Light x Reader: "She can't hurt you."

~ Your point of view ~

"Settle down class," The teacher instructed from the front of the room, meanwhile the room still was chaotic. Teenage boys we jumping over desks and throwing pencils at each other, and the girls in the front of the room were arguing over whose boyfriend is the best.

"Woah, did you see that?" Isas' face was in shock as he was able to flip over four desks without the his feet touching the ground.

"New record!" Hisoka high-fived his friend who was now gleaming with excitement.

"Class." The teacher said again, this time more firmly.

"Hiromasa is not even that smart, Dai." Anzu pointed to a dark haired boy who was attempting to beat the new record, but tumbled and ending up falling off the desk.

"Shut up, you don't even have a boyfriend." Dai's eyes squinted as she defended the boy.

"Yeah I do." Anzu responded, her high pitched voice bringing nothing but annoyance.

"As much as you like to fantasize, Light is not your boyfriend." Dai crossed her arms.

"I will call the administration." The teacher taunted the class.

"Every single day." The brunet boy who sits next to me twirled his pen between his fingers.

"Tell me about it." I rolled my eyes and anxiously tapped my feet together. The scores of the recent test were right in the teacher's hands, the pages being crumbled from the white-knuckled grip of anger.

"But we are perfect for each other," Anzu closed her eyes and hugged her chest, "he's intelligent and wants nothing less than a perfect woman who will stand by him, such as myself."

"Aye, Anzu?" The girls attention snapped towards me, "How about instead of daydreaming about hopeless romance, you and your friends sit your pretty little selves down so class can start?"

"Excuse me? My dating life is a lot less hopeless than yours." Anzu's face darkened with a reddish tint as she let her arms fall down to her sides.

"Please, all you do is talk about Light, but you never actually talk to him. I mean, the fella is right here?" I gestured towards the brunet.

"Don't talk about Light to me, he hates you and because of that, so do I." Anzu snapped at me.

"First of all, I do not hate (Y/n). Second of all, you and me," Light waved his finger between Anzu and himself as he shook his head, "are not perfect for each other."

"You hate her-" Anzu pointed to me.

"No, I do not." Light sighed.

"But you are enemies-" The girl chimed in.

"Mere academic competition." I said flatly.

"You two are always fighting-"

"No one else is really a challenge." Light muttered under his breath.

"Ms. Anzu, please sit down or I will call the administration office and have someone escort you to head office." The teacher snapped and dropped the papers on his desk.  Everyone quickly rushed to their seats, sitting in perfect posture.

"Finally, we can get started. I have graded yesterday's tests, and can say I am extremely disappointed. There is no reason that I should have to cancel today's original plans so that all but two students can do extra work for a re-test," The teacher leaned back against the front board, "this is completely unacceptable. All you children do is mess around and don't any of your work,  and your parents have been notified that the retake is going to be Saturday, and that you all must attend if you do not wish to fail."

"We don't have school on Saturdays anymore, so I'm not going." Anzu complained and slapped her hands on her desk.

I rested my chin on fist and responded dully, "Do you wish to fail?"

Anzu snapped her head around, "Do you wish you had friends?"

"If they are going to be anything like you, then no." I smiled sweetly at her.

"At least people like me." She stuck out her tongue and turned to face Light, she batted her fake eyelashes at the boy, "You like me, don't you? That was just a joke earlier, you're too kind to break Y/n's heart."

"How about you go down to the administration's office?" The teacher looked up as he finished scrawling something on a piece of paper.

"You're joking." Anzu scoffed.

"And you're not disruptive." The teacher placed the paper on the desk.

"But Y/n started this whole thing! This isn't even fair." Anzu crumpled the paper in a fist as she stormed out the door.

•~•~•~•~•

"You're a bitch." My head jerked back as ponytail was pulled.

"I didn't do anything." The back of my head was stinging, yet I kept my tone calm as the girl walked around me to look me right in the eyes.

"You embarrassed me in front of Light." Her fiery eyes contrasted the flurries that were falling down slowly around the school yard.

"You did that to yourself." I responded and crossed my arms.

"I don't even know how he can stand talking to you," She shook her head as white snowflakes landed in her black hair, "him and I are perfect for each other, yet he takes your side!"

"Are you ever going to accept the fact that Light does not feel the same way about you? The more you act like this," I gestured to the area around us, "the more you are making him dislike you."

"I'm not crazy." Her head twitched to side, her bangs hanging in her face.

"I never said you were?" I took a step back as the rest of the school year stopped to stare.

"Bet you're thinking that though, aren't 'cha?" A high pitched and shaky laugh roared from her throat.

"What's going on with Anzu?" Dai asked from several feet away.

"She's not acting right..." Hisoka

"No, Anzu. I don't think you're crazy. I think you are freaking insane." I swallowed my fear and looked the girl right in the eyes.

Anzu reached pulled a silver object that was concealed in the waist lining of her skirt, "You know, you may be right..." she twirled the metal in her fingers before sliding a switch and a blade flicked out.

"Anzu... This is not you." Dai took a step forwards, her hands up to show that she was a not a threat.

"You don't know me..." Anzu spat back as she caressed her the blade with her finger, a small thin red line appeared, "Good, it's sharp enough." She licked the blood off of her finger.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Isas' face reflected horror.

"Me? Nothing... A bitch just needs to understand when to back off." She smiled sweetly at the boy.

"I haven't done anything!" I expressed one final time, out of the corner of my eye I saw Light walking towards the commotion.

"Yes, you have and it's time for you to go." Anzu started towards me, the switchblade in the air and blood dripping down the length of her arm.

I dodged to the side right as she pounced. She quickly stood up and prepared for another attack. Her eyes began to fade as she lifted the switchblade and turned it around.

"What the...?" I murmured and in one quick motion she brought it to her neck. She immediately fell down and spazzed out before going completely still.

A teacher broke through the crowd, his eyes widened, "Ladies and gentlemen return to your homerooms immediately."

The crowds began to flood away, their bodies shaking, some crying and others were paranoid.

"Are you okay?" Light appeared by my side and put his hand on my shoulder.

"I thought she was going to kill me... Why did she turn it around at the last minute?" I mumbled as Light began guiding me towards the school.

"I don't know, you're safe now though. She can't hurt you." His voice sounded oddly protective as he opened the door with one hand and held me close to him by the other.

***A/n - So...

That was really bad.

I've been gone for a while.

Hello again my dear friends, how have you been? I hope all/any holidays went well! I am feeling a little better, but I am a bit rusty. So please bare with me, if there are any mistakes please don't go too harsh on me.

Also, if you didn't get what this had to do with Light, think about how convenient it was that Anzu did what she did shortly after Light appeared...

Love you all💕
