Chapter 4
Honeypaw's eyes fluttered open.
Moonlight shone from a hole in the hollow tree, blinding her pale green eyes. She expected a chilly breeze to sweep the clearing, but as she trotted out of the apprentice den there was none. The earth was softer than it usually was and was lacking pawprints from generations ago.
She assumed Sunpaw, Chestnutpaw and Hollypaw were out on a patrol. Honeypaw didn't think much about it when she noticed they were missing. The camp was empty, isolated, desolate.
A figure loomed on top of the Brackenrock. Almost sighing in relief, she glanced up at the shape she thought to be Goldstar. She was taken aback as she realised it was the small figure of a kit. It had pale, tawny fur with splotches of cream on its pelt. The kit rested its gaze on the tabby she-cat, after staring at the cloudless sky.
"Honeypaw" The kit meowed.
Honeypaw was taken aback by the kit's voice. Its masculine voice seemed to belong to a young warrior, not a scrawny lump of fur.
When Honeypaw said nothing, he spoke again, "I am Finchkit, I must warn you of the danger to come"
The word danger was a wake-up call to the dazed apprentice. Snapping back to attention, she questioned, "What kind of danger?". The fear was evident in her tone.
"I mustn't tell." Finchkit replied, his amber eyes pools of sympathy, "But I can tell of a prophecy"
"Two connected shall awaken death. One neglected shall put them to rest. A-"
"Honeypaw" A soft voice called. Not now Acorncloud!, Honeypaw thought, frustrated.
"...emerge from the mess" Finchkit finished. Before Honeypaw could look blankly at him, her eyes opened once again to Acorncloud's excited face.
Author's note: Short chapter, I know. I realised my previous chapters weren't of the best quality so I read "I guide to creating a warriors fanfiction" by LightningStrikeTC. I highly recommend it because it made me realise my errors and ways to improve. I hope this was exciting enough though!
Happy reading!
