Chapter 1

"No!" I yell as I shot my head up and see that I'm in my room, not the fire pit of death. I move my shaky fingers through my hair, feeling it wet from sweat. I move my knees to my chest and start to hug them, the same nightmare I've been having for two years now, a demon taking me to Hell... What did he want with me? And why did he call me Bellatrix? "Bad dream?" I hear as I turn my head to see Sky, my Karelian bear dog looking at me. "Did I wake you up Sky?" I ask as he starts to scratch his ear. He stops and shakes his head making his ears go back a bit. "Don't you always?" I hear in my head as Sky gets up and stretches before he walks over to me and lays his head on my lap.

I start to pet him slowly, taking in the time I have with him. Sky is a different kind of Karelian bear dog, his pure black. Normally, this kind of dog is black and white, but that's why I picked Sky, because his different, just like me. "I'm sorry I woke you, I should have been nicer." I say as I stop petting him and get out of bed. "It's not your fault." I hear as I turn to see him tilt his head giving me his puppy dog look. I do a small laugh, "I'm going to take a shower, I'll be out in a bit." I say and walk to my bathroom. Before I closet the door, I look back at Sky to see him back to asleep on my bed. I roll my eyes, "You put up such a big fight for me waking you up and you just fall right back to sleep." I say which makes him growl. I giggle as I close the door and turn on the shower.

I don't know why I can talk to animals, or do some of the weird things that I can do, like hear people's minds. I think that's the worse one, I don't want to hear what people are thinking, or what they think when they see me. I put my head on the cold shower wall, feeling the hot water go down my back. I learned I could hear people's thoughts when I was five.

It was two days before my twin sister Alice and I's fifth birthday and I couldn't wait. I was the first year where my mother wasn't going to dress us up in matching dresses. Her first thing in life was to embarrass Alice and me, and that was by dressing us up in matching outfits. I wonder if she did this because we didn't look like twins. Alice had long blood red hair that matched her green eyes, in her words; she was the true version of an Irish girl. I on the other hand have long blonde hair that just keeps growing and I have dark violet eyes. I looked nothing like Alice and she looked nothing like me, but yet, we're twins. And on that day, I found out that we weren't alike at all. That day, we decided to sneak down stairs to see if mother had gotten us anything for our birthday, she wanted a new American Girl doll while I wanted the first edition of Edgar Allan Poe poems. Even at a young age I liked the dark and strange things.

We knew our mother was hiding so we wouldn't catch her in the act of wrapping our gifts. "Where do you think she is?" Alice asks, her pink painted hands holding on a small doll she got last year. I shrug and was about to say I don't know when I heard her voice. Oh they will look so cute in these! I her and I knew it was my mother's voice. I don't know where it was coming from. "I think I hear her." I say which makes my sister look at me in a weird way. "I don't hear anything. What is she saying?" She asks. I close my eyes and listen again. Twin dresses! Oh I can't wait for the pictures of them in these! I hear which makes me open my eyes and run to the kitchen. "Harley!" I hear behind me but I just open the door in the kitchen to see no one there.

I hear Alice join me as the other kitchen door opens and my mother walks out. She looked just like my sister, but her red hair was shorter and not as red but they had the same green eyes. Our mother, Roisin O'Heir was one of the best chiefs in the world, and also the best mother in the world. She raised Alice and me ever since our father died, she never really talked about him, but my mother says that I'm more like him in more ways than one. "Alice, Harley, what are you two doing? Trying to figure out what I'm getting you for your birthday?" She asks with a giggle. Alice starts to shake her head knowing we were caught but I was too upset at what I heard, "You got us matching dresses again!" I yell which makes my mother's eyes widen. "What!?" Alice asks even more upset then me. I watch as my mother walks over to us and gets to my eye level and grabs my shoulders lightly. "Harley, how did you know that?" She asks, her voice creaking.

"I... I heard you say it... On the phone?" I say confused on why she was worried about. I see my mother cover her mouth as she looks at me and then at Alice, "Alice did you hear mommy on the phone?" She asks and Alice shook her head, "No mommy." She whispers. My mother took a sharp breath before she stood up and walked away. I looked at Alice, "What do you think that was about?" She asks and I wanted to tell her but I didn't want her to think I was crazy so I just shrugged and walked to my room, we never talked about it again. Two years later, Sky started to talk to me, and I could understand him, another secret I kept from my family.

