ON OCTOBER FIRST, 1989, forty-three women all around the world gave birth. That would not have been unusual if they had been pregnant when the day had begun.

Reginald Hargreeves and Clara Blackwell had a lifelong rivalry and made it a sort of competition. They adopted seven children and started to train them how to use their powers in a proper way. They wanted to see which team was better.

THE BLACKWELL ACADEMY FOR THE GIFTED AND THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY were nothing alike. Rebecca Blackwell has always thought that that was the result of their owners being complete opposites.

The hatred between Clara and Reginald has resulted in a life-long rivalry between the two academies. Yet after the death of Clara Blackwell, things changed drastically. The Blackwells trained with the Umbrellas from the age of sixteen and when they turned eighteen they immediately turned tail and ran as far away from the two neighborhood academies as possible.

Rebecca Blackwell, however, stayed. Clara had left the house to all of the children she had adopted so when they all turned eighteen they had every right to come live in it again.

With the powers of vampirism, Rebecca has also been cursed with immortality and the fact that she had to look fifteen forever. That made her unable to have a normal life like her siblings so she stayed at the Blackwell Academy and made an attempt at trying to find others with the same powers she had.

At the ages of twenty-nine, the Blackwell siblings and the Hargreeves siblings are brought back together by the death of Reginald Hargreeves.

Rebecca already thought it was going to be a boring funeral filled with fighting and bickering, until the first boy she ever loved comes back from the future and tells them that the world was ending in seven days.
