family reunions;
❛ DEATH TO JULIET ❜
❝ mr. hargreeves has passed away ❞

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The Blackwell Academy fell apart two decades ago. When Clara Blackwell died and the children started training with the Umbrella Academy next door, everything was much more dull. They stopped being a family and looked like a programmed army. Which was something that only became more obvious after Number Seven, Charles, died on a mission.

Their official downfall happened when they all turned eighteen. People started leaving one by one. First, it was Number Four. Regina has always been a rebellious spirit so no one was surprised when she was the first to pack her bags. Then, it was Number Two and Six, Landon and Annabeth. And then Number Five, Marcel. And then finally Number One.

Sharon always felt like it was her responsibility to keep the Blackwell Academy going but she couldn't stare at the empty halls and the quiet house anymore.

So, they all left Rebecca alone.

The eight years of being completely alone with nothing other than an empty house full of memories hurt her up to a point that she was slowly going insane. Her immortality and the fact that she still looked fifteen was proven to be a curse because she couldn't do anything.

Eventually she decided to continue with her mother's plan. She was going to look for more people who were born on October 1st of 1989 and was going to try to help them with their powers. It was difficult because all of the people born on that date were adults by the time that she started looking for them.

The people that she did find left after only a while of staying there. In eight years, she managed to help out fifteen people. All of them knew about their powers. It was impossible to live with them for more than twenty years and not know about them. Most of them only wanted to learn how to control it but there were four of them that actually wanted to learn how to use them.

But they soon left her too.

She would have gone insane if it was not for Landon calling her at least once a week and for Betty ❪ the maid that she and Sharon hired before the latter left the Academy ❫ who was the only person who stepped into that house for years other than her, Pogo and occasionally Reginald.

Nights at the Blackwell Academy were always quiet. Peaceful in a haunting kind of way. It made her want to scream so loud that every person down in their street would go unconscious. One of those quiet and stormy nights, Rebecca was the first person Pogo went to after the death of Reginald Hargreeves.

He walked into her office ❪ the one that used to belong to her mother ❫ with a blank look on his face. Pogo looked absolutely drained.

"Miss. Blackwell? Can I come in?"

A smile immediately showed up on Rebecca's face, "Of course, Pogo. Do you need something?"

"In a way yes." he nodded solemnly, "I need you to call your siblings. Mr. Hargreeves has passed away."

"Oh." She blinked, taken aback. The shock was too much that she wasn't even sure if she was sad or not. Two hours ago, when she had one of her banshee episodes, she thought that a person down the street died or something. Which, she now realized, was a dumb thing to think because she wouldn't have reacted like that if a stranger died. "I'll go call them."

SHARON BLACKWELL "CHANNELLER" NUMBER ONE

Sharon was living her best life. She finished law school and was now one of the best lawyers in the country. But her job was not the highlight of her life after the Blackwell Academy.

Her family was.

She has just finished putting her twin sons to sleep when the sound of her work phone ringing rang through the house. Sharon immediately made her way towards it, not surprised to see that the number on it was unknown.

"Hello. This is Sharon Forbes, how may I help you?"

"Always so formal, sis." the voice she has not heard in ages chuckled from the other side of the phone. When Sharon didn't say anything, Rebecca furrowed her eyebrows and frowned at Sharon's business card that was in her hands. "Sharon? Are you there?"

The brunette cleared her throat, "Yeah, sorry. It's good to hear your voice too. I'm sorry I didn't call ── "

Sharon didn't want to get her family stuck in the bullshit that came with being a Blackwell. She had her husband's last name and has not spoken to her siblings since she was in law school. She did everything in her power to forget her childhood. Rebecca understood that. Hell, she respected it. If she could leave she would.

"It's okay." Rebecca responded kindly, like she always did, "I'm not calling you so we could catch up. I'm calling because Reginald is dead. The funeral is in two days. I'm calling everyone else soon too and I know that some of them are probably going to be there. And if you aren't busy, I like for you to be there."

"I'll be there." Sharon assured her the second she stopped talking. "I'm driving myself there first thing after lunch."

The title of Number One always put a certain weight on her shoulders. It made her think she needed to take care of anyone. Almost up until a point when she forgot to take care of herself. That was why she left.

None of them really liked Reginald but he was one of the only people that was there with Rebecca after they left. So, her sister had every right to grieve. Plus, everyone in their family knew that she had a hard time dealing with death and losing people.

