Cassie and Mortem stared out onto the new land for eternity.  The pitch-black sky was close to being covered by all of the ebony clouds.  Smoke from far factories rose up to these clouds.

Susan stumbled through the portal.  A grim shadow covered her eyes.  Cassie's heart slammed the pit of her stomach.

"He's dead,"  Susan wiped a blood-red tear.

WHAT?  Mortem dropped his jaw,  HE'S DEATH!  HE CAN'T DIE!

"Azrael killed him," Susan sighed, "Azrael can kill anyone."

WHO IS THIS AZRAEL DUDE ANYWAYS?

"Death told me that he's the Death of Universes.  I don't understand it either," Cassie bit her lip.

"You have most of it, Cassie.  Azrael is also Death's Discworld boss.  I think he created him too.  Azrael can easily wipe out all Deaths just by exhaling on this very world."

Cassie shuddered.  She just managed to get the horrible image of the scythe going through Death's limp body out of her head.  The most horrifying part was the blueish-violet smoke that was sucked out of his body when the sickle went completely through him.  Cassie wrapped her arms around Mortem and whimpered.

Susan took a deep breath.  "We must go.  Whos knows what comes next.  All I know that this is not earth, and it doesn't look exactly welcoming."  She studied her surroundings and appeared as if she just realized the meaning of life.  "This IS Earth.  This is just what's left of it when Azrael brought us to the new dimension.  He was destroying it."

Cassie dropped her jaw,  "NO!  It can't be!  How!?"

Susan stepped to the edge of the cliff to get a better view, "There may be some survivors, but we'd have to check."

Mortem unfolded his raven wings, Susan took off her shawl to unfold them as well.  

"Hey!  Why don't I get wings?"  Cassie appeared disappointed.

Susan blinked.

Mortem chuckled, YOU HAVE TO EARN THEM, SWEETHEART.

(Authors Note:  Oh!  I apologize if it's been so long since I last updated this!  I got so booked up on school work and stress.  I'm losing inspiration for this wonderful series.  I want to keep this up so that when I finish this, I can make a better version of the first novel.  Just bear with me, because I may only update once a month.  Only time will tell.  I love you guys ❤️)
