Kokonoe: Not much is known about the past of Reimu Hakurei. Some suggest that Reimu is an orphan abandoned by her parents, or that she's the latest in a long line of Shrine Maidens. But what we do know about Reimu is that she's the shrine maiden of Hakurei Shrine and is always trying to preserve a peaceful and quiet life. As a Shrine Maiden, she is tasked with resolving incidents that threaten Gensokyo's peace.
Junko: And using just the right amount of power to do so! Seriously, this chicks really strong.
Kokonoe: Despite having no real training, she's capable of going toe-to-toe with other girls like her friend, Marisa. She's also stronger than most youkai of Gensokyo, like Megumu Iizunamaru whose primary ability is to manipulate stars.
Ann: She fought Suika Ibuki, who could shatter heaven which is similar in size to hell... which is endless. She also fought Toyosatomimi no Miko who created Senkai, an infinitely expanding world.
Neptune: And and, she defeated Kaguya Houraisan, who created the infinite corridor connected to Eitei! Which was made by infinitely linking gaps in space-time together!
Junko: She's also super fast!
Junko: She's capable of dodging and weaving through incoming danmaku patterns and could react to Aya Shameimaru's camera before she could take a picture.
Kokonoe: She even raced against and caught up to the Palanquin Ship, which could fly to the edge of the infinitely-sized Makai. On top of that, she flew across Kaguya's corridor in a short period of time. Said corridor is stated to be endless and infinite on multiple occasions.
Neptune: She's traveled from the Lunar Capital to the Sea of Tranquility in a few hours... which are on opposite sides of the moon!
Ann: She's also fought other characters who've reacted to and used light-based attacks like Marisa Kirasame and Yukari Yakumo. She should scale above common Moon Rabbits, which use the Dream World as a common passageway that contained interstellar distances.
Kokonoe: Her durability is nothing to scoff at either.
Kokonoe: She can fall from high places without a scratch on her. And she was just fine after a rocket she was in crashed into the moon's ocean.
Junko: Wait, the moon has an ocean?
Neptune: She held her own against Watatsuki no Yorihime, though she still lost in the end. But she can still tank hits from the denizens of Gensokyo and beyond!
Ann: Her main weapon is her Gohei.
Ann: Otherwise known as the Purification Rod, originally owned by Rinnosuke. It's her primary weapon for up-close combat. If she wanted to put some distance into her attacks, she always has her Yin-Yang orbs.
Ann: A pair of that aid Reimu in battle as her main weapons. They can be used as projectiles and even communication devices.
Kokonoe: They also help her fire Danmaku.
Junko: A type of energy bullet that acts as her main projectile. They come in many forms such as Ofunda cards, needles, barriers, and so much more.
Kokonoe: Finally she's got the Ultramarine Orb Elixer. A medician created by Eirin Yagokoro. It temporarily removes the impurity of death and allows her to experience the immediate future, letting her dodge attacks she already knows will come.
Neptune: And then we get to her Ability Cards!
Neptune: Special cards that grant Reimu active abilities, passive perks, or additional items for battle. They can grant her an increase in power, heal her, or just give her more money.
Ann: She can also use them to summon other weapons like Marisa's laser, Sakuya's knives, Sanae's amulet that shoots exploding frogs and snake bullets, Youmu's phantoms, Alice's dolls, Cirno's ability to scatter ice shards, Okina's ability to unlock the door in one's back, Nue's ability to summon UFO's, and Misumaru's ability to summon a magatama.
Kokonoe: She also gains abilities like Yukari's ability to warp around, Sukuna's ability to turn projectiles into money, Tenshi's ability to throw a stone that creates a shield and erases projectiles, Clownpiece's ability to hurl a fake moon towards her opponent, Toyosatomimi no Miko's ability to thin out bullets with her authoritative aura, Remilia's ability to deal fatal damage with a fang at short range, and Utsuho's ability to burn everything to ash. She can also wipe away close-range projectiles and reflect projectiles as well.
Ann: She can create barriers for a variety of uses, offense, defense, support, etc.
Kokonoe: Reimu is incredibly well-versed in the use of barriers, having an in-depth knowledge of how they work that allows her to analyze and take down barriers that not even Marisa or Patchouli can understand with ease, such as the Netherworld's barrier. As she explains to Marisa, a barrier acts as a border between things. On top of using them for protective purposes, Reimu can also utilize them as attacks, opening them up at short distances to injure her opponents and knock them back.
Ann: Speaking of knocking back, she has Spell Cards. One of them notably called... Bomb.
Ann: A type of spell card that causes Reimu to releases a wave of energy from her body to knock back her opponent. It can also be used to destroy incoming projectiles if she's ever in a pinch.
Kokonoe: She's also capable of summoning... sorta.
