My dusty Landon,

I chuckled writing that little endearment. It seems like forever since you went to the mines. My mother has come to help me at the house. Did you know the company continues to send a portion of your check here. I didn't think they would considering what happened. All of California has been consumed by the ocean. A catastrophic earthquake destroyed everything. The president has sent aid to try and find survivors. The odds are not good. We have been praying and hoping that maybe it's not gone like they say. Again the media is only showing us bits and pieces.
Have they said anything about it down there?