"Harley! You're using up all the hot water! I have to go to work today too you know!" I hear snapping me out of my memoires. "Sorry Alice!" I yell as I turn off the water and quickly put a towel around my head and waist. I open my door to have a chocolate cupcake with a single candle light on top. "Happy 21st birthday twin!" I hear Alice scream with a bright smile on her face. I giggle as I pull her in for a hug, "Happy birthday to you too, sorry I didn't make you a cupcake." I say as I pull back. She rolls her eyes as she grab a cupcake off my nightstand and hands it to me, "You did."

I giggle as I light her candle and we switch cupcakes, "Blow out the candle and make a wish." We say together and blow out the candle together. Alice takes a bite of her cupcake and smiled, "Vanilla, my favorite you know me so well." She says and licks some frosting off her lips. "Oh I know." I say as I take my finger and take some of my frosting off and stick it in my mouth. "This is really good, mom would be proud." I say and watched as Alice's smile goes down, "Yeah... She would." She whispers.

I quickly grab her free hand, "Hey, she's still with us, in here." I say and raise her hand and place it over her heart which makes that makes that smile come back. "Thanks Harley." "Anytime. So, I see you lied to me and you already took a shower." I say as I push past her. "Well, duh, I had to surprise you, you're hard to surprise, it's like you can see into the future or something." She says as she sits on my bed and pets Sky.

"She's close you know." Sky says to me taking the loves form Alice. I glare at him as I open my closet and look for an outfit for work today. I was one of the head writers for Seattle's best magazine and Alice was of course a model, she wanted me to join her, she says that twin models were highly wanted but I had to remind her that we look nothing alike, plus who wants to see a model with violet eyes? She wanted me to wear blue contacts but, I just couldn't do it, I like my eyes, I like that I'm different and she understands that.

"We're still going out tonight right?" Alice asks and jumps off the bed. I nod as I pick out a cute sundress that ties in the back. "Yes, Dove and Tullia said we have to meet them that new club downtown." I say as I put on the dress and look at Alice and model it for her, "So? Yes or no?" She tiles her head, "Is that just for work or are you wearing that tonight too?" She asks making me drop my arms and glaring at her, "For work." I say with a tone. "Then fine, but tonight you need to wear something way more sexier than that, that screams I'm a good girl you need to wear something that screams I'm a good girl gone bad!" She says and starts to tickle me.

"Stop it Alice!" I scream as she stops and laughs at me, "Why do I need to wear something like that? I am a good girl." I say as I put my hair in a side pony with a ribbon. I feel Alice's arms go around my shoulders, "Because it's our 21st birthday, so we can get more free drinks form guys if you act like a bad girl." She says as she slaps my ass and walks out of my room. "Alice!" I yell but she just gives me wink before closes the door and quickly says, "See you tonight!" I roll my eyes and I look back at the mirror and put on some make-up.

"She's right you know." I hear as I look in the mirror and behind me sitting on the window seal is my sister's Khao Manee cat Jewel. "Jewel, when did you get into my room?" I ask as I finish putting on some mascara just enough to make my eyes pop more. "I'm wondering the same thing." I hear Sky growl. Jewel is Alice's cat, and she named her that because one of her eyes is a dark blue while the other is a green cat eye, but they look amazing with her white fur. Jewel jumps off the window seal and walks over to Sky rubs her tail under his nose which just pisses him off more.

"I'll kill you damn cat!" Sky growls as he gets into his attack from. I watch as Jewel hisses and take she claws out. "Both of you stop! I'm not having you two fight before I go to work. I'm already stressed because Margo wants me to go on this huge report when I go into work and I don't even know what it is." I say as I turn to them glaring which makes them stop. "Sorry Harley." Sky says and lowers his head. I nod as I see Jewel moves away from Sky and looks at me, "I do love that dress, it makes your eyes pop." She says and starts to lick her paw to clean her fur. I look back at the mirror taking a good look at my eyes before I start to put red lipstick on, "I have to go, I'll see you guys after work." I say and quickly grab my purse. "Oh Harley." I hear as I stop and look at my pets. "Happy birthday." They both say together which makes me smile, "Thanks guys love you." I say as I run down stairs and head to work.
