Chapter Thirteen: The Hunt

"What do you mean the Phoenix's aren't there!" I yelled at Damian, a warlock. I was having just about enough of all these soldiers failing me. Were they this sloppy and infuriating while my father sat on this throne. Have I not shown them enough that I am more powerful than them. Everyone is on edge including me. This is complete and utter chaos. No one agrees on anything and when we finally conjure up a plan like this one, higher ranking soldiers think they can question my authority and my intelligence. I'm sick of it.

"Well, none of our guards can get to that location you gave us. So they shouldn't be able to survive there." He shrugged like this wasn't a big deal. These council men were making me lose brain cells. They are idiotic. I gave them a simple plan, I told them how I got in there the first time and how they should proceed but they aren't understanding and I don't know how to make them. Even though my father forced me to go to each and every council meeting, I never had to make the end decision.

"They can you idiot!" I yelled rising from my chair causing it to scrape against the stone tiles. Creating a painfully irritating noise to fill each and everyone of our ears. I saw a few of the higher demons, like Azaroth grip the table. My father trusted them with more details then the regular warlocks, witches and goblins.

"Your Majesty, we cant get soldiers to that location. Do you have any suggestions?" He asked.

" If you and the recruits for this mission are too scared or weak, whatever the reasoning, this can't wait any longer I can just got there. I've been there before I can teleport myself." I sighed. The kingdom is barely being held together. My father didn't have to do this, he always sent me to do all the dirty work while he was collecting dust. However I don't want to be in charge of Hell. The sooner we find him the sooner I can pass this all back over to him. I don't like having to make all these decisions and I don't know how he deals with all of these council men. They are so infuriating it's mind boggling.

"How can we get backup to you, Dark Lord?" He said looking like he was about to poop his pants.

"I won't need backup. If I don't think I can get to him assuming he's there than I will return and I can try something else." There was this spell created hundreds of thousands of years ago. It contains the most advanced spells that most witches and warlocks are too afraid to even attempt. The tale has it that the last time someone used it they died within seconds of casting it. I'm powerful on my own, but I don't know if I'm powerful enough to fight off all of them.

"If I don't return in five hours activate the barrier spells." I told him. He bowed before turning and leaving.

"The barrier spells make it so no one can get in or out for a little over 10 moon cycles."

I slipped my cloak back on pulling the hood over my head. I sighed before chanting.....

"Transportal memor." My bearings shifted as I was hit ten times as hard by the feeling of nausea than usual.

I breathed in deeply as my feet made contact with solid ground.

I landed right in the middle of that tent that I was in that meeting for with the Phoenix's. The familiar tent where I put my trust in Jasper. I can't believe I'm saying it but I think my father was right about not trusting them. He was probably just using me and now is trying to use my father as leverage. Whatever it is I'm going to find out and end this.

I glanced around the empty tent and quietly made my way towards the flap.

I carefully opened a small crack in the opening and looked around. There were children running around chasing each other and a few adults over looking them. I didn't want to involve the children. It doesn't matter what species, they are the young and I can't hurt them. It wouldn't be right.

"Snack time babies." A younger woman called with a male phoenix standing beside her holding what seemed to be a baby Phoenix in his arms.

"Who are you?" A small high pitched voice asked me. I mentally cursed at myself for being so careless. How did I not realize there was a child in here.

"Hello, I'm a friend of jasper." I smiled at her hoping she bought the lie.

"Well Momma and Papa said it's snack twime!" She cheered running out of the tent towards her caregivers. We don't know much about Phoenix's but what I'm noticing is that they have two people who are in charge of all the young. At least they have people to take care of them.

"Hello daughter of Satan." I jumped and looked back to see jasper standing there holding a knife in his hand. "Now, I didn't think you'd come back, I mean I thought you hated him after all." He stated not hinting at any emotions.

"Where is my father?" I Questioned pulling the hood of my cloak down so it now rested on my shoulders.

"I'm not going to ask again." I snapped.

"He's not here anymore." He said lowering his knife. I studied his face and that's when he slipped up. He glanced to a different spot in the room before meeting my eyes again.

"I trusted you. I stood up for you and your people to my father. I was fighting for your people! And this is how you repay me!" I screamed at him. He took a cautious step back in fear now raising the rusty knife up again.

"You kidnap my father, threaten me! You better explain quickly with no lies or I will rip you and your community to pieces!" I yelled at him. Obviously I wouldn't hurt the kids, I'd never hurt a child but if I'm being attacked by liars and psychos like Jasper I won't have much of a choice.

"You wouldn't understand." He sighed dropping the knife to the floor.

"What would I understand?" I raised my eyebrow in question.

"She's making us do it, she's threatening all of us." He frowned looking me in the eye.

"How can I believe you and who is threatening you?" I had a bad feeling about this.

"Cora Lightwake. She claims to be your mother Laylah." He frowned looking up at me.

"I'll do the Unbreakable Swear." He pleaded. No one just offers to do the Unbreakable Swear. However, I wasn't going to take any chances with this. I nodded in agreement.

"I'm going to need you to hand over my father first." A frown etched its way onto his face at those words.

"She's planning on taking him in a few minutes she's probably on her way now. We were just supposed to get ahold of him for her."

"Why don't you guys fight? You guys are more powerful than you know." I asked. Why weren't they fighting for their independence? Why were they letting this psychopath control them. She's just a human they can easily contain and remove her.

"Well show me where he is."
