The death
As she looked at his horror-struck face,
it was as if something inside of her died again.
It was as if she broke him,
and she felt like telling him,
I'm sorry, a million times over.
She never thought,
she never knew,
she was the one grounding him.
But as she got to realize, she wondered how she missed it.
She felt her heart shatter.
Saving him from physical pain,
just seemed to cause more emotional pain,
more than physical scars could.
She had to let him see her smile,
try to remind him to ground himself on his own,
this time.
Going against staying together forever broke her,
but she knew,
her life was always limited.
She spent the years with him,
and while it was fun and loving,
it was time for her to go into the world below the ground.
Say goodbye for the last time,
this time around.

A monster hit Annabeth and it felt like the end to Percy. He did not know what to say, except killing every one of the monsters ganged up here. Rage built up and he whipped around with Riptide destroying every single one like a whirlwind of destruction. His face was contorted into anger and worry for his wise girl.
The monsters ran away. Percy stopped, panting slightly. Despite his tiredness, he was never too tired to not take care of her. Walking over to her, he felt tears prickle at the corners of his eyes. Annabeth wiped them away with her hand. To him, he thought she looked pretty even with the blood covering her body. He knelt over her and said," Please don't leave me". Annabeth sighed hear heart heavy and replied, "I'm sorry, I really am, but it's time for me to go. I would save you a million times over." He tried again," weren't we supposed to be always and forever?" said Percy tears slipping out of his eyes. She replied, "just let me go. You know I'll go to Elysium and wait for you seaweed brain." Percy's tears were flowing even more freely now. His heart was sinking and he felt like he was drowning. She added as aforethought," don't let anyone forget about me".
He replied," You know, out of all my friends I never thought you would be the second one to leave". She kissed him straight on the lips the last one Percy would ever get before he died. He added to bring a smile to her lips," I'll never forget you, you're a part of me that I never thought I would get." She smiled, and it was as if the blood was not covering her. Then her spirit was picked up by Thanatos and the ghost of her last smile lay upon her eyes.
Percy's tears cascaded down his face like a waterfall. He called blackjack who understood the situation immediately and folded his wings around Percy as if to hug him. Percy appreciated the gesture. They headed off to CHB. Percy had no idea what to say to them, all the demigods who thought of her as an idol, Chiron who thought of her as a daughter, and Thalia and Piper who thought of her as their sister.
Reaching CHB he stepped through the barrier of his second home and walked to the big house. Trying to get himself ready for the talk that was sure to come. He readied himself even though he knew in his heart he would never be ready to talk about Annabeth's death.
