Take a Walk on the Wild Side

We arrive in New York City at 6PM but are delayed at the airport when Paul is stopped by customs. After about twenty minutes he appears, "they didn't want to let me in because my luggage is a cardboard box, I just have clothes in it but they didn't understand why I don't have a suitcase." I couldn't help laughing, that was Paul, a dimwitted lad. But charismatic all the same.

I was filled with excitement when we drove into Manhattan, looking up at the tall structures filled with light and life. We check in at the Iroquois hotel, a very beautiful building. Of course Mr. And Ms.Strummer have a room for themselves, this makes me anxious.

We're alone in the neatly decorated room, one matrimonial bed between us. It is silent for a couple minutes, nothing but the sound of us accommodating our things around the room, until he faces me,
"Do you wanna go explore the city with us? Our first gig is tomorrow evening, we can stay out tonight."
I hesitate a bit, "uh No thanks, I'm kind of tired."
"Oh come on, you're too young to be tired...take a walk on the wild side."
I can't help smiling and slightly flushing, that used to be "our song."

"Couldn't be any more fitting than now, could it?" I laugh.
"It could"
"How?"
"If you were my darling."
"You're never giving it away now will you?"
He responds with a beautiful smile, almost a chuckle, my heart feels warm. Here we are again with our inside jokes, things other people wouldn't understand; as if it was 1977.

And so I find myself in a cab between Mick and Paul, Joe riding on the front seat. They had actually argued for about 15 minutes over who would sit where because they all wanted window seats. Mick wanted the front one especially, having the best view, but Joe wasn't having it. Just like being with stubborn children.
