Part 11(ED)
*Yagami Residence*
Door Open..Door Close
"I'm home" Light called out as he just enter the house.
"Hello, Light" his mom greeted him as he went and took off his shoes.
*Upstairs*
Footsteps..Footsteps
Light made it to the top of the stairs and goes over to the door to the bedroom.
"Obviously he hadn't entered my room" he thought as there's a paper in the gap of the door.
*Bedroom*
"Who would be following me..."
Light just step inside the room, "Does this mean L is already starting to suspect the police?" he starts to think.
"Kira had accession information known only to the Task Force, so now he's suspect it's someone in the NPA" Light stated as he puts his bag down before sitting down at the desk.
"So, my father who heads the Task Force, has been put under surveillance too...he wouldn't use the Japanse police to probe the NPA" he continue to think.
"It's only been six days since the leak. I've been followed for two days...and I'm only a family member" Light noted.
"If he's gonna investigate the police, he'll need a lot of resources and manpower" he stated.
"Even if he has as many as 50 people on the case, I don't see how they could ever figure out that I'm Kira. I shouldn't look like anything other than your average high school senior. But the longer I let this person keep following me, the greater the chance is they'll figure out who I really am. Above all, I need my stalker's name. Once I figured it out, I can get rid of him for good" Light thought.
"I need to find out what my shadow's name is. If I can do that, it's all under control" he continue to think.
"So, what's the best way of getting his name without raising any suspicious?" Light whisper to himself.
"Light"
Mm?
Light turns his head to look at Ryuk, "I'm gonna let you in on a little secret" he started to say.
"What makes a shingami and a human who had a death note different?" Ryuk asked.
.
"There are two big differences between the two..." he continue to say as the two fingers were up on one of his hands.
"
Do you know why shingami write people's names into these notebooks?" Ryuk ask him another question.
"How would I know?" Light scoffed.
"It's because we are able to take humans life span for ourselves" Ryuk stated, making him suddenly interest by what the shingami just said.
"Huh? Wait, what do you mean by that?" Light questioned.
"Let's say you have a human who is due to live until the age of sixty. A god of death wrote that this person would die at forty. Sixty minus forty equals twenty. Now, those twenty years taken from someone in the human world are added to that god of death's life" Ryuk explained.
"So it means that as long as we don't slack off, even if some was to shoot us in the head, or stab us in the heart with a knife, a god of death cannot die" he inform the human.
"Well, we are gods or a sort, after all" Ryuk stated.
"I have seen shingami who died naturally, though...those who sat around doing nothing, living for centuries without remembering to write down a single human name..." he remembered.
Memories from over the years he had lived in the shingami realm.
"And I don't know what it is myself...but apparently, a way to kill a shingami does exist" Ryuk mentioned.
"I wonder what their weakness is..." Light thought.
"But anyway, shingami these days don't have feelings like I don't like this human or let's make the human world a better place or let's make it a worse place" Ryuk continue to say, stating this.
"Tell you the truth, the human would doesn't mean a thing to the shingami" he admitted.
"They just don't want to die, so they get life from humans, and then they just go with their own empty lives...The realm of the shingami hws really gone to the dogs these days
Nobody even knows what we're here for anymore" Ryuk tells him.
"Talk about a meaningless existence" he finishes saying.
"You're a real fool, Ryuk" Light remarked, which made the shingami instantly turned to him.
"What?!" he exclaimed in a huff, couldn't believe what this human just called him.
But Light brushed it off and continue to talk, "A shingami like you comes down in a hundred years...No, once in a thousand years, and the human world is transformed. Your existence...the realm of the shingami is so meaningful, it's scary and that's true in any age" he said.
..... ..... .....
"You...you think...?" Ryuk asked.
"If the place is really as gone to the dogs as you say, how about making some changes when you yo back? You know, apply some of what you're seeing here..." Light tells the shingami on what he should.
Laughs
"Light...I think you might actually be a real positive thinker" Ryuk complicated the human.
Laughs
"Of course I am. If I weren't an optimist, I wouldn't have thought I could make the world a better place" Light replied.
"But if you write humans' names into the Death Note, Light, you won't get any extensions on your life span" Ryuk stated a important fact for him to remember, which he wasn't surprise of hearing.
"That's the first big difference between a shingami and a human with a death note" said Ryuk.
Hmm...
"This is way more interesting than that thing you told me earlier, Ryuk" Light commented with interested.
"Nobody knows this stuff about shingami" he stated.
"I know" Ryuk replied.
"The second difference between us might be more interesting to you, Light" Ryuk started to say again, perking the human interested.
"Though this has less to do with cutting it short" he added.
"What do you mean cutting it short?" Light questioned, wondering what he mean by that.
"We shingami look down on the world from our realm. To choose which human we'll write into our notebooks. There might be some preferences involved. But usually, it's just whoever your eye happens to land on" Ryuk explained.
"Shingami can tell what the person's name, just by looking at them. And do you know how?" he continue to say.
"How?" Light pressed, wondering what the secret behind how they can know their victim names.
"
Because through a shingami's eyes, a human name's and lifespan can been by them above your head when we look at you" Ryuk confessed.
Making Light eyes widened in both shock and disbelief.
"Their name and lifespan?" he repeated, making sure he hear right.
"That's right" Ryuk confirm with a nod of his head.
"
I'm able to see your name and life span right now. Shingami always know the name of the person they're killing and how much extra life they'll get if they kill them" he tells him.
"Our eyes are different. That's the big difference between you and me" Ryuk stated.
"
If I converted that to the human time I could tell you how many years you got left. But there's no way I'd ever tell you that. I may have a big mouth but even I wouldn't go that far" he continue to say.
Laughs
"However, there's a deal. A traditionally, shingami who drop their death note can only make with the human who picks it up" said Ryuk.
"A deal..." Light thought, wondering what this shingami can offer him.
"He can grant that human the eyes of shingami, but only if a deal is made, one that has been with us since ancient times" Ryuk claimed.
!
"And what's the deal?" Light ask the shingami, who suddenly smiled.
"The price for having the shingami's eyes..." Ryuk started to say.
"
...is half of that person's remaining life span" he announced.
"Half of my, remaining life span?" Light repeated.
"Yeah. In other words. If you are supposed to live another fifty years, it'll be twenty five. If it was one more year, then six months" Ryuk tells him.
"I see" Light replied, looking down at the floor in thought.
"It's a key part of the code that all shingami are bound by" Ryuk stated.
"I'll say this once more. Give me half your remaining life span, and I'll give you the shingami eyes" he tells him.
Light then smiled, "If I agree, I'll be able to know everyone's name just by looking at them. If I had that power, the death note would only be easier to use" he stated with a laugh
"So, what'll be, Light" Ryuk started to say .
"Is it a deal?"
