Bonus- Eloise, Chapter 9

I was so nervous!

Tonight, was the fundraiser, and like a complete crazy person, I showed up at Rowan Grant's house without a single thought on how to ask if he wanted to come.

From our talk at his party, I couldn't help but not think about him, his eyes, his voice, my god, even the way he walked and moved was so damn sexy.

I had gone out into London and bought myself a dress I could never afford if not for William offering, it was 600 pounds and every time I looked at the price tag I cut off, makes me sick.

I knew that if I wanted to make an impression on Rowan, that I needed to at least look like I fitted in next to him.

God... just the thought of him makes me all hot and bothered, especially from out last talk.

He kissed me!

His lips were surprisingly cool, but now that I thought about it, his skin was always cool, not cold enough to make me alarmed, it was so strange, no matter how much I touched him, or kissed him, he was still cold.

Kissing Rowan was unreal, not because he was incredibly good looking and wealthy, but because for some reason he kissed me back, not only that but he said he wanted to date me.

Him, date me!

I was dying to tell someone, but James didn't feel like the right person to talk to about me kissing one of his friends, and my friends back in America... well... they've gone silent since I moved here.

I had a good feeling being here now, I no longer missed home, or my brother, Levy, I wanted to stay in London with William.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't because of mysterious and devilishly attractive Rowan Grant, because it was.

He was like nobody I have ever met before, he was only 30 but he felt more mature and experienced then anyone I've ever met before, but he never gave any of it away unless you paid close attention to him.

Look at me... I'm already head over heels for a guy I just kissed.

God, he was such a good kisser, I could have stayed with him and kissed him all day and night if it didn't come off as creepy and possessive.

He probably has a girlfriend... he's charming, has money and he's surrounded by beautiful and talented people daily.

Why would he even look at me, never mind kiss me?

I hated that about myself, I always had to second guess good things happening to me, Rowan wasn't even my boyfriend.

I didn't even know anything about him, other than what I searched online, and what James told me.

Whatever, I needed to stop thinking like this, it was starting to get me depressed.

He's coming tonight, I should be happy he even said yes to someone he doesn't know, he seemed like an important and busy guy.

"Eloise, are you ready dear?" I hear William from behind the bedroom door.

With one last look in the mirror at my makeup, hair and dress, I feel more dressed and put together than the last time I wore a dress, at Rowan's birthday get together.

"Yeah, I'll be down in second!" I call out, then take a deep breathe.

I'm so freaking nervous!

I grabbed my purse and went and opened my bedroom door and then walked down the spiral stairs of William's crazy house, which I still haven't gotten used to.

When I reach downstairs, I see that William is dressed nicely in a dark blue suit and black shirt, and James is dressed in casual wear, with a white shirt and blue blazer.

"Sorry for keeping you both waiting." I said apologetically as I reached them.

They both turned around, and William's smile reaches his eyes as he leaned down and kissed me on the side of my cheek, not used to having anyone do that, definitely not William.

"You look absolutely breathtakingly splendid, Eloise." William said, looking me over.

"Oh, thank you." I blushed hard, just as James's bro hugged me with one arm.

"Splendid." He whispered in my ear, mocking William, making me hold back a laugh.

"Shall we go then?" William asked as I nodded my head and followed him as he opened the front door, James followed behind, closing the door behind us.

Now that it was really happening, I was getting even more nervous, I wanted tonight to go well, when I asked to be part of the fundraiser James's mum, Emery had put together, she immediately passed the responsibility to me.

I felt like she was trying to sabotage me, to embarrass myself most likely, it's not that hard to see that she didn't like me, being born from a woman William had an affair with, while he was still married.

The trip to the event didn't take long, mainly because I was thinking stupid things like, what if Rowan didn't show up? Or did he really spread the invitations out? Or worse, did anyone even show up?

My stomach was tightening with the stress, I wanted to do good, I didn't want to prove Emery right and fail, I wanted people to be proud of me.

Taking William's hand, he helps me out the car as this ridiculous dress felt suffocating, and these heels were incredibly hard to stand up straight in.

Once we got inside, I see just how thriving and packed the place was, with pieces of art I have never seen before, I couldn't believe it, he really did donate for the children...

Rowan.

William had left to greet people whilst James made a beeline for the bar, which didn't surprise me, I was starting to think he had a drinking problem, but it was nothing like my mums.

Perhaps something was bothering him?

"Eloise!"

I turn and see Emma, one of the other girls who made tonight possible. "Can you believe this? I actually think we've already made over 1 million in donations."

"Really!?" I couldn't believe it. "No freaking way." How the hell is that even possible?

"That friend of yours who donated some art, you'd never believe how much they actually go for, somebody has already asked if they could put it aside for them." She whispered in my ear.

My heart flipped at the mention of Rowan, and that's when I see that this was only possible because of him and his donation, and him telling his friends with 'deep pockets' about tonight.

"Make sure you thank him, seriously, tonight has just started and we've already passed our goal!" Emma grinned out excitably before hugging me and then walking off to another girl part of tonight's event.

I looked around and found one of the pieces from Rowan, it was his style, gothic and dark, with a morbid setting of a man eating another man, it was incredibly disturbing, but a crowd had already gathered around it, excited to place bids.

It must be worth a lot, I'd have to ask Rowan, unless that was rude?

Dammit, I'm nervous again, at just the thought of him.

