They fell asleep in each others tearful arms.
It was a hard thing to do, for Bucky. He was telling the person he loved most in the world all of the awful things he had done.
She however chose not to hold it against him.
She knew science, well the science of back in her day. Therefore she knew he wasn't in control of himself when everything occurred. He wasn't in the drivers seat.
Still they feel asleep, her in a strange new world, him just happy for her to be there.
She didn't know anything about this world, bar a few things. One, it was very modern, futuristic. Two, Bucky and Steve were miraculously there. Three, Howard was gone.
So when she woke up before Bucky that day, she gently moved out of his arms to get up and see out the window. When she looked out, she noticed the heights of the building around her. Then the streets, filled with people and yellow cars.
New York is a lot different than she remembered.
The next thing she noticed was the clothes she was wearing. They weren't hers, she doesn't even know where her clothes are but there decades old, probably not in style.
She had a grey hoodie that definitely too big for her, sweatpants that bagged on her. He was a lot taller than her anyway so that made sense. She was bare foot, feeling the cold of the hardwood floors beneath her feet.
She however decided to focus on the new view of her home city, not all the issues that she would have to deal with the issues that would arise once she turned her eyes away.
She did hear a noise from behind her that came from the bed, not thinking too much of it, until she heard a sleepy voice.
"Sofia?" He groaned, sitting up in the bed.
"Hmm?" She mumbled, still taking in the view.
Once he finished rubbing his eyes to see clear, he noticing where she was stood. He totally forgot what a complete shock the modern day brings to someone who's never seen it before.
"Are you alright?" He asked, climbing out of the bed to approach her from behind.
"I'm okay, I'm alright. It's strange though.." She smiled, allowing Bucky to hold her from behind.
"Well I don't live here alone, there's a team of people outside. And I think they would want to meet my favorite person.." He smiled.
"A team?" She confusedly giggled, turning around in Bucky's hold to see his face.
"Well they sort of save the world, it's their job.." He smiled, placing a small kiss on her forehead.
What he had failed to mention was her inhuman abilities, she would become fascinated by it at a later date.
But he did make an attempt to find her some clothes that were clean for her. She think that's when he realized his entire wardrobe was comfy clothes, he should probably get something to wear that's not a hoodie.
Bucky's then genius idea was to go to the lost and found box that Tony's set up, for after his hook ups, and dig her out something reasonable.
In the end he could only find a pair of black jeans that looked as though they would fit her. He then decided that since the only tops available were cropped and sleevless, one of his hoodies would be a lot better.
The entire fashion statement of jeans was weird to her, I mean that's what Bucky told her there were called. She had seen them the night before, when driving home, so she was glad to at least but a name to the clothing object.
Once she finally was ready, Bucky held her hand tightly and walked her to the main living room, which conveniently had most of the towers residence sitting there chatting.
Bucky was sort of nervous as heads turned to see who the mystery brunette was, some already aware of her face. None the less, Bucky decided to introduce her as a complete stranger.
"Um guys, this is Sofia Lewis. The love of my life, my Sofia.." He smiled, lifting their connected hands and giving a little smile.
Immediately theturned heads stood up and introduced themselves. So many names that she didn't know how she would remember them all.
Until she heard one that stopped everyone.
"Tony, Tony Stark.." He said, doing the same hand shake with a smile another Stark she once knew did.
"As in Howard Stark?" She asked through the shake.
"Well yeah, he's was my dad.." He said, his smile going from playboy to awkward in a matter of moments.
"Huh, you act just like him.." She smirked, looking to Bucky for confirmation which he so happily proved.
"Normally people say you look like your parent, not act.." She replied.
"Howard was a great man, who slept with every women in sight bar me and Peggy Carter, Steve had her instead.." She sniggered.
"Good to have you back too Sofia.." Steve joked, although the message was sincere, he just wanted her to know he would get her back for it.
Bucky led her to a free chair, the only one, so she sat on his lap to hear the stories his friends told. She didn't even understand what half of them meant.
"So in the end," Sam said in hysteria, "Buck was dunked with ice water for the whole thing!" He laughed, well almost chocked, allowing the team to burst into laughter.
"Seems like you had fun while I was away.." Sofia smiled to him.
"I didn't really, I prefer you.." He said, quickly kissing her before returning to the conversation.
"Do you have any stories on our dear friend?" Natasha asked.
"Oh I have some stories-"
"Please no.." Bucky smiled, throwing his head back in embarrassment.
"I'll tell them a nice one. Once, Bucky showed up at my work to give me my lunch. Although they shouldn't let a clumsy person in a lab since he caused an explosion-"
"A minor explosion.." He corrected.
"James, there was a hole in the wall.." She giggled.
"I was giving you a window.." He giggled back.
"So wait, she can call you James, but I cant'?" Sam smiled before taking a sip of his beer.
"She's know me longer.." He laughed.
"And I'be seen him naked.." She added, having to hear Bucky gasp and laugh from behind her.
In the end however they did arrive back in Bucky's room to turn in for the night. At first they talked, well that went on for hours, until they got to the real stuff.
"Do you still wanna marry me, after all I've done?" Bucky asked, flopping his back onto the mattress and waiting for a response.
"Why do you even have to ask that dear?" She asked, snuggling in next to him.
"Because your still wearing your ring on a chain, not on your finger.." He said, looking down to her.
"You are genuinely an idiot.." She said, sitting up to look down upon him.
She pulled the necklace off, Bucky now joining her sat up and helping her with the ring, slowly pulling it into her finger.
"So you'll marry me?" He nervously asked.
"I said yes over 70 years ago and now i'm saying it again.." She smiled, leaning in to kiss him.
Maybe they should get used to the modern day before jumping into marriage, but there's no talking to them anyways.
