Getting rid of the triple numbers for the chapters lol

---

I glare at the doctor who just walked into my room for the millionth time today.

See, I don't like people who stick pokey things in my skin.

He did just that.

And I fucking hate this doctor now.

Adams not in the room right now, because he was asked to leave.

"How are you feeling, Tessa?"

Did he seriously just call my by my birth name?

And not ask a yes or no question?

I stare at him and raise an eyebrow, giving him my are you stupid? Look.

"Right. Sorry. Can't speak- on a scale of one to ten, ten being the worst, how bad do you feel?"

I hold up five fingers.

Not because I feel like shit right now. I just don't want to be here. I don't want fluids from some tube being injected into my arm so I can get the nutrients I need.

I also don't want blood being taken out of my body.

I have blood. My blood is supposed to stay in my body. Not stolen from some stupid needle thing.

I huff at him when he writes something down then looks back up at me.

"Would you feel better if I asked Adam to come back in here?"

I stare at him and raise an eyebrow.

That was a rhetorical question.. Right?

Apparently not.

I nod, raising my eyebrows and widening my eyes slightly, giving him that you're a fucking idiot Doctor look.

"Come on in," the doctor says, peering out the door and waving Adam in.

I smile when he comes into view and pulls a chair over then sits on it, beside my hospital bed.

"So you're 18.. From what we got back, you are underweight."

I roll my eyes at him and raise an eyebrow.

"You weigh 99 pounds, which for your age and height group, you should be about 123 pounds. We are running some blood tests as well, and at your m weight, you could have a possibility of having Leukemia."

At that word, I freeze. My whole body tenses up, and my heart skips a beat before it starts pounding in my chest.

Not that I care or anything, because I don't, but my mother had leukemia. So I guess I got it genetically.

I roll my eyes at the thought and look at my lap, that's being covered by the thin sheet on my bed.

Not to mention this mattress is hard as fuck.

I look back up at the doctor.

"But we won't be completely sure until the blood is finished testing. I'll come back in an hour or so with the results." He says then turns and leaves.

Adam sighs, and I see him place his face in his hands. "I'm so sorry.." He says softly.

I furrow my eyebrows at him.

"If I had seen your letters sooner- I'd have gotten you out of there much earlier than I did.. And I'd have been able to take care of this problem, but.." He sighs. "It may be too hard for them to treat it-"

I roll my eyes and reach over then scruff up his hair, a smirk forming on my face when he looks up, raising an eyebrow.

"Ooh, you're gonna get it." He chuckles, wiggling his fingers.

I lean away and narrow my eyes at him, but he quickly reaches forwards and starts tickling me.

I start laughing quietly, and after a few moments of tickling me, he slowly sits on the edge of the bed.

"You're going to get better. I'll make sure of it. And I'll try to make the rest of your life as fun as possible." He says softly and pulls me into a hug.

I wrap my arms around him as well and close my eyes, a smile slowly forming on my face.

A little less than an hour later, I'm shaken awake by Adam.

I try to move his hand away but when I remember where we are, I open my eyes and look around before my tired eyes land on the doctor.

"So we got the results," he says, looking over some papers.

"She does have leukemia. It's an incurable cancer, but it's not so bad that she needs to go into chemotherapy. She can be released in a week, then given medication and she has to be monitored."

Adam nods. "Got it- are we going to be given the bottle here before we leave or do we have to go to a drug store to pick the prescription up?" Adam asks.

"I will give you a bottle of the pills, and then a schedule of when Tessa needs to take them."

I crinkle my nose at him and huff at him out of my nose.

He gives me a look before looking back at Adam.

"Got it. Thanks," Adam says and watches as the doctor turns and leaves. "A week of hospital food is gonna suck," Adam laughs softly.

I crinkle my nose and nod a bit then look away, at the tv that's sitting there. Blankly staring down at us with a black screen.

I sigh and curl up then close my eyes, pulling the blanket over my thin body before I slowly fall asleep.