"Okay." she could hear the relief in her voice which was a huge contrast to the tension in it a few seconds ago, "I'll see you then."

LANDON BLACKWELL "EMPATH" NUMBER TWO

Spain was like a breath of fresh air for Landon. Not only was he able to travel like he always wanted to while also playing the sport he loved, but he was also as far away from the Blackwell Academy as he could get.

Sure, he missed his siblings and he wanted to go home but there was always something holding him back.

His phone ringing made him tear his gaze away from the view he had from his balcony. Landon's lips tugged into a grin when he saw it was only Rebecca and he immediately answered.

"Hey, Bex. Why are you calling me this late?" He chuckled, "Isn't it past your bedtime?"

He could practically heart her rolling her eyes on the other side of the phone. Yet, when she spoke up, her voice was serious and there was no annoyance or amusement in it. "I'm not calling you to chit-chat." she sighed and said, "Reginald is dead. I already called Sharon and she said she was coming to the funeral which is in two days."

The only thing that could top Landon's fear from coming back home was his love for his sister. She was always his best friend and has been with him through thick and thin.

After a few seconds of hesitating, he said, "I'm getting on the next flight to New York. I'll be there by the time of the funeral."

"Thanks, Lan." She sighed in relief.

REGINA BLACKWELL "HELLFIRE" NUMBER FOUR

It was impossible to get Regina Blackwell to answer her phone. With the amount of messages she received on social media on a daily basis and the amount of fan mail she got, her manager has blocked all unknown numbers from her phone.

She was the only one of her siblings that Rebecca could not contact.

Thankfully, Reginald Hargreeves was one of the richest men in the United States. So, his death was all over the news and social media by midnight.

This left a shocked Regina staring at the phone screen while her mind was filled with doubts. She had no idea if she wanted to come back.

But then again, seeing her family and the Umbrella Academy did not seem so bad. She was going to the funeral and was going to be gone the second it was over.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

MARCEL BLACKWELL "MOONY" NUMBER FIVE

Marcel never went too far. He was always somewhere near the Blackwell Academy, too afraid to leave New York. He still moved somewhere near the woods to explore his shape-shifting abilities more freely.

A big part of him was too emotionally tied to the place to get too far away from it. The other part was too scared to stay after all the shit he went through while growing up.

He was content with his job. Owning a bar had many prons but the biggest con was the fact that he had to drive half an hour to get home. When Marcel jumped onto his bed, his phone immediately started ringing.

He did not even bother to check who was calling him and immediately answered tiredly, "Hello?"

"Hey, Marcel. It's Rebecca."

Marcel immediately sat up, tiredness gone from his body, "Rebecca?"

The two of them were never the closest. But she was his sister and he loved her. Despite the fact that he never had the balls to visit her since he moved out of the Academy.

"Sorry to call you this late but I have some news. Reginald died a few hours ago."

He was a little taken aback at first. He always expected that the old monster was going to outlive every single one of them. He would be lying if he said he was sad. Marcel was more shocked than anything.

"What do you need?"

"The funeral is in two days. Sharon will be there tomorrow. I think you should be too."

"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow, then."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

ANNABETH BLACKWELL "FROSTBITE" NUMBER SIX

It was hard to get Annabeth to answer. Landon had told her that she finished med-school a few years ago and she was probably a surgical resident by this point. So, she was not that surprised when she called her four times before someone answered.

"Hello?" answered a male voice that Rebecca was sure did not belong to her sister.

"Hi?" her eyebrows furrowed, "I'm looking for Annabeth. Is she there? I'm her sister."

"Oh!" the guy exclaimed and then she heard him faintly yell out, "Doctor Blackwell, it's your sister!"

Rebecca heard Annabeth's voice faintly in the background and finally heard her clear voice a second later, "Hi."

"Hey, Annie." Number Three smiled to herself, "It's Rebecca."

"Oh, my God. Hey!" she exclaimed, "It's so good to hear your voice."

Rebecca stared at the mess of papers in front of her on the table and nodded, "You too. I promise I'm not going to keep you busy for long. I just want you to know that Reginald died and the funeral is in two days. I managed to get a hold of everyone except for Regina. And they are all coming tomorrow."

"Then I'm coming too." Annabeth told her with no hesitation, "I'd love to keep talking but I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye." Rebecca said and hung up the phone before letting out a long and tired sigh. She got ready to call the Hargreeves siblings, already knowing that the next few days were going to be messy.
