the bed, then loosening the top two buttons of his shirt before sitting down on a nearby chair.

"She may not look it, but she's surprisingly heavy for a human." He said, looking at the woman, unmoving in the bed.

I just wanted to leave, report this man and then forget all about this hellish nightmare, he was out of his mind insane and now he had kidnapped a innocent woman.

"What do you plan to do with us?" I asked, his eyes turning to mine.

"I'm going to do nothing, my part is over, it's up to you what happens next."

What did he mean? This man spoke as though he was messing with me, it irritated me to no end, being around him like this just made me feel worse.

"What do you want me to do?" I asked, using my hand on the wall to steady my balance, looking at the man smirking in his seat with his hands crossed.

"Well, eat of-course."

My whole body felt heavy, and my stomach felt as though it had shrunk, and just this psycotic madman bit me, I have felt as though I had a fever and needed to be sick.

"Have you looked in the mirror lately, Charles?" He asked me, as I flinched. "You need to eat soon, before I must force you."

Within a blink of an eye, Ciaran was behind me with his hand wrapped tightly around my neck, he had dragged me to where he was sitting in a chair, next to a vanity with a small mirror on the table.

He roughly slammed my head down onto the table and griped my hair tightly to angle my face so I could see my reflection in the mirror.

When I saw my face, I could do nothing but try and get out of Ciaran's hold, so I could push myself as far as possible from what I had just seen in the mirror.

A... monster.

My eyes glowed red in the dim lit room and my eyes were sunken and dark, I was so very pale, and my teeth... my teeth were no longer my own, for I was now a thing of nightmares.

I was a Vampire.

"You see now don't you? You have to eat or you will lose your mind, and I'm not going to let that happen, do you understand me, Charles?" He said, crouching down to talk to me at eye level, as I had fallen to the floor.

"I'm giving you a choice, either you eat this lovely young woman or I shall force you." He whispered deadly quiet, his eyes turning the same color as before- a violent red.

Just like mine.

What was he talking about, eat? There was nothing to eat, and the woman on the bed was out of the question, even if she had a scent coming from her that made her look all the more tempting, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

"I won't do it." I couldn't do it.

I could hear it now, her heartbeat, she was still alive but she was hanging on, whatever this madman did to her wasn't something I could undo, even if I managed to escape, I knew I couldn't save her.

"That's is a pity." He said, disappointed as I saw his facial expression darken.

Ciaran had lifted me up and shoved me onto the bed, then I watched as he lifted the limp girls head and dug his sharp long nails deep into her skin until she started to bleed from her neck, making me senses suddenly go wild.

What was this smell? I should be disgusted but it was like nothing I had ever smelled before, of all the food I had eaten, this scent didn't even come close to them, it was almost like...

"The blood calls to you Charles, you mustn't waste food now, after all I picked her just for you." He lectured me, like someone would lecture a child.

I swallowed hard as I became dizzy, the sound of her gushing blood was all I could hear now, it became too overwhelming, too strong to ignore, and I was hungry... so incredibly.. hungry.

Before I knew it, Ciaran was praising me as I opened my mouth wide and latched my teeth down forcefully onto the girls neck, I could feel her moving but if anything, it made me hold her down harder as I savored the taste of her blood.

She was delicious, like nothing I've tasted before, I could feel her hot sweet blood travel and move all around inside my body, nourishing me as my muscles started to stop hurting, it was refreshing and addictive, I had never felt so good in my life before.

"Was that so hard? How do you feel now?" Ciaran's looked happy when I looked at him, seeing he was looking at the woman with a proud expression.

"For your first time you've done spectacularly well at not making a mess, I'm impressed."

I had finished eating, but only when I moved back and saw what he was talking about did I see what I had done to the poor innocent woman he had brought with him.

She no longer had a pulse, I couldn't feel her breathing anymore as her blood began to stain the sheets, she was much thinner now, she looked as if she was a corpse, when only just minutes ago she was healthy, and so very alive.

