I hold the baby in one arm, while Red and I flip through a booklet, looking for a wedding cake.
"That one?" I ask, pointing to it and then looking over at Red.
"Sure," he says, smiling. "Your choice." He says and wraps an arm around me.
"Red," I groan. "We both know I can't choose this out myself." I say and stick my lower lil out slightly in a pouting manner.
He laughs. "I know," he says and rubs my arm up and down gently. "How about we make it three cakes high?" He asks, looking down at me.
"Vanilla filling?" I ask, looking up at him.
"How about vanilla cake with chocolate in the middle?" He asks.
I smile widely. "Of course." I say and wrap an arm around his torso, leaning my head against his shoulder.
"I love you," Red says, then turns his head to kiss the side of mine.
We order the cake, and once we get home, at the apartment Red and I rented out, Alesa shows up. She's going to be helping me pick out a dress.
"I'll see you later, Red." I say and kiss him before walking out the door and down to the car where Alesa is, waiting patiently.
"Hey, Alesa!" I say, smiling as I get into the car.
"Hey! You excited?" She asks as she begins driving off.
I sigh heavily. "Pretty nervous if I do say so myself." I say and look out my window.
"I know the feeling," she says, smiling a bit. "But hey. Adam will walk you down the aisle," she says, smiling widely.
I smile as well and nod then look at the radio. "Mind if I uhh - change it?" I ask, pointing at it and looking at her.
"Go ahead," she says, nodding a bit.
-
Before I know it, I'm walking out of the dressing room in a dress that has a low cut in the back and a layered skirt.
"I think," I look over my shoulder to see the back again. "I found the dress." I say shyly and smile as Alesa turns and her jaw practically falls to the floor.
"Oh my god - you look so beautiful!" She says and asks me to spin with one hand motion.
I twirl once, and then again, smiling as I do so.
"I'd post it on Instagram, but I don't want Red to see it. You look so beautiful. Oh my god," she says and takes a picture then sends it to Adam.
"Adam agrees," Alesa laughs.
I smile and go to get changed back into my street clothes before coming back with the dress. Alesa helped me pick out a pair of shoes, which fit perfectly.
Alesa and I both agreed that she'll hang onto the dress and shoes so Red doesn't try catching a quick sneak peek.
About fifteen minutes later, I'm walking back into the apartment - and now multiple people are here.
Him, Adam, Cass, Max, Ross and Cheese. They're all here.
"Uh - what are you guys doing here?" I ask cautiously.
Red looks at me and walks over.
"We got a death threat from an unknown number." He says softly.
"A - what-?" I ask but I did hear him perfectly fine.
"So we have to hold the wedding off. Just in case." He says softly.
I feel a lump form in my throat and I look at Jared then slowly take him and hold him.
"Who's the death threat to?" I ask softly.
"You." Red says softly.
I clench my jaw for a couple of seconds before handing Jared back to Red.
"We're going to California. Just until it dies down." Adam says softly.
I nod and look down.
-
Three weeks later, and we're flying to LA. Back to the city where Adam adopted me from.
"I miss them already," I practically whisper as I look at a selfie with me, Red and Jared.
"I know," Adam says softly. "But they'd be heartbroken if you were killed."
I nod slowly and shut my phone off then slouch in my seat, staring out the window.
"Hey," Adam says softly. "Keep your chin up. We're going to be back in Seattle before you know it."
And he was right. The whole couple of months we were gone seemed to fly by.
I rush through the gate as I get off the plane, abandoning my bag when I see Red.
"Red!" I shout, making some people stare. I could care less.
I run up to him and throw my arms around him. He does the same and spins me around.
"I missed you so much," Red whispers, his breath feathering over my ear.
"I missed you too," I say and squeeze him a bit tighter, not wanting to let go.
He picks me up, and I wrap my legs around him, squeezing my eyes shut as tears fill my eyes.
"Hey," Red says softly. "Don't cry." He says, running one hand up and down my back gently.
"Happy tears, Red," I giggle softly and squeeze my eyes shut.
Red tightens his grip a little bit and soon after, Adam shows up.
"Lets go, guys," Adam says and walks towards the doors to the airport.
Only a couple weeks later, everything I'd hoped wouldn't happen, happened.
"Red?" I call from the bedroom.
"What?" He calls back, from the living room.
"Where's Jared's pacifier? I can't find it." I say and walk to the entrance of the living room, where Red's organizing Jared's toys.
"I dunno, where'd you see it last?" He asks.
I point to the corner of the table and raise my eyebrows slightly.
"Can you help me find it?" I ask.
"I'm busy," he says as he picks up two more toys and tosses them into the toy box.
"You're always busy," I growl and turn away.
"You're the one who wanted a baby," Red says.
"You're the one who has wanted to have sex! It's okay he says, I brought protection he says." I say and look back at him.
"Well I'm sorry I didn't know the stupid condom would break!" He practically shouts.
I flinch when he yells.
"All you do is nag," he says and narrows his eyes a bit.
I shrink back a bit as he advances a little bit.
"Maybe we should call off the wedding then!" I snap back.
"Maybe we should," Red says and turns away.
Then just like that, I'm walking out, slamming the door shut behind me and clutching my phone in one hand.
"Adam? I need you to come pick me up."
No more fighting the tears.
I sit on one of the stairs outside and that's when the tears start falling. Falling, and they won't stop.
When Adams car pulls up, I jog over.
"Tee? What happened?" He asks.
"Red and I called off the wedding." I say and pull my knees up to my chest and bury my face into them.
"Wh-"
"Don't ask questions," I say softly. "Not now.."