I wonder if he's here yet?

Moving from the group that has gathered around the painting, I search the crowd for him, there were so many people here that it was hard to spot anyone I knew, until I saw William, but he wasn't alone.

Rowan was talking to him, and even from here I could see that it wasn't a good talk, William looked annoyed where Rowan had a stoic expression on his face.

What was William saying to him?

Did he find out about us?

Before I knew, I was walking over to them, I kept my eyes on Rowan and what he looked like, he wore a suit but compared to other guys wearing suits tonight, his looked different and it made him sexy as hell.

He looked amazing, and I wasn't the only one that had noticed, women, young and old, even some men were looking at Rowan with lustful eyes, it pissed me off how they just stared at him and sipped their fancy drinks.

Rowan wasn't hard to miss, he was attractive and tall, he stood out in a room crowded of people, of-course I had no reason to be jealous, he wasn't my befriend.

I just had to keep reminding myself...

He wasn't mine.

They haven't noticed me yet, and once I reach them, I can't help but get excited that he showed up.

"Rowan, you made it" I said, startling William, and making both men turn and look at me.

His eyes went to mine, and I swear I thought I saw him smile.

"Anything for you." He said, his deep voice sending shivers down my body as I felt my face get hot.

I can't believe he said that in front of William, who looks furious, I didn't know where to look.

"Do you both know each other?" I couldn't help but ask, as I saw them talking to each other.

William didn't say anything, as Rowan hummed out lowly.

"We're acquainted." He simply said, giving nothing away.

"Oh." Rowan smiled at me, ignoring William glaring at him.

"It looks like it's going to be quite a successful show up, I expect every piece will be bought."

I couldn't help but get giddy and laugh. "Yeah, I think so too, and it's all thanks to you, I can't thank you enough for helping me out, all of us at the charity appreciate you helping us out." I said with a thankful smile, as I reached out and touched his arm without thinking.

I was getting lost in his eyes, and if not for William, I would've forgotten that he was still here.

"How did he help you?" William asks me.

"Mr. Grant spread the word and because of him it looks like we not only have enough for the children's hospital, but enough for all of them." I awkwardly laughed out, trying to ease the William's growing annoyance.

"You could've told me; I could have helped." He snapped out, his annoyance slipping.

"Eloise you can depend on me more; with my connections you wouldn't need to do a damned fundraiser with scraps of art."

The mood was getting suffocating, and William was getting mad, I didn't know what to do or what to say, I had worked hard to make tonight happen, but he-

"I wouldn't call a 2.6 million pounds piece of art scrap, William." Rowan says, looking at William with hard eyes.

"You look tired Mr. Prime Minister, perhaps you should call it a night?" He then said, making my eyes go wide at how bold he was, I looked to William to see his reaction.

"Yes... you're right, I do feel quite tired suddenly..." He said, making me watch completely amazing he agreed, and walked away without a word to me, or Rowan.

That... was amazing, but crazy, how did he do that?

One second William looked like he was about to cause a scene, and the next, he's walking out the door.

"I'm so sorry you had to see that." Rowan said, making me look at him, slightly embarrassed he had to see William like that.

"I didn't think he'd act like that with you, I don't know what his problem is tonight, he's usually nice." I sigh out.

"It's fine, I've already forgot all about it."

"Show me around?" He asked.

"S-Sure, of-course, please." I smile, and gestures for me to follow me as I looked at him shyly in his brown eyes.

Suddenly, I felt something cold touch my hand and that's when I see Rowan had put his hand in mine and intertwined his fingers with mine.

He's holding my hand! What on earth...

"I would hate to be separated from you." He said, before I saw someone walk up behind him, looking a lot like police, Rowan turns around, noticing me looking behind him.

"Officers." Rowan greets them, looking unbothered as they approach him.

"Can I help you?"

"Are you Rowan Grant?" A police officer asks him, making me look around to see everyone has stopped what they were doing and were now looking over here at us.

"I am." He said, without pause.

"Could we speak to you for a moment please?" One officer asks.

"Preferably somewhere else, sir."

Rowan looked back at me and smiled apologetically at me before letting go of my hand. "I'll be right back." He said, before turning and following the police officers out the room as people whispered as he left.

What would they want with him?

I followed quietly behind them and saw them go into one of the empty venue rooms, I didn't to intrude but I also couldn't go back into the venue, where they were not auctioning off art Rowan gave.

I could hear it being sold for so much money it was hard to not smile as I hear a man yell 'SOLD' at 2.1 million, knowing that tonight had been a success, and Emery will have a sour look on her face when she finds out.

I don't know how long I waited out in the hallway, I had grabbed my phone from my bag and without thinking, started googling Rowan again.

His photo came up, and then his Wikipedia, I couldn't stop myself from peeking into his life, I felt like I didn't know anything about him, and all these people here today did.

It said he rode horses, but he really didn't look like the type.

Suddenly, I felt a deep familiar voice, filled with amusement, making me throw my phone up in the air as they had scared the hell out of me.

Turning around I see Rowan looking down at me, surprised to see me out here, and the police behind him driving off.

I look at my phone and realize... he had just seen me stalking him... online.

Jesus, can the ground just swallow me whole?

Even so, he looked like he wasn't in any trouble, which made me feel more relaxed seeing him now, like he always does, nonchalant and stoic, but with eyes so expressive they pull me in.