What have I done?

"I... killed her." I didn't understand, I looked down at my hand and saw only blood on them, for now I was a murderer.

I could still taste her blood on my tongue, on my teeth and I could feel it filling me inside, making me whole, but at what cost? A life for another?

This isn't what I wanted, this isn't who I was.

"Take it away... take this curse away!" I was trembling as I moved from the lifeless woman's corpse, a sick feeling deep in my stomach.

"Whatever you've done to me, I don't want it!" I yelled to Ciaran, who was stoically watching me.

He was silent, and just looking at me, why wasn't he saying anything? Why was I suffering so?

What had I done to deserve this fate?

"It can not be undone Charles, this is your life now... as it is also mine, I am sorry I did this to you, but you were chosen and I do not make the rules." He said, walking over to bed as he began covering the woman with a sheet.

"What are you saying?" I laughed out, my whole body shaking as my back hit a wall. "Why?"

"Why was I chosen for this? Why must I live this way?" I cried out, my body slowly sinking to the floor as I held my head in my shaking hands.

Ciaran was silent, and as I had clenched my eyes shut in hoping I would awaken at any moment from this hellish nightmare, I could hear Ciaran wrap the young woman in a sheet and then move her from the bed to the floor.

When I opened my eyes she was wrapped up neatly, and the bed was freshly made again by Ciaran, all without breaking a sweat or without a single emotion, like he'd done this a thousand times before today.

"Why was I chosen?" I looked at Ciara as he turned his back to lift up the woman wrapped up in a sheet to put over his shoulder.

"Who am I to blame for making me this way, if not you?" I stood up, and gripped him by the arm as he put his hand around the doorknob.

Ciaran sighed heavily, then turned to face me, only then did I see his face, only it wasn't emotionless like before, he had was smiling, then he broke out laughing.

He was laughing so loud that I was speechless at what had caused such an extreme reaction from him, but he just kept laughing, and laughing, until he couldn't laugh anymore.

"Blame?" He sighed. "You are a newborn, what can you do that a thousand before you could not, hmm?"

"You should be thanking them for saving you from a very bleak life, because what The Elite Council are giving you has never been given before, not to a newborn with the only skillset of holding a brush." He scoffed out, positioning the dead woman on his shoulder again.

With that, he opened the door and then turned to look at me, irritation in his eyes.

"Your old life is over, the moment you step out of this room there will be no Charles Rowan Von Straus, only Vampire."

Ciaran left the room leaving me standing there watching him leave as he began walking down some stairs in front of me, not turning back to look at me, and not saying a single word more.

My life... my life was just starting to mean something, the years I had spend forging my own path away from my parents... last night was that moment where everything was suppose to change- for the better.

If I leave now, is what he said going to be true? Will I no longer be who I was?

Is this who I am now?

The scent of blood coming from me was strong, I still had the blood of that girl on me, around my mouth and on my tongue, and only then did I see that Ciaran was only half right.

I was a vampire... but I will always be Charles Rowan Von Straus.

Whatever this curse was, I wasn't going to let it change who I was, unlike Ciaran who thought himself higher amongst the others, or these Vampire's he mentioned, part of this 'Elite Council' who thought they had some claim over me.

I still didn't know what was waiting for me, the moment I leave this room there will be no going back, I knew that the moment I saw that woman and Ciaran, that I could no longer see my friends, nor family again.

I couldn't risk harming them.

There was so much answers left to be answered, and I wasn't going to get them from being in this damned room, I needed to find out more from Ciaran, then... then I needed to get as far as possible away from this madness.

Ciaran won't let me go so easily, so I must play along until I see a way out, then... I will find the ones responsible for making me into this monstrous beast and then stop them from harming anyone else.

I wasn't going to be their puppet, I was not going to be this person they wanted me to be.

I carved my own path, and if they hadn't known that about me already, they were going to find out.... sooner rather than later.