Kokonoe: She can invoke the power of different gods into her body. She channeled the power of the god of three-part god of voyages, Sumiyoshi, into her body which took some preparation. However, she also channeled the powers of Oomagatsumi into her body without any preparation. The strongest God she can channel is Ama no Iwato Wake no Mikoto, who can manipulate the fundamental boundaries between everything and the conceptual borders that exist between two things. It's been stated that without boundaries, everything would exist as a singular, massive object, not unlike the state that the world was in before God's separated everything by giving names and concepts to them.
Junko: She can also summon Kanayamabiko no Mikoto to create palladium alloy, and likely other metals as well. Too bad she doesn't have too much practice in it, which is why she's not that good at it. But she can make portals.
Junko: Well, she's more tearing open gaps in reality for transportation but I don't see the difference.
Neptune: She has a bunch of skills. Some of them let her fire homing attacks at her enemies or overwhelm them with a bunch of projectiles.
Kokonoe: But her most powerful skill of all... is her ability to float.
Neptune: Wait... that's it? There's a bunch of people who can fly! What makes this chick so special?!
Kokonoe: Well, she's not just flying. While flight is widespread among inhabitants of Gensokyo, Reimu's ability extends beyond that, encompassing not only more complex techniques but her behavior in life. She merely casually floats through life and is so in touch with her surroundings that she has been likened to a hermit. As long as she "goes with the flow," she showcases both incredible intuition and luck.
Junko: She's been observed to dodge attacks as if she were made of air, while, from her perspective, the projectile swerved away from her, and she has walked across a river unknowingly without getting wet by stepping on fish as they leaped from the water. More notably, it allows her to accomplish things such as circling an enemy by moving in a straight line, appearing from the least probable places with no real reason, on top of teleporting short distances.
Ann: But it gets even more broken once she uses Fantasy Nature, which literally makes her completely intangible! She's able to float through anything whether that be reality or even life itself! It's so broken it was considered too powerful for use as a spell card until Marisa Kirisame gave it a name and time limit in the Spell Card Rules to make it fair for everyone else!
Neptune: She has other powerful Spell Cards too. With Dream Sign (Duplex Barrier) she can turn space inside out! Restricting her opponent's movement while firing danmaku at them!
Ann: With Divine Spirit {Fantasy Seal} she can overwhelm her opponent with numerous amounts of homing bullets that ignore the laws of physics! With Spirit Sign {Fantasy Seal}, she can fire large rainbow-colored orbs at her opponent that explode upon contact! And with Dream Sign {Evil-Sealing Circle}, she can trap her opponent with two barriers that strangle its target!
Junko: She can use the Divine Arts {Omnidirectional Oni-Binding Circle}, where she creates an expansive barrier beneath her opponent's feet. It's normally used for binding youkai, but it works on humans just as well. She also normally uses it when he's angry.
Kokonoe: Reimu can create a circular field around her palm, create a giant ying-yang orb made from spiritual energy, or even slam the ground beneath her creating a barrier that expands outward.
Ann: She has one move that's... Untitled {Flying Mysterious Shrine Maiden}. A desperation spell card Reimu only uses when she's unconscious... it fires omnidirectional danmaku in a beautiful pattern.
Kokonoe: And Divine Spirit {Fantasy Seal -Blink-}, where she surrounds her opponent with slow-moving Ofuda cards coming toward her target in a blink of an eye.
Junko: There's Divine Arts {Omnidirectional Dragon-Slaying Circle}, where Reimu surrounds herself in a giant barrier that damages anyone in proximity. It's pretty good against dragons.
Neptune: Yeah, she has a lot of things in her arsenal and if we go over all of them, we'll be here all day. So I'll end it off with one of her other powerful abilities and her Last Words... *To Think There'd be a Shrine Maiden in That Gap*! Reimu traps her opponent with numerous barriers, damaging them before Reimu flies out from a gap and strikes her foe!
Junko: But while she's incredibly powerful, she's not the strongest in her show and has lost battles before.
Junko: Yeah, due to Spell Card rules, Reimu's spell cards have a time limit as to how much she can use them. This is essentially why she can't spam Fantasy Nature in battle... though this isn't a problem when using Death Battle rules.
Kokonoe: She also hasn't completely mastered the ability to summon gods. This is because she's simple-minded and lazy, rarely doing any real training to unlock her true potential.
Neptune: Still, she's really strong for a lazy chick! There's a reason I refused to be in this Battle Royal!
Ann: Is it because she gave you a weird armpit fetish?
Neptune: And that's only one of them!
Reimu: I am the shrine maiden of paradise, Reimu Hakurei! I'll protect the Barrier, no matter what!
(Note: Due to our rule of wanting everyone at their best, we will not be using Spell Card Rules for Reimu in this Death Battle)
